Chapter 51 HER COLLAPSE WAS A GAME- THE CONSEQUENCES WERE NOT
Celestia's POV
Perhaps I had underestimated Medea just a bit.
I had seen more than enough people drained of all their strength collapse, their bodies far too weakened to carry them forward.
She was so unnatural and clunky that if the severity of the situation had been lost on me I might have actually burst into laughter at her attempt.
"Guards, what are you just standing there for? Call one of the doctors on stand by...!"
Raphael abruptly stopped speaking, his eyes flicking between Lucian and me as if he had said something he shouldn't have, then he curled his bottom lip into his mouth and snapped that to them again, this time he didn't repeat the doctor's part.
He was definitely acting suspiciously.
My first thought was that perhaps Medea's health had faltered over the years, but from what I can see on the surface she seemed to be as fit as a fiddle but if the doctors weren't for her sake then who else would carry such importance in the alpha pack House to have doctors waiting on them.
The answer to that lingered in the dark corner of my mind but I did not allow it to come forward instead I kicked it back trembling where I started then I felt solutions with one of my hands his own keeping me steady like an anchor through the storm.
His eyes told me to be patient as slips fell in a straight line and I took a deep needed breath.
Raphael took the media's unconscious body away, my eyes trailing after them until they were out the door.
I was still under the impression that this was just an act to avoid responsibility for what she had said and done but I decided to lean back a bit and give them enough time to dig themselves into another hole that they couldn't quite fix.
"Celestia.."Lucian called my name and I turned my head to him.
"Yes?"
"How did you put up with these people for so long? Anyone can tell that she was pulling an act just now, how despicable."
His hand still rested over mine, I could see what he was doing even though he didn't say it out of the blue. He was trying to distract me from what weighed on my mind.
Again he was going beyond anything our arrangement needed him to do, the factor that he sincerely cared about, and he wasn't just putting on a facade or a show for my own comfort, which made it seep deeper.
I couldn't help but remember all those years back, when I wanted at least one person to be by my side.
Back then I thought that person was Raphael, who could have blamed me?
Was I so foolish for hoping that my mate would stand by me?
Was my trust that blind?
I brushed my finger over his silent acknowledgment of his reassurance then I hoisted myself up from the chair looking towards him. He was already standing straight towering over me as he usually did.
"Let's see how they'll try to cover this up now," I said, Lucian walked behind me close enough that I was always bathed by his scent.
The guards took us to the Luna chambers.
My chest got a little tight before I stepped in; this had once been mine, not that I held any lingering feelings about it or anything; this place was just far too intermingled with painful memories for me to hold anything precious in the past.
.
When I walked into the Chambers my eyes soon came to Medea lying on the bed and the center of attention, the mood I had expected when walking in was diverse from what I saw before me.
Medea had 'regained consciousness' and she was smiling from one cheek over to the other her look could easily be reflected on Raphael's face. As for the doctor that was attending to her it took me a moment but her face clicked into the puzzles of my past.
Just then my chest came a little tighter.
She wasn't just any Doctor, it was the same pack doctor that had delivered Asher five years ago, the same one who saw me go through the agony of childbirth and make it through on the other side all the to turn her back on me and claim that the child she personally saw me deliver acting out of the forefront of that same delivery had been stolen.
It was her testimony to the Elder Council that was the final nail in the coffin.
Any hope of justice for me and reuniting me with Asher was gone forever after the lies that she uttered.
She looked at me, dark circles drawn under her eyes but she snapped to alertness when her eyes met mine, she noticed nobody was acting oddly about my presence and had enough sense to keep her lips zipped.
She looked away quickly after meeting my eyes, and Lucian stepped forward. I'm sure he had not missed that interaction and already noted it in his mind the curt way he addressed the doctor.
"Your Luna suddenly passed out, is she unwell?" He asked, just like me, he must have figured out that the whole mood of the place was a little odd since she had passed out and everyone should have looked far more worried than they appeared to be. In fact, they looked too happy.
The doctor, Carla Dawn flared her throat as if there was something stuck there then spoke with her eyes mostly on the floor.
"She's fine... actually there's good news she's-"
"She's pregnant!" Raphael beat her to the announcement, leaving a reign of kisses all over the media's face as he continued to repeat it over and over again.
"She's pregnant, my lovely Luna is pregnant!"
I found myself leaning into Lucian for support without realizing it and he was quick to grab my waist to support me from falling.
Was Medea pregnant?
