Chapter 51

Savannah's POV

“Where were you?”

“Gathering my thoughts for tomorrow.”

“You better not screw this up.”

“Why are you so afraid?”

“I'm not.”

“Yes you are.”

“Don't test my patience, Rose. Go to sleep. It's late.”

Of course she was afraid. She had every reason to. Before I discovered who the traitor was, I wanted to tell everyone that I regained my memories. Now that couldn't have been done. Not until tomorrow. The first step was to destroy that orb. Dalia didn't suspect anything. She was so engrossed in winning that I got the upper hand. I could use the Orb of Love as punishment, but I wasn't sure how the others would stomach that. I had all the cards, I just needed to play them wisely. Morning came and I was ready. Ready for battle. Ready to destroy those two. Ready to go back to my family.

“Where are we going?”

“To Heaven.”

“I have a plan. Why not force them to come here to Earth? Let them see everything we do to destroy their home.”

“How can you draw them out?”

“Easy. Just watch.”

I opened a portal out of Salem. No innocent humans would get caught in the crossfire. With that I pushed against the veil. Strong enough for every angel to feel it, but not strong enough to shatter it. I was right. They came. All of them with grandma and a man, who I assumed was my grandpa, at the front. I wanted to hug them, hug my father, hug my cousins, but I knew I had to wait. Then I spotted him. He was standing there proudly as if being sure they'd win today. Rage was building up in me. Today I was the cat and the two of them were the mice.

“Are you ready, Dalia?”

“Ready as I can be.”

Beforehand I opened a portal for the witches. They were invisible, thanks to a cloaking spell. They were here with us and once they got their powers back the spell would disappear. I gathered my strength and as she released it from the orb I siphoned it. I was strong enough to do that and I didn't even feel a thing.

“What's happening? Why isn't this working?”

“I don't know.”

By that time the power burst out and settled back inside the witches and angels. I did it. I gave back their powers that belong only to them and nobody else. I let Dalia manipulate me once and force me into a corner. She didn't know my true strength. She didn't realize what I was capable of seeing through her lies.

“Stupid! What did you do?”

“Nothing. The spell must've been wrong.”

“No! I checked it.”

“Dalia, are you sure? You were in a hurry. You might've missed something.”

“Shut up and do something!”

She was right this time. I did something. Something that should've been avoided from the beginning. Something should've never happened, but it did. I let that happen. Not anymore. Until I was baiting Dalia, the witches joined the angels. Martha and Cedric arrived respectively. I spotted my mom, but I couldn't show my emotions. Not yet. Gabriel and Zamyr were here too. They looked at me pleadingly, but I acted indifferently. I couldn't show weakness. I just had to hold on a little more. Just a few more minutes. Ten. Maybe fifteen more. In the chaos I noticed him sneaking around. He knew I'd strike and he didn't want to be in the middle of it. Either he suspected something or he was simply a pathetic coward. If I had to guess it was the latter. He left his soulmate alone and he went to find a hiding place. I didn't do anything. I knew my magic balls would find him anywhere. He had no chance of escaping them. He wouldn't go far and leave behind Dalia. At least I believed that. From what I saw they loved each other. All this could've been avoided if he'd have done the same thing as my father. Leave and be with the woman he loved. Instead they planned to get revenge. They lost the chance of having a family. He was still young, while Dalia was now an old woman.

“Don't do this. We can still solve this without bloodshed.”

“No, we can't. Today you all die.”

I failed to realize that somehow Dalia regained part of her power and now launched an attack. I had no clue when that happened. It didn't matter though. We were stronger than her. She was easily overpowered once the others started their attack. She was still trying to cling to her powers that were already beginning to fade. Maybe obtaining the witches' powers for a short while gave a surge to her own powers, but that was it. You can't lit a fire with a match that's already burnt.

“Don't just stand there. Attack!”

And I did. She was so lost in her rage and the need for power that she didn't even realize that none of my attacks injured or killed anyone. The magic balls simply collided with the ground or with nearby trees. That was the moment everyone realized I wasn't helping Dalia anymore. I faintly smiled at my family, showing them I knew everything. Their attacks became fiercer and fiercer. I lost sight of that bastard of a traitor, but it didn't matter. I looked them in the eyes, trying to tell them to attack me too. I was strong, they couldn't and wouldn't hurt me. My cousins were the first ones who realized what I was asking. Slowly Dalia was surrounded. She realized it too late. One blow from Martha took her down completely. It was time for me to reveal the truth. At least part of it. I had the desire to crush those two slowly and painfully. They caused so much misery to everyone around them. Especially Dalia. Her mate was just the puppetmaster. Coward enough to bow down to my grandma and Gabriel. He could've easily destroyed the realm from inside, but he didn't. He wanted to take down each of them.

“My, my, what a sight!”

“What?”

“Look at you! How clueless you are still! I got my memories back, Dalia. This is the end for you. Today you'll die.”

“You fool! You think you can win? No! Kill me, do anything you want, but this battle won't end with me dying.”

“As you wish.”

I released two magic balls. The same ones that took Gabriel down once, only with a little more spice to them. But they weren't racing towards Dalia. They were racing towards that traitor.

“Pathetic! I'm right in front of you and yet you missed.”

“I don't think so.”

Just as I finished the sentence, there was a painful yell coming from the treeline. They found the target.

“I know of your mate, Dalia. I know of your plans. I have to admit you were clever. You screwed everything up when you became too greedy. Everyone, meet the traitor who helped her for decades. Ladies and gentlemen. Witches, angels and fae. Kings and Queen. Meet the traitor, Lieutenant Ezekiel.”
