Hundred and Fourteen

Hundred and Fourteen

Ryker's POV

Time seemed to stretch out before me as I held her in my arms in a tight hug. The alpha wasn't saying anything—either he couldn't see us at all, or he did and he didn't care. I couldn't really fathom the reason, but I couldn't help but feel incredibly happy to finally be with her again. This was the best feeling I had experienced in a very long time, and I couldn't help but wish it wouldn't end.

I felt the ecstasy within me. The tears filled her eyes. I knew without a doubt that they had tried something with her. They had harmed her one way or another, and that had me growing with anger and making up my mind. Even if it was just emotionally that they had hurt her, I was going to make them pay for it severely. They would pay dearly with their lives, especially this Davis. Though I was more interested somewhat in teaching Alpha Jerome a lesson for being a co-conspirator, because I knew without a doubt that he was.

Thinking of the chances of him being an accomplice, I couldn't help but feel enraged. I hated them with a passion now. Previously it was just mild anger, but now it consumed every side of my being. I would rather they absolutely disappeared from the face of the earth.

I didn't continue to think, however—there were many problems and things I had to do. I had to get back at them because I was busy. If I had to shield her, I had to admit, it was not what I actually expected. I think Davis himself wasn't that strong. Hell, he wasn't even up to taking me down if it came down to it. But he did have a couple of strong men who, I had to admit, were a real menace. It was actually shocking how much damage they could deal by themselves as they assisted him in his crimes.

Right now, they seemed to genuinely be men of war, as they fought passionately, dealing damage to my own men. Well, that was something to their advantage—they were good at combat. But now, did that really matter? Staring at the people taking part right now in the fight, I couldn't help but feel my blood boiling. I couldn't continue watching. Not when the world had things for me to do, like taking care of her, but fighting right now was pretty much the best way I could protect her, and so I decided that that was what I would do.

I jumped into the fray, fleeting quickly from one man to another, and teaching them the reason why they shouldn't cross me, not when it involved someone that I cared about deeply. They were doing their best to hold these positions, but soon enough I could tell that it wasn't about victory anymore. We had somehow passed that stage, and they understood that if they could only clinch a win, it would be good enough.

Laughing a little, I continued wrecking havoc. Davis was my main goal and priority. If I could teach him a lesson, I would feel fulfilled in this fight. Now I hated him with more than a passion, and I was already making up my mind what I would do in the end. It wasn't a difficult task for me to accomplish, not if I really put my mind to it.

The plan was absolutely simple. I'm sure that once I captured him, it wouldn't take me much to secure his death in the most brutal ways. We could even take him back along with me—that was another way of doing this. We could simply take him back and then ensure that we locked him up in the dungeon or even held him hostage against his father as punishment. The list of what we could do to him for his crimes was endless.

As I thought about it, I couldn't help but smile more and more at the possibilities present before me. But I had to take hold of myself in order to succeed in my goal. The fight stretched out long and hard, with both parties doing their best and no one willing to give up an advantage for even a moment. Personally, I simply thought that they were being tough guys—they didn't have what it took to win, and I simply needed to be diligent in order to grasp that victory that I sought.

I looked to see that somehow Amelia was completely gone. My heart beat quickly, filling me with adrenaline. I knew what the chances were, but I also knew that there were greater odds that she would be captured again by one of them secretly trying to escape with her, as he valued her more than the entire battle, just the way I did myself. I could hardly believe my eyes when I noticed that she was gone, and I was doing everything I possibly could to ensure I got her back. But first of all, I needed to beat him—then I could ask him some questions about her whereabouts.

Soon I saw the alpha holding Davis by the scruff of his neck. He had won—that wasn't new, it was to be expected even. Naturally, we easily won this as it was. Right now, I couldn't help but feel elated as I walked towards one of the big soldiers that was against us, who had dropped his weapon. The others started dropping their weapons too, an indication that they acknowledged they had lost and they were willing to give in now that their ace was gone.

"If you kept fighting," he growled, anger in his voice, but I ignored him while they did so also. Meanwhile, the alpha was shaking him up so badly that I started to wonder if he would like to eat him up or something. The alpha made easy work of them, picking up Davis and throwing him to the floor with such force I could hardly believe that he was doing that to the son of Alpha Jerome. The way he was doing it without any form of hesitation.

Did he realize that in the process he could just sort of accidentally kill him altogether and then there would be a full-blown war? However, right now he didn't seem to care as he breathed heavily.

"Where is Amelia?" he said, with evidence of anger in his voice.

"How am I supposed to know?" the latter replied, but I was pretty sure he regretted it the next moment when the alpha was stepping on him harder and squeezing his neck as if trying to get out the breath from him altogether.

"Where is she?" he questioned once again, the anger in his tone of voice evident.

"I have no idea," he confessed. "Quickly, please, let me go."

We both looked at each other, and I could tell that the alpha didn't know what to choose, what to decide now. The other guy was saying he claimed not to know. Could we believe him? Could he be telling the truth at all? Or was it simply a kind of trick on his part?

I didn't really know what to think, but I knew that there would be hardly anything to think if I let the alpha do what was in his mind. Even now he had murder's expression on his face. He seemed like he would do absolutely anything right now. To hold her in his arms, and shaking him up like he wasn't human was just part of it, just the beginning.

I wanted to tell the alpha to restrain himself, but I wasn't sure how I could do that. He seemed to already have made up his mind and he seemed to be already too far down the road to turn around.

"We'll find her," I said, but the alpha wasn't looking at me. He wasn't looking at anything. His eyes were glazed over as he raised his claws up. My eyes widened in shock. What on earth did he intend to do? Did he know the consequences of killing him, or did he think that he could simply pass down judgment to anyone? Sure, Davis was wrong and Davis needed punishment one way or another, but as much as he wanted, he really couldn't afford to hurt him, not when there were a lot of issues that would arise as a result.

"You can't kill him!" I shouted again, but his eyes remained the same with that expression, without even a single shift. It was then that I knew that words would have no effect. If Davis was going to survive—and he should, because the consequences would be just as dire as Amelia dying or anyone hurting her—I needed to do something, and I couldn't just stay here talking it out with the alpha since he was obviously not listening.

I made my move quickly before it would be too late, my hand turning into a claw and meeting his right in the middle of the air above Davis's head. His eyes met mine, filled with anger and rage, but I maintained my stance, not backing down in the least, staring down at the alpha and challenging him openly now. I knew that there might be consequences, but I also knew that what I was doing was right, and in this context, I had the right to challenge him because what he wanted was absolutely ridiculous.

We stood there, staring at each other as I waited for whatever the hell would happen to happen. I mean, I was gone at this somewhat anyway, so what more could go wrong for me?
