Chapter 97 Trouble
ADRIANA
So maybe I’d made a mistake.
Hazel was right. These woods were scary. Very scary and I couldn’t even walk without looking over my shoulder to check for what was behind me.
I should have just waited for a new day before leaving but I decided to leave when the day was almost over and that was the worst decision.
Naturally, I was afraid of the dark and now to make matters worse, I had to walk in these woods by myself.
“Do you wish you had listened to her now?”
I sighed in relief when I heard Yara’s voice.
“Took you long enough to come. I was beginning to lose it out here.”
She laughed.
“You’re supposed to be the special wolf. How can you be scared of darkness?”
I shrugged.
“I don’t know. I’m just glad you’re here. The least I need right now is company. Just be here and help me.”
“Do you even know where you’re going? You have no one other than him.” I definitely did not need that reminder.
I knew that but I didn’t want to think about it. I hated the fact that I had nowhere to go.
“You should have just let Hazel help you.”
I wanted to but then again, that would defeat the whole purpose of leaving the house because she would still know where I was.
That was fine, I would find my way around these woods eventually and somehow get to safety.
“Do you know that safety is at least a week away? Adriana, this is sad to watch. I’m going to send help to you. No matter how scared you may be, don’t run away this time around.”
I tried to ask her what she was talking about but there was no response.
Great, even my wolf was mad at me.
I wanted to stay and speak to Elijah but for some reason, I left. Now that I think about it, that was a stupid thing to do.
I mean, this was not the first time he would be mad at me.
Oh, the deed had been done and I couldn’t go back there. Why in the world would the woods be this thick in the first place?
I had to look for somewhere to sleep which was going to be another issue because I had no supplies whatsoever.
Adriana, what in the world was wrong with you when you decided to leave?
I had nothing to help me sleep. No flashlight, no umbrella and worst of all, no food. I just left the house with my bags in my hand and clearly, I left my brain back at the house too.
I could scold myself later but for now, I needed to find somewhere to sleep.
As if on cue, a strong cold breeze blew and thunder crackled above me. I was sure the universe hated me because if it didn’t, then it wouldn’t be raining right now.
There was absolutely no reason for it to rain but because I was out here, it would rain.
“God, I need somewhere to stay for the night. Even if it’s with a witch, I don’t care as long as they’re not weird.”
That saying, be careful what you wish for, was made for me.
At this point, I wasn’t moving anymore. I’d left the phone that Elijah got me back at the house because I didn’t want to take anything that pertained to him with me.
I’d also left Leo a sorry note. I didn’t mean for all that to happen. I really wished that I had handled his birthday cake myself.
Even if I had to bake it from scratch with my own hands, I wouldn’t have minded.
But I need that phone badly now. I really wish Hazel followed me or sent someone at least to check if rogues got me.
The woods really are dangerous. Being here reminded me of the first time I met Elijah.
I’d been in the woods just like this and he had come to save me. Was he going to come save me again?
I highly doubted that. That man I’d seen this afternoon hated me with every ounce of his being. He didn’t care about me.
And he surely didn’t care about our bond. Leo came first to him and since I’d proven that I couldn’t handle that well twice, he didn’t want to have anything to do with me.
I wonder what ugly creature I was going to encounter in the woods this time around. I just hoped that they would be as nice as Elijah.
My stomach started rumbling and I sighed deeply. I was most definitely going to die out in these woods. Maybe the people that were looking for me would finally be happy.
My father and that sick Antil Cult of his hadn’t given up and being out here and exposed like this wasn’t exactly how I thought this would go.
It was just a couple of days until the full moon and then if I wasn’t ready, they would surely kill me, no doubt.
I didn’t even know what was expected of me yet because I still needed time to train myself properly.
If they attacked like this, I would definitely die. But on the other hand, it was a good thing I left Elijah’s pack. At least, they’ll know that I wasn’t there and they won’t have a reason to attack again.
Which was what I wanted. I needed to distract them from going to his pack and causing more trouble.
I wasn’t worth the war that was coming.
I felt the first drop of rain on my arm and I knew I was doomed. There was no cave or shelter in sight so I was definitely going to be out here for all of it.
My bags would be wet as well by the time the rain was over.
So damn great.
“So you’re the one all this trouble is for.”
My eyes widened as I screamed and turned around.
