Chapter 32 Leach
ELIJAH
I hadn’t been able to focus all day.
And I had Ezra to blame for it.
First off, I couldn’t get this morning out of my head.
It was the closest I had been to Adriana and the farthest we’d ever gone and it was like I hadn’t kissed a girl before.
Every time I tried to forget, I saw her face in my head and I just went back to thinking. She was a good kisser, her lips were soft and I couldn’t place my hand on what lip gloss she was using but it tasted amazing.
Her skin was soft and every part I touched just felt like a fresh loaf of bread right out of the oven.
Weird comparison but that was the best I had.
I know I said I wanted to get to know her more but with the way she was around me these days and the way I had been close to her, I don’t think it will work. The moment she was around me, I stopped thinking and I just couldn’t function.
I tried so hard this morning not to touch her, to not give into Ezra’s torture but I had to break.
No, I didn’t have feelings for her but it was this stupid mate bond and the fact that I had a pervert for a wolf.
When she said she hadn’t done anything yet, it made me feel relieved. Not that it mattered if she wasn’t a virgin but I was just glad that that toad back at her pack hadn’t touched her.
She was a woman in every way and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t turn me on.
When I saw her with Hazel, I couldn’t help but stare at her. Everything she did was attractive and as much as I tried to stop myself from being caught, I just couldn’t help it.
“Are you listening to me?”
I looked at Aiden who had been talking about something for the past three minutes.
“Yeah, sure. I’m listening.”
He crossed his arms over his chest.
“What’s the last thing I said?”
“Oh, um. I don’t know but I’m sure I was listening.”
“Forget it.”
He walked away before I could even understand what was going on. Seeing that Hazel had walked away too, I used that opportunity to go up and speak to her.
“What did you say about giving things time again?” Ezra mocked. The asshole.
“This is all your fault and you know it. You are the one messing with my emotions.”
I knew that was a lie but I just had to blame it on something.
“Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart.”
Maybe I was doing too much. Maybe she needed space after what happened this morning or maybe I just genuinely creeped her out because after she asked me that question, I felt the air being knocked out of me.
“Don’t you have work to do?”
I had to take a step back.
I was so embarrassed. It is why I walked away to save whatever dignity I had left.
“I tried to stop you.”
The last thing I needed now was Ezra’s criticism and sarcasm.
“Shut up.”
I was almost out of sight when I heard my name.
“Elijah!”
I knew that voice anywhere and I wasn’t happy when I heard it. I didn’t turn around to look at her because I wanted to acknowledge her. I turned around because I wanted to see if Adriana was still standing there.
Since she wasn’t, it was even easier for me to chase Hannah away.
She ran up to me and latched herself onto my arm like a leech and I had to ask myself why exactly I tolerated her.
“What do you want?” My tone was as warm as Russia in the deep winter.
I was trying to remove my keys from my pocket but because she refused to let my arm go, I couldn’t.
“Let me go. I have things to do.”
She laughed like I’d said anything funny.
“Well, I hope I’m on that list.” Her tone grated in my ears.
It took me a moment but when I finally understood what she was saying, I made a very irritated face and I didn’t even try to hide it.
“Go away, Hannah.”
“But you weren’t busy when you were cuddling that twat.”
I turned around so quickly that she had to move back a bit.
“What did you just say?”
She couldn’t repeat it and she started fumbling with her hair.
“I know you spent the day with her. I searched everywhere for you but I couldn’t find you and since I didn’t smell the disgusting stench of a wolf either, I knew she wasn’t around so you were with her. Also, I can smell her on you.”
Again, do I really have to tolerate her? She was irritating. Downright annoying and no matter how many times I tried to get her to wake up from her delusion, she just didn’t.
“Don’t get me angry. Don’t you ever call her that, ever again.”
Hazel had told me to stop putting up with her nonsense and just throw her out but I couldn’t. Every time I wanted to, I’d see Liam’s face in my head and I couldn’t bear it.
Also, she was the only blood relative that Leo had and throwing her out kind of played on my guilt.
Even though I knew that Leo didn’t like her, I had to keep her around for the future.
“Oh, and I’ll tell you for the last time. Don’t call me Elijah again. This is the last time I’ll warn you. I’m not your friend, I’m not your boyfriend, I’m not your best friend, I am your Alpha.”
I slammed the door in her face and continued my day, trying to forget about Adriana but no matter how hard I tried not to think about her, it was either she was in my view or I could smell her.
I found myself counting down the minutes until I could see her again.
