Chapter 52
Savannah's POV
With that I yanked him out of his hiding spot with my magic. That was the moment when Dalia realized I knew about everything. She naively thought that Ezekiel would be able to escape and carry out their plans. She was mistaken.
“Savannah, what are you saying?”
“Grandma! These two are soulmates. They've been planning everything for decades. They were able to hide this from everyone. I know this is a shock. I was shocked too when I found this out. They did everything so they could be together.”
“How?”
“It's simple, Dalia. Seers see the future. I'm special. I see the present. Who says I can't see the past? I didn't think I'd find this. I just simply wanted to see what happened to that book with the prophecies. I just wanted to see how you found it. I know that Ezekiel killed the Priestess to get his hands on the book. I know he gave it to you. I know you planned to kill me before things got out of hand for you. I know he destroyed the book.”
“No! You ruined everything! We could've ruled together. You could've been my right hand. You could've had everything.”
“I know that the moment you didn't need me you would've killed me. I was just a puppet to do your deeds. I regained my memories. I did it because I was determined. You lost. To be honest, I wanted to use a special object to discover the truth, but I don't think it's necessary. Unless there's still something I don't know of.”
“Do you think that anything can make me talk?”
“I don't think that, I know that. If a Saint can't resist how can you?”
“You wouldn't dare!”
“I would. You don't frighten me anymore, Dalia. I'll deal with you and I'll let Queen Seraphina deal with your mate as she sees fit.”
“Leave him alone!”
“Why should she do that? One of her subordinates tried to harm her and her family.”
“Let's make a deal.”
“I'm not a fool, Dalia. I won't make a deal with you. You don't have any cards left for you to play. You lost.”
“Savannah, let's talk.”
“I promise we'll talk, grandma, but later. Let's deal with these two and then we'll have all the time in the world to talk.”
“I don't have a good feeling about this.”
“I don't think they can do anything else.”
“Do you remember the prophecy about your cousins?”
“Yes, why?”
“That prophecy is still not fulfilled. They didn't protect you from anything. You were the one protecting yourself so far.”
“Do you think…?”
“I don't know. Let's hope not.”
“If it makes you feel better, I can ask her.”
“Do you think she'd tell you?”
“Grandma, I have the Lyre of Truth, she doesn't have a chance.”
“Do it then. Better be safe than sorry.”
I understood my grandma. She was worried that something might happen to me. Moments later I was holding the Lyre in my hands, ready to be used. I didn't have the chance though. As Ezekiel was waking up, he wasn't exactly Ezekiel. He somehow became a true monster.
“Foolish girl! You underestimated us once again. We had a backup plan in case things went wrong.”
“What did you do, Dalia?”
“Nothing, really. We are just simply giving a chance to Typhon to stretch his limbs after living in exile for so long. We knew this moment might come. If we can't live then neither can you.”
As soon as Dalia finished talking that creature who once was Ezekiel attacked. One minute into the battle and we were losing. I wasn't attacking, not yet. I was waiting, but for what I didn't know. There had to be a spell or something that could kill this monster or at least put it back to where it came from. I needed time, but I needed help the most. I couldn't leave to ask the Saints. I had to figure this out. We didn't stand a chance if I couldn't figure something out. And I had to do that quickly. Apparently I knew the most dangerous spells and had access to the objects too. I needed to find something, but for that I needed some time and privacy.
“Can you keep it busy? I need to find a spell or an object among the ones I obtained when I crossed the veil.”
“Sure, do what you have to do.” - grandma answered.
With that all of them formed a protective circle around me. I emptied my mind as much as I could. Slowly spells started to come to my mind, but none of them were the ones I needed. I could hear bodies hitting the ground around me and it was getting harder and harder to concentrate. Then I found it. The Sacred Chains. That's what Zeus used to capture all the creatures.
“Savannah!”
My cousins yelled, but it was too late. I didn't realize that I was unprotected. The monster was coming straight towards me. I saw everything in slow motion. There was no way I could obtain the chains in time. Then to my horror the twins jumped in front of the monster, followed by the triplets. They were trying to give me more time. I found the right spell easier than I found the object. Just as the chains appeared in my hands, the monster threw my cousins away like they were rag dolls. They were yelling in pain. The monster hurt them. Furiously, I advanced towards it and attacked. I had to wait for the right moment to use the chain. I was getting tired, yet the monster didn't seem to be affected. I had to end this. There was nobody else who could help me. I was alone. Then I found its weakness. I lashed out and the chains wrapped around its torso. The roar it released was deafening. I chanted the last part of the spell and the chain lit up. It basically became molten lava and the monster was gone. Then the chain went back to normal and disappeared.
“Savannah!”
“Maddie, what the hell? How did you get here?”
“Does that matter? I missed you. Never leave me alone again, do you hear me?”
“I won't Maddie. I promise. We'll talk about this later.”
“Fine, let's check on the others.”
That's when I remembered the painful yell coming from one of the guys earlier. I rushed towards them and saw blood. A lot of blood. Raziel and Cael were badly injured, the others were just unconscious.
“Maddie, help me!”
“What do you need me to do?”
“Anything to slow down the bleeding until I find someone to help.”
“Who? We're all alone here.”
“Me.”
I had so many different powers. There had to be something I could use to stitch the wounds up until we get them to a hospital or at least a doctor. I concentrated with all my might on helping them. I put my hands on Cael's deep gash on his abdomen and I watched fascinated as the wound healed. I didn't need any spells, just the desire to heal. I quickly repeated the action with Raziel. I did it, all of us survived. I watched as Zadkiel opened his eyes, but he wasn't looking at me. He was looking at Maddie.
“We found you, darling. Welcome home.”
Maddie was their soulmate. They got their happy ending.
