Rykar's POV

After how I blurted out the truth and how it adversely affected the relationship, sending it spiraling downhill, I couldn't help but feel it. Like, this was a little opportunity for me to redeem myself in that useless way. It wasn't redeeming myself at all. It couldn't possibly be. However, that didn't change the fact that I was willing to try and that one way or the other, I was helping. I was going over to see her first and in the sense that she most likely needed someone to talk to deeply before the guards came to suffocate her and take her over to the palace.

I felt like I was doing a pretty good job already on my part. She seemed to be quite chatty this time around as our conversation flowed smoothly without a hitch. It was surprising because I personally expected her to be reclusive and angry, but maybe it's just because of me being the one to talk with her this time around. Yes, that had to be the solution. I didn't see her talking like this to the alpha himself or to anyone else in general due to how angry she was and how betrayed she also felt.

However, I didn't hesitate to apologize, knowing that it was the first step in building back the relationship between the both of us. I needed to let her know that I was aware of my faults and needed her to know that I was sorry because I actually was. I shouldn't have done what I did. Things were going so smoothly, and I was the one to bring the cracks in their relationship when they should be none. I felt like I was some kind of witch or something because I should really keep to myself. Crucial information like the one that I had let out shouldn't be given out so easily.

The alpha had still not talked to me about it, but I knew that when he would, I would be in a lot of trouble. But at least this time, at least just for now, I resolved to let it slide. If it was something that was still hanging on my mind when we got home, it would sort itself out. The solution to the problem would come, and I would go through the consequences when they came. But for now, it was just me and her, and I was giving her my listening ear and my concerned heart just to show how much I cared.

It was such a pity that this drive was not going to last as long as I would rather it did. Clearly, sooner or later, I would be leaving her to her room, probably to even meet the alpha or something. However, I was determined to make the most of it while I still had the opportunity to, and I was ready to ensure that I set her on the right track and make her mindset the best it could be regarding the issue she was going to face concerning the alpha.

Now, I didn't really want to think about what the solution the alpha had come to was. In my mind, I'd rather keep it to myself because it was absolutely against the point. Having revealed information she should not trust, the alpha, she should know who he really was and decide whether or not she could still trust him, if anything at all. But I was resolved already that I needed to try to get her back to liking him. I wasn't sure how far I could do that with my mind running against that idea, but I would have to give it a try and hope that it would pay off.

Me and her were silent. She had been for the last one minute or so. I frowned, checking my watch. This wasn't right. It couldn't go on like this because if it did, then we'd miss the entire conversation. This opportunity to have the one-on-one heart-to-heart with her would be passed even before we were able to establish any connection whatsoever. I shook my head. I would solve the problem before it came down to this.

"So," I opened my mouth, determined that we would have a conversation whether or not she was ready to say anything to me. "What did you find?" I asked her.

She looked at me sharply. A question in her eyes. I frowned at the reaction she gave me. She acted as if the question was spot on when in truth I had just said it. I was absolutely not expecting anything much, not on the call to the reaction from her.

"Yes, what you found," I asked again since I had gotten the appropriate line. I would simply have to push forward with it, and sooner or later I would get the best answer I could possibly get from her.

"What are you talking about?" she asked me. I smiled silently, taking a couple of seconds to actually compose myself. Naturally, she would feign ignorance. It was common and also understandable that she would try to run away. But that was where I truly came in. I was offering to let her run away, even from reality. I would simply pull her back until I got her to open up to me.

"You went away for quite a long time. And the alpha had been looking for you since. As if you were looking for something," I continued slowly. "So what did you find?"

I knew that I might as well be taking up the tension from her when I saw the way her shoulders relaxed. She had been thinking that I actually knew something. Well, it would have been better for me to keep up that facade, but it was impossible in the end because I didn't actually know anything. And as much as I could, and as much as I was trying to push a reaction out of her due to the fear, it was not a lasting option, so I might as well give it up.

"I didn't find anything," she said softly, looking away. I frowned, looking at her.

"Seriously? Since when did we start hiding things from each other?" I questioned. "Sure, we might have our own personal secrets, but we don't keep them away from each other," I said slowly, looking at her intensely. "It's the beauty of our relationship with each other," I continued.

She bowed her head silently. And for a while, I just couldn't take my eyes off her. She was the prettiest person I had ever seen. I could watch her all day and ignore the road, resulting in an accident or something like that for all I cared. Hell, I wouldn't even feel very remorseful if such a thing happened. It was what she was able to do to me and anyone else. But I wasn't sure how much I could continue living with this because it was already affecting my actions. Even though I pretended that I was talking with her as a friend, she would be the one answering instead of me.

"I found a lot of things," she said. "Small things, big things."

"Let's start with the small ones," I told her, happy that she was finally ready to open up to me at all.

"Well, I found that people are bitches and no one is to be trusted. The alpha is very secretive and who runs so much without giving anything in return?" she started off ranting and didn't stop until about one or two minutes of complaints filled with words that it sounded good enough to be some kind of rap.

"Wow," I responded, simply because I really didn't know how to match that energy or if there was any way I could help her with the way she was right now. She was panting, looking at me with a frown on her face.

"Take it easy," I responded, not having any particular reply for her. "Don't worry," I continued with a nice smile. "But if I have any advice for you, you should try your best to ignore some faults of certain people if you really want to like them," I said. "He might not be perfect now, he might never be perfect, but maybe you could overlook the bad sides and look at the good sides. You know, he's not going to change so much when he doesn't even know he has offended you as much as he has."

"The truth," she said with some kind of conviction in her voice that I knew better than to try to convince her against.

"And then you said you found out something big," I started once again, wondering personally what it could be. She looked away out through the window.

I was confident that she would tell me. She had gone this far. "Come on," I said gently.

"I found out, and not just in my words, I even went to the hospital... I found out that I'm pregnant with his child."
