CHAPTER 22
VALERIA POV

The people cheered and applauded us as we made our way to the stage. The room was lit with beautiful chandeliers. I have been here once on the first day I came to the castle but before I could even look around, Lycan king Xyrus came and we eventually left in haste.

“This is actually a dream come true for the Pack. And a lot of people have been curious to know what Lycan king Xyrus looked like.

“Please, do you have a word of encouragement for everyone?” The MC asked.

Lycan king Xyrus took the Mic and kissed my cheeks before mounting the space. My skin flushed pink when I heard the people jubilating. My fragile heart couldn't even handle a gentle kiss. I wonder what would happen if we eventually kissed.

I know this will eventually happen if we will have to keep putting this act on in front of everyone.

“I welcome everyone to the party. This is all about Luna. She will step forward to address you all.” Lycan king Xyrus said without giving me any prior notice.

Is this way of messing up with me? He didn't even tell me I would be making a speech.

“What do you think? Do you think you can't do that? Like I told you, I will give you everything.” Lycan king Xyrus whispered in my ear and I gritted my teeth, glaring at him in anger.

If I were a cartoon character, I would be sure smoke would be coming out of my nose and ears.

“I'm afraid the people will think that gaze is directed at them. Fix it please.” He said in a low tone and I relaxed.

“You think this will make me doubt myself? Then watch me.” I challenged him and I directed my gaze at the stage.

“Ooh. That is my woman.” He cheered as I made my way to the podium.

“Hello everyone?” I said and the hall fell silent like a graveyard. If a pin should drop, I am sure a lot of people will hear the sonorous sound.

“I am sure a lot of people are curious to know more about me. They want to know which pack I came from and my name. I think almost everyone wants to know that.” I said and swallowed.

“My name is Valeria Morwen ," I said and the people applauded me.

“My father is one of the elders in the castle. He is also working at the council.” I said and continued. “But tonight is not about my father. It's all about me.”

“I am Valeria and I will be your future Luna,” I said and the people cheered in delight.

“You are so beautiful!”

“We love you!”

“You have such a nice voice”

“Can we see you later?”

“I would love to dance with you.”

I smiled, enjoying their endless comments. “Thank you all for coming to celebrate with me. I still have a lot to learn about the Pack but I know that with Lycan king Xyrus as my life partner. It will be a great journey.” I said and the people cheered.

I made my way to where the Lycan king is. He is looking at me with a relaxed expression but I know he was impressed by the way I spoke.

However, with different thoughts running in my head, something else actually caught my attention. And it was the last question asked before I could get to where Lycan king Xyrus is.

“Are you the king's fated mate?” the person asked and I missed my steps. I could feel myself falling over and then the people gasped while I shouted in my head for help.

I might lose a tooth today but then he caught me before I could meet my demise like a prince charming.

“Got you.” He said with amusement and I glared at him.

“Wow, the Luna and the Lycan king are actually in love with each other. They will make a great couple” one of the reporters commented.

“Please make your way down to the people. They are curious to see you closer.” The MC said.

“So you won't even say a thank you?” Lycan king Xyrus asked as we made our way down the stairs.

I know that if he hadn't intervened, I wouldn't even be able to walk now.

“Thank you,” I murmured and he clicked his tongue. I am not sure if he is pleased by my response or not.

“Listen, this is where the real job is Valeria. You can't seriously disgrace me after all my warnings. We will be interviewed in front of the elders. I will answer the question and just follow my lead.” Lycan king Xyrus explained but I am afraid I can't go on with this plan.

Though I will be here temporarily, I can't let him take advantage of that to toss me around like a puppet. I will do it right.

“But you told me today is all about me and I can't make any mistakes.” I began and he halted in his footsteps, looking at me.

He parted his lips to say something but I didn't allow him as I quickly chirped in.

“You can't keep answering all the questions. I told you I would do this well. For this to work, you need to have a bit of trust in me.” I said and he placed his thumb on his lips. My eyes followed the movement. He really has kissable lips.

“But then, how many men have you kissed, Valeria, to suddenly claim a man has kissable lips. You have spent all your life seeking revenge so there was no room for romance whatsoever.” My inner voice lashed at me and I swallowed.

“Let's do this.” He finally said and we walked towards where the elder is. Father was among them. He looked at me and smiled in assurance for me to see that he was actually w
ith me. He is going to support me in everything I do and I am so grateful for that.
