Elias POV
Queen Sophia showing up here today was not good. Zachary is going to be pissed. And I don't blame him. I kept my position just outside the salon, always ready to assist my master.
Although I could hear them speaking I was not paying attention. If I was supposed to know what was being said, I would have been invited in.
I have always been with Zachary, he was my sire. When the gods used us to fight for their trivial little wars, I was always by Zachary's side, as his second. As I am still to this day.
when we were left here, banished from our home. We all tried to stay together, but it turned out impossible. In fighting started, the original sires scrambled around for power. It was disgusting. It was my master that brought the end to those harsh centuries. It was my master that divided the remaining vamps into the three separate brethren that still stand today.
It was my master that Remus and Marcus feared. It was my master that will get us home.
there was no one around at the moment, that was good. The less people knew that the queen of the Faye was here, the better. But this would definitely mean that the lodge would have to be moved again. I did sigh at this thought. I like it here. There was good hunting, good nightlife and even better ass. Just thinking about the writhing humans, all dressed up in their shortest dresses. So drunk they would be oblivious to my advances.
I always enjoyed the pissed up humans, as a vampire the only way we could ''get drunk'' was to drink it as blood. It never got us as drunk as the humans, and it never lasted long, but it always gave me a nice buzz. I was not a 'see human, must kill' type of vamp. No, I was like my master. I needed the blood to survive, of course. But if you did it the right way, then one feed would last over a week, and if you did drain the human by mistake (it happens), then we could go months without needing another feed.
it was always a little different for the new Born vamps, they needed blood everyday. For those, we would use a blood bank, as it was affectionately called.
These were humans that wanted the eternal life. Over the centuries, us vamps discovered there were humans out there, that if they knew of us, they would do anything to be like us. They made them willing and able, and kept us off the radar of the council. Urgh, the council. With all those toffee nosed assholes, governing us supernaturals as if we were all the same.
We are nothing like the dogs or the bugs. And the Mage or witches, as they now like to be called, were even worse, because they knew that to get home, we needed them to open the portal to the realm of the gods.
My attention was brought back to reality when I heard the noise coming from the salon. I grinned to myself as I recognized the sound as the hissing of the true Faye. My master clearly had enough of their games.
I was just about to ask if all was as it should be when my master came strolling out nonchalantly and asked me to take the trash out. And with it Sophia.
I called two of my brethren to assist me, and after instructing them to dispose of the bugs, I took it upon myself to deliver Sophia back to the forest. The Faye live in this realm, they live just outside it, in a pocket realm that their gods provide for them. So getting Sophia to any forest would be enough for her to use the earth around her and summon a porthole.
When I saw the state of the salon, I grinned again, damn, but I would have loved to be part of this. Slain bugs everywhere and ''queen'' Sophia laying in an undignified heap on the floor.
I strolled over to her and scooped her up, she weighed next to nothing, and made my way out of the lodge. As I passed a few lower level vamps, I ordered them to clean the salon. They nodded at me, while looking curiously at the Faye in my arms. I continued to walk, ignoring the glances and flat out stares...
I could see the forest from where I stood, estimating fifteen minutes to get there and back. I thought hopefully of going out and scoring some blood before the lodge moved.
Grinning again at my plan, I left to return the bug to her nest.
Elias POV
Once I got to the clearing in the forest, I dropped the bug at my feet and was about to leave when I heard him. Although it sounded no more than wind, I knew it was him.
I spun around, but could not see anything, so I again went to leave and heard it again. My name was being called, I knew who was doing it, I just couldn't see him.
getting annoyed now because the ''voice'' was coming from different points. Every time it spoke, I called out to it.
'Tobias, if this is you then make yourself known, now' i demanded. There was silence for a fraction of a second, and then I saw him. My instinct was to smile at him and shake his hand. But i could not. It took all my strength to stay where I was. I waited for him to emerge fully into the forest. Seeing someone behind him, I felt my temper raise as I saw Tabitha. The only movement on my body was the twist of my lips when I saw her, but that was enough to earn a rebuttal off Tobias.
'Now now, brother. Be nice' he said as he approached me. Although his eyes were on me, Tabitha's were on her currently unconscious ''queen''. Tabitha let out a shriek of fury, then fell over Sophia's body. Protecting it from further harm.
'What have you done to Queen Sophia? You leech' she screamed at me. I looked down, then up, so I was looking at him and not her. 'I am merely bringing her back to the forest. I have done nothing apart from that. You can accuse me of nothing'.
Tobias lifted his brows at my words, tilting his head to one side. He lent down and touched Tabitha on her shoulder. 'I believe him, there is a stink all over my queen, and it is not from my brother. This was Zachary's doing, yes?'.
I nodded once, not wanting to speak another word, as it was well known that the bugs could turn your own words back at you, causing trouble for you.
'You are indeed wise to keep your mouth shut in our presence leech, when the council hears about the attack on Queen Sophia, they will allow us to retaliate in kind. Be sure to tell your master'. The next moment, they all disappeared back into the forest.
I shook my head slightly to get his image out of my head. In all the centuries i had lived no one had hurt me more than Tobias. My brother. The traitor. I must tell my master immediately that the bugs sent him and his whore to collect Sophie. It would mean something. It always did.
Zachary POV
When I found out Elias had taken the bug back to the forest, I felt a moment of apprehension. Although it was a fleeting thought, the feeling did not subside. Had I known Elias would insist on doing the task himself, I would have forbade it.
I was sure of his loyalty to me. I doubt anything in this realm could sway him of is conviction. Except the bug from the other realm.
Tobias.
it still left a bad taste in my mouth when i thought of his betrayal. I had been too lenient with him. I should have killed him. But knowing it would greatly affect Elias, I did as he asked and allowed Tobias to live. After the banishment, I saw a marked difference in my second. I had begun to worry when one day there he was, back again to full strength. From that day on, Elias had been my loyal, faithful second, and all was as it should be.
But, if I thought for even a minute that he could have the same betrayal in him as Tobias, I would be forced to kill him. I clutched my chest as a pain ran through it.
Turning my eyes downcast, I knew in that moment that Elias had come face to face with Tobias. His brother and my traitor.
