While they all waited for Greg and Sara, Genni sat on Jonas’s lap and rested her cheek against his chest. Genni loved doing this, she always felt so close to him when he held her like this. Genni had her eyes closed so she didn’t see Rosemary and Molly looking at her as both women smiled at each other. Molly walked over to Rosemary quietly so she didn’t disturb them both. As she got closer to Rosemary, the latter held out both hands for Molly to catch hold of. Standing now barely inches apart so they could talk very quietly Molly sighed and said ‘It does my heart good to see the way Genevieve is loved here. Not just by the Alpha but by his family. Having been Sylvia’s Beta I got to see more than most the way that women treated Genni. All that girl wanted was a bit of maternal love but she never got it. I know Peter and myself always tried to support and care for her but even doing the small amounts we did would get me into trouble with the Luna. I guess I just never understood the whole situation. But now I do, it kinda makes me more sad’. Nodding at Molly, Rosemary agreed. ‘I know what your saying, I have loved that child since she got out of the car that first day and I saw the love in my sons eyes. As a mom I was a bit worried but after I spoke to her that first time I knew she was a member of my family and that I would love her as a cherished daughter in law’. Phil came up next to the two women. Looking at the couple as well but with a grin on his face he said ‘They can hear you, you know?’. ‘We know’ said the two women answering him back but they all laughed when Genni said ‘never stop telling me that guys, I think I love you all as much as you guys love me’. ‘Speaking of’ said Genni looking at Lucas. ‘Where’s dad?’ Genni was looking around but couldn’t see her father in the office. Frowning slightly, wondering where he was, Jonas clasped her hand momentarily and told her that he would call him to the office. Thanking Jonas with a sweet smile Genni saw the door open and went to welcome he Dad it instead the two new love birds walked into the office, Sara looked very pleased with herself and Greg had that sappy look guys get when they realise they are in love. Genni got off Jonas’s lap but stood by his side. Everyone else sat on the sofa’s and had turned some of the arm chairs around so they could see their Alpha and Luna. There was a soft knock on the door and then Daniel walked in. He didn’t look like himself at all. His hair was dishevelled and he looked rather sheepish. Before Lucas could ask where the old man had been Jonas Stood. He looked around his office and he took pride in what he saw staring back at him. His parents were sitting on the two seater sofa, the three seater sat Molly,Peter,Sara and his Beta Gregory. Then on chairs that had been turned he saw Daniel, Lucas and Wyatt. Who had also only now come to the office. Jonas understood that reason, Wyatt had tried to wait for Julia to be ready but having to deal with Ginger’s family in their grief was taking time so Julia had told Wyatt to go on his own. At least he wasn’t late because he was playing a game of tonsil tennis. This last part he linked with Greg who blushed a little but still grinned.
‘I think we can all agree that a very clear messaged was sent to us earlier with the attack on our border watch. I have sent our fastest warriors to the other border watch bases in the hopes that only the north border was compromised’. While he saw everyone nodding their agreement with him he still had an uneasy feeling that this was not the start they were waiting for. ‘I believe that all of you in this office today are completely trustworthy. So to that end we would like to ask if you all would be our council. An inner circle of people who we know we can trust to advise us, to caution us and to reel us in if we lose sight of our primary reason for doing all this’. Looking around them all and finally resting on the beautiful face of his Luna he carried on ‘Neither of us’ he gestured to Genni them himself ‘ want your answers now. Tomorrow will be fine. Please know that if you choose not to be in the inner circle then another permanent position will be found for you. If you say yes then I/we will expect different things from each of you. What we will ask of you will be what you already excel at. For instants, Wyatt and Lucas will remain in the academy training the warrior classes. Which you can divi up as you see fit.’ Pointing now at Molly and Peter, Jonas said ‘as for you too I’m aware that you Molly are Genni’s new Beta and will need to be by her side most of the time. I’m just thinking that the way you both are with children you could start a youth group to keep an eye on any potential warriors that might have slipped through the cracks because of their age plus I think a youth group might be a good idea anyway as it will allow the kids to talk in an informal setting’. Molly was looking straight at her Luna’s face, and would not celebrate this honour until she had the say so from Genni. Seeing this, Genni nodded her head at Molly and the latter started to beam with pride at the job she had just been allocated. Now, both of them looked toward the oldest members of the group. Rosemary, Phil and Daniel. You could see that all three were on tenterhooks to find out their jobs. Your jobs will be to collect all the information given to you by the other members of this circle. Input it and report back to Genevieve and myself twice a week. When we have called a meeting, plus I would like Daniel to base himself at the pack house. I hope I’m wrong. I really do’. Genni held his hand tightly and Jonas brought it to his lips. Seeming to get strength from it. ‘I think there may be someone amongst us that should not be here. I can’t figure out who and what really has me worried is that Genni can’t sense who it is either, I need someone who I know can run a pack if he has too and can look after the day to day needs of the house and the members that choose to be in it’. Daniel bowed his head at his Daughter and Son in Law ‘It would be a privilege to take this duty off your hands Alpha, I know your focus has to be with Genevieve and the coming unrest. I will not let either if you down’. Genni rushed over to her father and she hugged him close. ‘ you will have to have an office down here but I think I’m right in saying that there are no rooms spare?’ Genni aimed the last bit to Jonas who thought about it then said ‘there is another office down stairs and it might be perfect for you Dan. It’s just off the kitchen’. Everyone gasped and Lucas said to his father ‘you’ll have to book a permanent bed with Wyatt’s mate, Dad’. Everyone laughed except Daniel who was looking rather perplexed. Coming to his rescue genni told her father that the housekeeper, Martha, was a law unto herself and he would need to tread lighter for a few days as she got used to him being there. You could see Daniel visibly gulp, ‘I’ve not met the housekeeper yet. Every time I go in for food she is never there’. Daniel explained that he had caught sight of her the first morning they all arrived but had not been able to introduce himself as yet. Jonas had a small frown on his face has he listened to Daniel speak. He would need to look into that, he hoped Martha hadn’t been offended by someone, as he thought this his eye’s slid to Lucas. Before Genni started to talk again Sara put her hand up slowly, like they were still in school. ‘You don’t have to do put your hand up here Sara’ said Jonas chuckling at her. They heard a growl coming from Greg’s mouth, and looking at his Alpha and Luna he slapped his hand in front of his mouth looking aghast. Sara had a look of shock followed quickly by trepidation on her face. Genni didn’t give either of them time to apologise. Shaking her head at the two of them Genni said ‘don’t ever apologise for standing up for your mate, Greg. It’s only natural. And I believe I know what your question was going to be Sara’. Smiling at her friend Genni could see the look of bewilderment land on her face ‘how do you know what I was going to ask?’. Laughing out loud now Genni threw her arms around her friend and said ‘I’m so happy that you are here. I missed you so much in the few weeks we didn’t see each other’s. Sara hugged her back but still wanted to know how Genni would have known her question. It was Greg who answered her and when he explained that the Luna could hear anyones thoughts if she choose to listen, Sara went bright red even the tips of her ears were turning red. ‘Sara, I would never do that’ she admonished.
