I made sure all the workers in the nursery knew to keep their mouths shut about this new development. Sophia would be here any time now, and the one thing that shouldn't know is the queen of the Faye.
You can never trust a Faye, even though they must tell the truth they were known wordsmiths and could talk their way out of any situation simply by turning your own words against you. My brethren knew they could never win a battle of words with the fucking bugs, goddess how I loathed them. But I may need them. So locking in their support early on would be beneficial.
Elias rang me to tell me Sophie and her entourage had settled in the ground floor salon. Gritting my teeth and thanking Elias, I hung up and tried to calm down.
How dare the little bug just show up here? I would have to move the lodge again to an undisclosed location. I can't have any other creature just turning up unannounced.
I was now in a horrible mood. I shouted for Charlotte, who came running toward me. A look of fright on her beautiful face ''yes Zachary? What can I do for you?''
I rolled my eyes and demanded to know if the little bitch had left the lodge yet? Because if she hadn't, I would have a busy night of killing ahead of me. ''Well?'' I shouted again. ''Is she still here or not?''
My already dwindling patience was at an impressive low, and Charlotte could feel it, so she chose to speak the truth. ''She has left, about 10 minutes ago, I can always call her back'' she asked, looking at me hopefully.
''only if you wish to see me kill her. Charlotte, make sure she doesn't cross my path again. For the next time I see her, I will kill her'' is said menacingly. Charlotte looked at me through eyes that were now wide. She began to ask why I had said such a harsh thing when I shouted ''YOU DARE CHALLENGE MY DECISION''!!
Charlotte immediately dropped to the floor and adopted a submissive pose. Years ago, this would have turned me on, and she knew it. So her blatant attempt to fuck me did not go unnoticed. My lips twisted into a sneer as I lifted her chin so she could see me. ''One moment of madness hundreds of years ago does not a relationship make. Do you understand? The only reason you are still around is because I find you amusing. But my tolerance for you is waning. Be warned. Anyway'' I said snapping at her. ''Sophia is in the lodge, I expect you to be there. You know Sophia still thinks us a couple, so act accordingly and I may keep you around a little longer''.
I smirked as my intentions hit home. Walking away from here, I made my way down the flights of stairs until I got to the ground level. My tension shot up again as I realised the bugs may hear the screams of agony from the nursery. Hoping the staff down there were clever enough to close all the doors and initiate lockdown. That would sound proof the lodge from the nursery.
As I walked into my salon, I could see the sycophants Sophia surrounded herself with flitter around the spacious room. They were clearly as untrusting as I. This made for an interested talk.
Upon seeing me enter the room, the Faye that were flitting around settled down at the feet of their queen. Who had a beaming smile on her petite face. I watched as she rose elegantly and seemed to glide over to me, holding her arms open wide so she could pull me into a hug. I held out one hand and stopped her before she had the chance to get too close to me.
''Do you assume I had forgotten what would happen had you placed your arms around me Sophia? I am too long in the tooth to be bothered with such childish tactics. Shame on you'' I berated her. At least she had the good grace to look a little guilty. She giggled, her voice so soft it was like the wind was talking to you.
''Zachary, my love. It has been too long since we saw each other. The hug was genuine, not the other kind'' she pouted. Her beautiful lips pushed out slightly to show her disappointment.
Choosing to ignore her, I got straight to the point of the meeting. ''Sophia, what do you know about Selene and the child she has sent?'' The beautiful eyes that had been dancing with mischief a second ago turned hard and cold, her lips did no more pouting. Instead, they grimaced out a horrible twist to her mouth. Clearly, I had pissed her off.
''You will address me as your Majesty or as Queen Sophie, halfling. And don't ever forget it,'' she announced as she bristled. Wow, okay. Very pissed off.
I looked at her entourage to see that they had all stood up and that they too had different expressions on their faces. It wasn't a well known fact in this realm, but the Faye were ugly creatures with uglier hearts and no souls. The facade they showed the world was nothing more than a trick. Get them pissed off, and they will always show you their true form.
''I will not call you queen. You stole the title from the last king when you killed him. Just because you were paired. I was there when you married the dopey old git. But, in my eyes, he will always be the king. The gods gave him that position. So unless the gods have bestowed their favor on you, and I didn't hear a bout it. Then I'm afraid I will have to stick with Sophia''.
The more I said, the more she became her true self. And the more the Faye who had accompanied her showed their true selves. It was all part of my plan to dethrone the bug. As Sophia spat out every expletive know the man and beast, I waited. I waited to see the blue glow. That was when they were at their most vulnerable, and that was why I decided to allow her visit for now. The Faye with her had all started to emit the blue glow that was their essence. I gave the signal, and ten vampires swarmed in and killed all the Faye, except for Sophia, who now looked on at what was happening and could only let out an ear shattering shriek. When she finally turned back to me, she was a defeated fairy. No more the all powerful, as she had shown her true self and paid the price.
''Okay Zachary, you win this round. What do you want to know from the Faye''? Sophia said dejectedly.
She wouldn't look at me. But I knew she had become submissive enough for me to get the answers I needed.
''Sophia, I need to know if the gossip is true. I need to know if the moon goddess has sent a child to this realm to support her mutts. I need to know if Selene herself is entering the fray''.
I had said it as dead pan as possible, but the intensity of my voice betrayed my true feelings, and Sophia clung to it like a life preserver. Smiling a truly wicked smile that was elongated across her face, she said in a childish voice ''ooh, is big bad Zachary worried. How will you get what you want if Selene herself comes into it? Will you have the strength to kill her? Maybe you could get one of your brethren to kill her for you, I'm sure they wouldn't mind, seeing as she was responsible for all the killings of your kind before she fucked off and left us here to rot''.
I jumped at her, a feral growl in my throat as she taunted me with those vicious words. The thought of my beloved being slain by anyone caused me an unbearable heartache. Sophia's response was to laugh in my face, which in turn angered me more. I grabbed her foolish neck and squeezed. All I had to do was squeeze a bit more. Just a tiny bit more, and her neck would snap like a twig, and I would have killed the supposed queen of the Faye. I was aware of Sophia pleading for her life. I was also aware of a rushing sound in my ears that almost drowned out the sound. Allowing me to kill the irksome bug. I had the life in my hands. And she knew it. Once again, she was no longer smiling. I looked at her dead in the face as my grip tightened when I heard the door behind me open and in walked Charlotte.
I was furious, I could barely move, I was so livid at the interruption. ''WHAT'' is screamed at her. She was so scared of the creature in front of her holding the body of a lifeless Faye that she fled. Not wanting to be anywhere near me. I didn't blame her. I knew I was evil incarnate at the moment. Why? Because I'm surrounded by complete fuckwits who don't know how to use the fucking phones.
After I asked two of my brethren to take Sophia to a nearby forest and leave her there, I decided I needed a little pick me up. So I walked back down to the nursery to see my new pet.
