Likewise, Alpha Kelvin." I replied in a neutral tone and expression, not bothering to return the smile. I refuse to look weak and fragile in front of him. Whatever his motives are, I'd show him I'm not one to be messed with.
“Oh, please. You can just call me Kelvin." He smiled, staring at me. Oh, really. He was now flirting with me openly and in front of my mate.
I felt a rush of repellent run down my spine, and I shuddered, looking away from him, already disgusted.
As if.
“Can we all move to the purpose we are here for already?” Raphael asked gruffly. His hands were balled into fists, and his expression was hard, like he was trying to restrict himself from pouncing on someone. He gritted his jaw, giving the Alpha a murderous look.
I didn't miss the fear that flashed across Alpha Kelvin's eyes at Raphael's expression, and as if remembering that he was there, the Alpha gulped and took a step back.
"That's right." He composed himself before facing Alex and Kylie, who stood beside me. “Welcome, Beta Alex and Beta Kylie. Let's all go in." He greeted them shortly and swiftly turned around to lead us into his house.
~~
I'd give it to the Alpha's taste. His house really was something to behold. It was elegantly (and very formally) furnished, with a massive fireplace being the center of attention in the living room. The interior was designed with rich colors, with creamy white and brown spread across the walls of the house. There were plenty of plush white armchairs and leather couches to accommodate a small crowd, and the color scheme was rich and inviting. The interior of the house seemed to be more beautifully structured than the outside.
Kelvin showed us to one of the couches in the living room before going ahead to sit on an armchair opposite the one he led us to.
He spreads his arms across the edges of the couch and relaxesin it. Cocking a smile at us, he raised an eyebrow. “Is there anything I can offer you all? Tea or coffee perhaps?"
"Actually…" Raphael spoke up before I could say anything. “That won't be necessary. We would like to get everything done soon so that we can return to the pack. I'm sure that you are aware that Alphas aren't supposed to leave the pack unattended for too long.“
"Then what's the need of bringing the whole family to my pack and refusing my act of hospitality to welcome you? Either you or Luna Camila should have remained there and sent your beta here instead.” The Alpha shoots back, his voice sounding calm and daring.
'Raphael, please relax.' I voiced out to Raphael through the mindlink before giving him a side look. 'We have to be on good terms with him if we need our plan to work out effectively.'
His head snapped towards me, and he visibly relaxed a bit. 'You expect me to be calm after the bastard eyefucked you a while ago? This man here is a narcissist who does not give a damn about anyone. He doesn't even believe in the moon goddess's rules, so he disregards the laws of werewolland. He would do anything to satisfy his selfish intuitions. I can't stand him.'
I have an idea about the law he was talking about. Werewolf laws are general rules governing the whole werewolf community in doing certain things. Attacking and killing humans, whether in their city or the forest, is one of the general rules every wolf must follow. Only a rogue was capable of going against the general rules of the land, and I heard that it was punishable by the moon goddess herself if anyone went against these rules. Something about extreme misfortunes would befall the werewolf.
I frown, listening to Raphael's word. 'I thought he was a good man. You made it appear like that when you returned two days ago from meeting with him.'
'He is an egoistic man. I only told you about how the meeting went and not how he behaved because I didn't think it was necessary. Then when you said you wanted to go to his pack to find Sasha, I had to come with you, knowing the type of person he is. I'm sorry; I should have warned you about him.' He sighed, turning to look at the Alpha again. 'My apologies, Alpha Kelvin. We would be fine with just a glass of water.'
Kelvin seemed taken aback by Raphael's sudden change of attitude, as if he hadn't expected Raphael to become calm and cease their conversation. I can't help but feel like he had been wanting to piss my mate off and make him do something he might regret later on.
Kelvin stayed still, glancing between Alpha and me with a puzzled expression. Looking unimpressed, he pressed his lips into a firm line before looking back at Raphael. “Well then. Why are you here?“
