Chapter 217 - Death

Chapter 217 - Death
Death.
Raphael had killed two wolves, defeating them from being killed himself. Keeping my fears away at more incoming fights, I was glad that he had won twice.
Feeling my heart would explode any time soon from the immense emotions I felt, I decided to talk to Raphael. 'Well done, Love.“
On hearing me, Thanos's head snapped towards me, and my heart fluttered as his dark eyes locked with mine.
'Thank you.' He replied, still staring at me. 'Two down; the rest would be over with soon. I promise.'
I nodded, smiling slightly in agreement. 'Go on. I wish you the best.'
Within me, I was feeling furious, though. Eight more people were going to lose their lives because their Alpha lacks his sense of reasoning and empathy. Because of greed and a poor judgmental decision, lives were going to be wasted, and there was nothing to be done about it.
The Crescent Moon pack were clearly displeased that their men kept on dying in the battle.
Six.
This was making the sixth contender's death today. Those of whom who fought against Raphael were now five, and they had all died.
I watched as Raphael snarled, licking the blood from his teeth as he gazed down at the sixth wolf's body. His dark fur was wet, stained with the blood of the wolf, and I could see the momentary fear in the faces of the crowd as they stared at him.
It was foolish of them to think that the wolves could defeat Raphael. He had taken them down effortlessly, biting through their skins and tearing through their throats. He hadn't even sustained much injury while fighting them.
I turn to face Kelvin, my inside burning with fury. His eyes were partially wide as he gaped at Raphael. He was the cause of all this; he was the reason Raphael had to kill wolves for his stupid decision. He made his men fight against him, knowing fully well that they could never win. He was literally sending them off to be killed without any care. Someone like him didn't deserve to be Alpha.
“May the next male step forward and state his name.“ Kelvin announced.
Fucking arsehole. I snorted, shaking my head in disbelief as the Alpha yet again was sending off his men to fight without any care at all.
Mumbles filled the air, and I looked to the crowd again to see them talking obscenely to each other. The male who was supposed to be the next fighter was staring at Raphael with fear, as were the rest of the wolves.
“You!" Kelvin shouted, pointing at the male competitor. “What do you think you are doing? Why aren't you stepping forward?"
Trembling in fear, the male dropped to his knees with his head bowed. “I'm s-orry, Alpha Raphael, for disrespecting you and your pack. I do not wish to take part in the battle anymore.“
“Me too, Alpha Raphael, I do not wish to die. I have a family waiting for me at home.“ One of the males behind him cried out, falling to his knees as well. Just then the rest of the males followed along, dropping to their knees with their heads bowed.
Bingo.
I smirked, looking over at Kelvin and seeing his face filled with shock. His men had just stood down from the fight, knowing what was best for themselves.
“Y-you can't back down no…“
“Of course, they can." I spoke, stepping forwards with determination. "It is clearly stated in the rules that they can submit before the fight commences and they did."
His head snapped towards me, and he glared at me. “This is my pack and I wish to do with them as I see fit.”
I snarled, snapping my teeth at him in rage. "No, you can't. They can be your pack members, but rules are rules. You don't go back against a rule, especially when it involves a competition. I'm sure everyone here agrees with me on that.“ I glance at the crowd to see most of them nodding their heads in agreement.
'Well done, Camila, but I don't trust him. Inform him that he must fight against me according to his wish.' Raphael spoke, linking me, and I turned to look at his wolf. His dark eyes locked with mine, and I smirked, nodding my head at him.
I turned to face Kelvin again, folding my arms with a stern face. “Alpha Kelvin, as the last contender, I suggest you step into the circle and fight against Alpha Raphael yourself. It was your challenge for a battle against him and except you want to be labeled as a coward Alpha who didn't fulfill his side of his challenge, you can't back out like the others.”
I watched as fear flashed across his face, and he glanced at Raphael before turning to look at me again. “I will not do such!!“ He shouted, stepping back. “I will not fight against him!“
The crowd gasped, murmurs and whispers of disappointment filling everywhere. I shook my head at Kelvin for his outrageous behavior.
Oh, what a coward. He didn't intend to fight against Raphael in the first place; he just wanted Raphael dead, thinking one of his men would succeed in doing that before it got to his turn to fight. That way, he wouldn't even lay a finger to kill Raphael. One of his men would end up doing it. Now that things weren't working as he planned, he was going to back out of the competition.
Makes me believe that even he knew that he wasn't a match for Raphael.
