Sapphire and I both looked expectantly at our mother. I could not wait to hear this, and I was sure Sapphire felt the same. With a serene smile, Mother started to speak. "Many years ago, before man had completely taken over this world, Deities walked the Earth, myself included. We never really got on, and because of that, existing was sometimes extremely dangerous. We each had our own domains, but as man strengthened his grip on this world, we found our domains becoming smaller and smaller, to the point where some of our domains were side-by-side. One such domain is that of the werewolf and vampire. As I said, neither people nor deities got along, but as long as we stayed in our own lands, there wasn't a problem.
When the time came that all the deities had to return to the other realm of existence, myself included, we chose to lead our people in a more spiritual way. I don't know if you know that my werewolves almost became extinct a few centuries ago due to being hunted by the other creatures, realising that werewolf blood, when ingested, can prolong life. Of course, this didn't matter to the vampires, who have prolonged life anyway, but they allowed themselves to be hired out to hunt for the other creatures. That was when I decided to level the playing field, and that was the first time I visited the Earth realm with the sole purpose of turning one of my beautiful females into a human woman so she could mate with a man. Then I changed her back and watched closely while the she-wolf carried and eventually gave birth to the first wolf hybrid. I did this many times over the next few years, also choosing a different place, a different she-wolf and a different human. My hope was that the new hybrid wolves would find each other and mate, so the new hybrid bloodline would succeed. It worked so well that four centuries was all it took to secure my new children in the new earth order. As my children could now blend in with man, like the vampire, they started to reclaim the land that the other creatures had taken from them when they were at their weakest. Now my children are all over this earth, and they even started to outnumber the Faye and the Mage. This did not impact them, as they stayed within their own boundaries and never strayed into human-populated areas. The problem that now needs to be addressed started when the Vampire Deity decided that my children needed to be controlled so we would not dominate. It was discussed between the deities and finally ruled that we deities could no longer visit the earth realm and therefore not give an unfair advantage. We were, however, allowed to have some control over our children. I for example created fated mates, so the right wolf could strengthen themselves with the discovery of the other half of their soles. You see, when I created the hybrid, for the first hundred years or so, I noticed that as a lone wolf, they could be strong, but when they found a mate, it made them stronger. Therefore, it was reasonable to create the fated mate pairing, so that the wolf soul and the human soul I had to create with the hybrid would again be complete, and therefore strengthen both wolves immeasurably. Over time, the Alpha wolf became part of the pack structure. As you know, the Alpha was always the strongest wolf in the pack and had the ability to control his pack and mind link with anyone within the said pack. I allowed this, as I thought it was a natural progression.
Around three centuries ago, I noticed that the vampires were starting to overtake all the other creatures and could only watch as many weaker packs were slaughtered, as their Alpha did not have the ability to protect them. I pondered a while on this and realised I needed an Alpha that could control and dominate any wolf, be it Alpha or Omega so that they could help the weaker packs and ensure their survival. That was when I created the Grand Alpha gene. Over the last few centuries, it appeared to only run within one bloodline, so the Quint bloodline and only the Quint bloodline would dominate any and every wolf. Now I will begin to tell you why you are both needed".
Mother looked at us both with a sad look on her beautiful face. I grew impatient with anticipation for Mother to continue talking.
" I became aware recently that the Vampires were planning on overthrowing the other creatures and turning them into their own. This would mean that the only creatures in the earthly realm would be my children, the werewolf and the Vampires. I could not let this happen, but I also could not enter the earthly realm again, as it had been forbidden. Therefore, I had to create a child that would possess all my qualities and strength. The child would also be given a wolf equal to the Grand Alpha's wolf. In doing so, I hoped that as a true Fated pair, they would have the strength and wisdom to prepare my children for the war with the vampires that I know is to come. My only issue was getting close enough to a she-wolf to impregnate her with this most special child.
With the help of the Mage Deity, who had also seen the future and knew it needed to be stopped, we discovered that I could impregnate a human woman. The only downside to this plan was that human women are so very fragile, and I knew that putting my essence within a child that she would carry and birth would, unfortunately, kill her. With the Mage's help, we found the only solution would be to find a woman close to death, but strong enough to withstand a werewolf pregnancy, as the gestation time for a werewolf cub is considerably shorter than for a human. We found a woman whose life was coming to an end due to an illness called cancer. I was able to visit her during her dreams and ask her to help me with this very special task. The human woman, who was called Elizabeth, agreed But was concerned about the child. Elizabeth was aware she would die shortly after the birth, as that was going to happen anyway. It did not disturb the thread of life but would leave the child an orphan. The grand mage explained that she would be looked after by one of his children, and when the time came, they would deliver the child to the council of elders and explain everything to them. A family would be chosen to raise the child as their own until the child turned 18, at which time her wolf would awaken. When this happened, she would find her and her wolf's Fated mate, which would of course be the Grand Alpha. Your destiny has been linked for centuries. As I am sure, you are both now aware that this special wolf and child are sitting in front of me listening to my story. I cannot begin to express how proud I am of the two of you, and I hope that when the war arrives, you will have the strength that is needed. The courage to fight and the wisdom to know when not to. Both of you can summon me to this place if you need my guidance, but that is all I can do. As my direct children, you will bear the full force of what's coming, but I know you and your mates will fulfil your destiny.
''Mother'' I said quickly, ''what happened to the human woman when she died? Where is she laid? She birthed me and I would like to pay my respects to her. I could see sapphire nod as I said this.
''My darlings, the remains of that special woman are no longer part of your earth. When she passed, I brought her to me, where she now lives in peace. Her essence is sacred to me and shall remain attached to me for the rest of my time. I will leave you now as there is a very impatient Grand Alpha trying to get your attention".
Mother smiled at us both, and with a gust of wind disappeared. We looked at each other for a moment, too startled by what we had just seen, and heard to do anything more than stare. Then Sapphire said, "Well, isn't that just fine and dandy, dump the whole world on us, why don't". I looked at Sapphire and grinned! I then became aware of someone calling me. It sounded far away at the moment, but the voice was getting stronger.
''Remember, no one knows we can trance shift," said Sapphire, warning me.
''I have to let Jonas know, I'm sorry Sapphire, he needs to know all this. As well as Jax. They both have the right to know who they are really mated with". I knew I was pleading with my wolf, but I didn't care. Sapphire thought for a moment and said, "You're right, of course, our mates need to know that our real mother is the moon goddess herself"!!
