Genni tried to make her voice as stern as she could and it must have worked because everyone stopped what they were doing to look. Sara had her face pointed at the floor and was mumbling sorry when Genni let out a small giggle, the girl looked up at her friend and Luna with suspicious eyes. Watching her closely Sara realised Genni was winding her up. ‘You are dead meat Sister’. Sara shouted, making everyone jump. Genni burst out laughing again and sprinted to the office door opening it and flying up the stairs with Sara hot on her heels yelling insults. The omega’s that were there in their work capacity just stood frozen, not knowing if this were serious or not. Greg was about to chase after his mate when Jonas held him back. Curious now as he thought his Alpha had finished speaking, Jonas gestured him back into the room so greg sat down on one of the chairs by the desk. Jonas choose to sit on the edge of his desk. ‘You are probably trying to work out how they ended up chasing each other? I will explain. I asked Genevieve if she could get Sara out of the room for a while as I needed to talk to you and only you. Squirming in his chair, Greg asked what was so important that he needed him alone?. Jonas quickly gave him the reason. When Jonas had finished Greg knew what he needed to do. Just him and Sara, so when he saw her coming back into the office arm in arm with Genni he stood up. Smiling at the look of happiness on both their faces Genni looked pointedly at Jonas and then Greg, who both nodded at her. Nodding back Genni took her arm from around Sara’s shoulders and walked over to her Mate. ‘Angel’ Greg said softly to Sara ‘come for a walk, I don’t think you’ve seen the southern rose garden’. His voice started to get fainter the more he walked away. Sara was staring up into his eyes like a little puppy who had just found his forever home. ‘Please tell me I don’t look like that when I look at you Jonas? Genni giggled. Laughing at what she said Jonas admitted that he was usually the one looking like that. They were still laughing when they entered the kitchen and nearly bumped into Daniel. Who had obviously gone to introduce himself to Martha. When Genni looked at the scene in front of her she quickly looked and Jonas who matched her facial expression in every way. Although, Genni was looking at her father and Jonas was looking at Martha. No body said anything for a heartbeat then speaking quietly Daniel and Martha said the same word at the same time. And that word was MATE!.
‘Wait, what!’ Lucas shouted from behind Jonas and Genni who were both to preoccupied with what was going on in front of them they didn’t realise Lucas had entered the kitchen behind them.
‘What did they just say to one another?’ Genni, who had a huge smile on her face shushed Lucas and pulled him to the side of the kitchen as well as Jonas, who has started to puff out his chest. Never a good sign, thought Genni shaking her head. Meanwhile, Martha and Daniel stayed where they were, just staring at each other. It was Martha who broke the silence first ‘I all ready had my mate, this is a mistake’ and although she didn’t move Daniel could see a tear slide down one cheek. This spurred him on and he finally walked over to the her. ‘Well, I’ve never had a fated mate, and I don’t think the Goddess makes mistakes. We could always ask Genevieve, she would know. I’m sure’. Smiling a little at this Martha said ‘well, you got me good there, I’m hardly going to ask your daughter now, am I’. Sighing a little Daniel admitted that if he was ever going to find his fated mate his reaction would have been a bit less formal. Smiling for sure now Martha held out her hand and Daniel almost fell over a stool to get to her. ‘Come on wolf’ she said. ‘Let’s talk’. When it had gone quiet Jonas, Genni and Lucas all popped their heads around the little cubby that Genni had pulled them all into. ‘Well well well’ said Jonas. ‘It’s about time, Martha’s been so lonely since the death of her husband’. Both Genni and Lucas agreed it was about time their father found his fated mate too. Walking into the kitchen now Genni grabbed the coffee pot and poured her self and Jonas a coffee while Lucas raided the fridge for a cold drink. They sat and chatted about day to day stuff and Genni thought to herself how much she loved these normal times. No mention of the goddess, no mention of her abilities and no mention of the unrest that was practically knocking the door down. Genni went quiet for a while just listening to her brother and her mate. As she was daydreaming and hadn’t realised that Lucas had stood up, she started a little when his voice sounded close to her ear ‘let me know what happens, eh sis?. Pushing him away from her with a tone of frustration genni replied that she had no intention to speak about such matters. Laughing at her attempt to be all hoity toity, Lucas snatched an apple of the counter and left. He said he was going to the arena to meet up with Wyatt to get the ball rolling on the new schedule for the warrior classes. So when a very disheveled looking Daniel came back into the kitchen it was just Jonas and Genni sitting there, looking like a toddler with his hand caught in the cookie jar they heard Daniel say ‘Bollocks’ under his breathe then they turned to see a very dishevelled nut very happy Martha coming back into the kitchen. Upon seeing Genni and Jonas sitting there staring at them Martha also said ‘Bollocks’ under her breathe. This made the Alpha and Luna laugh very long and very hard. Looking a little bemused Martha asked if they were ok? ‘We are ok, are you ok’ said Jonas wiggling his eyebrows at her. Blushing to the roots of her hair Martha walked over to where Daniel was standing and slowly putting her hand through his and feeling him clasp her back she straightened her shoulders and said ‘Alpha, Luna I would like to introduce you to my second chance mate’. Smiling at each other now the way puppies do, Genni launched herself at her father and started to congratulate them both. Jonas joined in and all four of them spoke briefly before Greg opened the door to the kitchen and the mood became very somber. Not wanting to pull Martha and Daniel down the Alpha’s, Greg and Sara walked back to the main office.
‘Has Greg explained why you didn’t find out your job earlier in the full meeting?’ Jonas said looking at Sara. Genni walked up to her best friend ‘and do you understand and accept the job we have asked you both to do?. Looking at each other, then looking back at Jonas and Genni the pair nodded. ‘Okay, good. We need you to leave immediately. Take nothing from here. Buy everything you need using this’ Jonas handed over a credit card. I know I don’t have to remind either of you whats at stake here. You must find her before the Vampires do. If you don’t, then this unrest will have already been lost to us. Standing up now they all hugged goodbye and while Jonas and Genni stood by the door a big black suv pulled up. When the omega got out and offered the key to Greg, he thanked the boy and opening the door for Sara, he made sure she was ok then walked around to the drivers side, waved one last time. Got in and drove away.
Genni continued to wave them off long after the car was out of sight. ‘Come on, my love. Let go and see if we are eating tonight’. Sighing, Genni closed the door. ‘We have done the right thing, haven’t we?’ She asked. Nodding at her now Jonas simply said ‘we have to know’. Seeming to understand what he was talking about Genni took the hand he offered and they made their way back to the kitchen. Where they caught Martha and Daniel in a passionate embrace. ‘Take out it is then’ chimed in Jonas and spinning on their heels made for the office and the phone.
