CHAPTER 21
XYRUS POV

Gareth gave me a tie to match the black shirt I am putting on but then I placed it aside.

“You said she is still inside with her friends?” I asked Gareth and he answered yes.

“They seem to have a lot to do and she is not yet out,” Gareth answered and that reply actually sparked my interest.

However, I don't wish to say more. She will have to take today as a big lesson for the kind of world she is stepping into.

“Okay,” I said and left two buttons undone. I am not the type to impress women. I don't even have to do that because I know they will come swarming at my feet without even moving a finger.

But then, none of them interests me. Not even Adelina because these days, her mouth can't even excite me enough to cum. And I have been searching for a means to get that release.

“Adelina is here to see you.” Gareth sensed her from afar even though she wasn't close. And this is one of the reasons I have him by my side. He managed to acquire some of my gifts after I marked him to become my Beta.

“You don't have to stay by my side today. You can find a woman.

I will always be by your side, my king. I will watch you from afar.

And I know you are good at that but not tonight.” I said that because I am afraid I still have a lot to do with my little bride. If I had known she was the same girl I met at the club, I wouldn't have drawn up the contract but it's too late now.

Did any of her friends catch your interest? I asked Gareth, watching his expression.

“No, my king. None of them did” Gareth replied immediately.

That is quite fascinating. The two ladies are actually eye-catching but none of them wield the charm Valeria wielded. Only I could see that and maybe Vance.

“Where is Vance?”

“He will be coming to the party. Lady Eliona passed the message across to him herself. If you want me to, I will stop him,” Gareth proposed but I am actually against that idea.

“No. You should let him be.” I said, stopping Gareth from doing anything further. A smile graced my lips when I thought about what Vance said.

He caught Valeria that night but he is not going to tell me, which means she managed to catch his interest.

“I will go now,” Gareth said and then there was a soft knock at my door. Adelina walked in but I didn't bother looking at her appearance.

There is another woman I am more curious to see tonight.

“You are already prepared,” Mirabella said, swaying her ass right in front of me.

“I will see you tomorrow night. Tonight, I don't want to see you.” I said and her lips set into a thin line.

“Is there anything wrong?” I asked and she shook her head

I walked towards her and pinned her against the mirror. My hand wrapped tightly around her throat as she gasped for air.

“I told you developing feelings for me would end our contract, Adelina. Are you harbouring one?” I asked with a mild smile on my lips and she shook her head vehemently.

I let her go and she gasped for air, coughing out loud.

“You managed to stay with me this long because you shared a terrible past like me, but I don't want you showing emotions except when we are having sex,” I said and she went on her knees.

“I am sorry my king. It's not what you think. I was just feeling light-headed,” She lied, but I decided to let it pass.

Maybe she has other things on her mind.

“Good. Now stand up and be a good girl.” I said and she nodded.

“Let me accompany you to the backstage area,” she volunteered with shaky lips.

I would have rejected her instantly but then, call me a psycho or anything. I am more curious to see what Valeria's expression will be.

The kind of expression she is going to show when she realises she is never going to be mine, even if that is what the elders want.

Adelina led the way and opened the door for me. We stepped outside. The moon was shining bright in the sky, casting its soft silvery glow on the earth.

We got to the backstage and then, Adelina tiptoed and whispered in my ear. “I'm sorry for what happened earlier. I will make it up to you tomorrow.” Adelina said and left.

I looked at the entrance and immediately my eyes fell on her. I knew I might have signed my death sentence.

That I might have made a terrible mistake by sealing the deal with this woman. My wolf recognised her scent and he was just as hungry as I am. I walked forward, listening to the way her heart skipped a beat when she saw me with her pink lips parted in awe.

She got affected just like me. My eyes trailed down her delicate soft neck to her lean back. They were perfect and glowing under the light. The dress accentuated her wide hips and I grew hard instantly. It usually takes Adelina more than twenty minutes to make it hard and yet with her, everything seems different.

Her eyelashes beckon to me softly like a magnet. She doesn't even know how much she affected me. But then the men will keep gawking at her. Not like I should care but I just feel the need to tame her instead of showing her to the whole wide world.

There is no way I am going to do it. I can't escape from this woman. She is my destruction and I can't even escape it.

“I hope you are ready for tonight?” I asked her and she nodded.

“Huh.” She asked as if unsure of what I just said but then she rubbed her hand against her thighs and looked at me.

I could see she was nervous.

“Yes. I…I know what to do.” She stuttered and a smirk graced the corner of my lips. She is avoiding my gaze, which is not unlike her.

“Then come closer? The best Elders might think you are afraid of me.” I said and she smiled, facing me.

“Of course I am not.” She said as she walked towards me. My eyes followed the movement of her body, those full breasts. I cleared my throat and she dropped her hand on my arm.

The MC is busy addressing the Pack. Explaining facts about the theme of the Event. Today is all about her and everyone is eager to know how this will play out.

They are curious to know what she looks like and not that alone, only a few Pack members and the Pack warriors knew me, excluding the Elders. The neighbouring packs are also present.

She indeed holds to her reputation of being the prettiest girl in her household. Which is why they gave her to me, but the fascinating thing is that she doesn't look like them.

“Please welcome in, the Lycan king and his future Luna.” The MC announced and the curtain was drawn.

Valeria and I make our way to the stage.
