Downhill
KADEN'S POV.
We all sat in the living room, having snacks, and talking about the rogues.
Eileen had been so happy that she watched the video a thousand and one times. The video where the rest of the rogues went on their knees, and pleaded for us to save them.
She and Reece fussed over it, making edits that made the video funnier. The original video and the edited ones had all been uploaded, and had received good reviews.
So many people had come to the Palace, bearing gifts. The cops had been unable to settle the issue, but immediately we stepped in ourselves, the issue had been resolved.
They had been proud of us, and honestly, I had been feeling better since then. Thereafter, we had gone to see Yrene, but she had yet to wake. Just then, a call came in on my phone.
"Yes?" I asked, after picking the call, unable to recognize the number.
"Alpha Kaden. This is the hospital. Miss Thomas was taken away just now by soldiers from the council. They have a warrant, and she's going to face trial and execution for being a silver wolf!" The lady on the phone cried, and I jumped to my feet.
"What!? You said… You know what, we'll be right there." I ended the call quickly, and turned to Ethan, Reece and Eileen, who were already looking at me with curiousity .
"Yrene has been taken by the soldiers from the council. They found out she's a silver wolf!" I told them, and they also jumped to their feet, except Eileen who was shocked to the bone.
"Let's go." Reece said, dashing out of the living room.
The three of us ran as fast as we could to the car, not even looking back to see if Eileen was following.
"The news is everywhere. Damn!" Reece said, looking at his phone. I leaned over from the front seat to see his phone, and numerous posts were being uploaded by the minute.
"Go to the council straight." I told Ethan, who was about to take the route to the hospital.
"Alright." He replied, with worry thick in his voice, and we drove straight to the council.
When we got there, we were told Yrene had been taken to the council prisons, and we were not allowed to see her.
We tried our very best, trying to bring influence into the matter, but they were strict in the orders they had received.
Someone had done it on purpose. They had deliberately reported it to the council because they knew we couldn't influence their decisions. The council was strict with the law.
"Reece and I will go to the hospital, and find Doctor Finnigan. He's the only one who knows about Yrene. Ethan, you should talk to the head of the council. See what he says." I suggested to Ethan, and we split ways immediately.
Reece and I got back into the car, and I drove as fast as I could.
How dare that doctor betray us, and report Yrene to the council? After giving us his word?
However, when we got to the hospital, we were told he didn't show up at work that day. We were given his home address, after demanding for it, and got there in a few minutes.
The door was locked, and no matter how hard we knocked, no reply came, so we broke in instead.
However, we found out he was nowhere to be found in the house.
It was very obvious he had made a run for it. He knew we would find him immediately. Why else would a doctor suddenly not show up at work after revealing a serious secret?
"If I get that damned doctor..." Reece began to swear, but I stopped him.
"There's no need for that. Let's go." I interrupted, and we drove back to the council. When we got there, Ethan was already waiting outside.
"The doctor?" He asked immediately we stepped out from the car.
"He ran away." Reece reported, and Ethan kicked a stone on the floor, before picking up his phone, and dialing a number.
"Syria. Take your men. I need you to find someone."
"..."
"Doctor Finnigan. The doctor who treated Yrene after the fire. Find him as fast as you can." Ethan said, with anger, and dropped his phone. "The head of the council said the only thing that would stop Yrene from being executed is proof that she wouldn't be a threat." He told us, and I turned around with my hands on my waist, and my lower lip between my teeth.
It was all messed up.
We had to leave, and daily, we searched for information on silver wolves, but all the information we found were nothing but bad ones.
Silver wolves were the murderers, the thieves, the liars… they were the symbol of every bad trait a wolf could possess.
It was so tiring. On the third day, we sent our men to try their best to find more silver wolves, who led good examples, but they were very hard to find.
Eileen visited just once, and didn't come by anymore, and that was probably because we hadn't even listened to whatever she had to say.
On the fifth day, we got an unexpected visitor.
It was Theo.
"I heard about Yrene." He said, stepping in, and I sighed.
"Please follow me." I said to him, and we both walked into the living room.
Ethan and Reece got up from their seats, and greeted Alpha Theo.
His eyes swept over all the scattered junk on the floor, and the work of five days, which had left the living room messy, and he sighed.
"Can I have the full story?" He asked, sitting down, and we told him everything that happened, starting with the fire.
"So, what's the plan?" He asked us.
"We're planning on finding silver wolves with good reputation. If we can find two of them in the least, they can prove that not all silver wolves are as bad as they paint them to be." Reece explained, and Alpha Theo clasped his hands together, looking serious.
"Silver wolves." He muttered, looking like he was fighting with thoughts in his head.
"Yes, but we've found none so far. They're really good at hiding." Reece added.
"Well, it's not their fault. They were pushed into hiding." I commented, leaning back in my chair with sore bones.
Then Alpha Theo gave a deep sigh. "I know one."
