Chapter 45

Savannah’s POV

There stood an army with three people up front. Two male and one female. The female was quite old, but the two men didn’t look older than 30. I had no idea who they were. Judging from Dalia’s expression they were bad news. I felt a strange pull towards the men that I haven’t felt for anyone else.

“Savannah, what happened to you? Why are you siding with her?”

“I’m not Savannah. Who are you? We didn’t do anything wrong, just leave us alone.”

“This is a serious situation, Savannah. Stop joking and let’s go home.”

“One, I’m not joking. Two, I’m not going anywhere especially if you want to bring me back to my family who wants to kill me.”

“What did you do to her, Dalia?” - the woman asked furiously.

“I haven’t done anything, mother. You were the ones who caused this, more precisely Seraphina. I simply helped her recover when she was on the verge of death.”

“I regret giving birth to you, Dalia. I should’ve told her to kill you when she had the chance to avoid this mess you’d caused.”

“Then do it. Kill me now, but I don’t think Rose will let you do that. Isn’t that right?”

“That’s right. You should leave now, or you’ll become my slave until you die.”

“Did she tell you what kind of magic she possesses? Let me guess, the answer is no. She was stripped from her powers by you not too long ago. Then she found the source of the dark magic. Even though you can’t remember, I think you know that no creature should possess dark magic.”

“Is this true, Dalia?”

“Part of it. It’s true that I have dark magic, but possessing it was an accident. I wasn’t stripped from my powers by you, my mother took it away from me. I had no intention of possessing dark magic, but it just happened.”

“Oh, quit lying once and for all. Savannah, open your mind and do what you think is right. Don’t let her manipulate you.”

I was lost. I didn’t know who to believe anymore. A headache was slowly forming and I felt like screaming.

“Enough! Stop saying that you’re right. It’s clear that someone is lying. Why would Dalia help me if she didn’t have good intentions?”

“Because she knows you’re stronger than her. With you on her side she doesn’t have to lift a finger to conquer the realms. Just think about her actions so far. Has she done anything or was it only you? We were so worried about you when you disappeared without a trace. Apart from Dalia, nobody wants you dead.”

“Don’t listen to her. You were locked up by Seraphina, your grandmother. The three of them knew it, but didn’t do anything to help you or stop her. Do you want to go back and be a prisoner for the rest of your immortal life? Do you want to be murdered?”

Hearing those sentences from Dalia, panic consumed me. They were the ones who wanted me dead or lock me up for eternity.

“You should’ve just left when you had the chance.”

“What are you talking about?”

I didn’t answer and started chanting. My army just tripled in numbers.

“From now on you’ll stay here. Go and wait for me at the witches’ houses.”

One by one the people started walking towards the houses except for the two men who stood there in utter shock visible on their faces.

“What did you just do?”

“That’s not important. I’m more concerned about the fact that the two of you are still here.”

“What kind of spell did you use?”

“I told you it’s nothing. Why didn’t it work for you?”

“Because we’re your soulmates. Soulmates cannot put spells on each other.”

“What? I don’t understand.”

“Supernatural creatures have soulmates. I’m Zamyr and he’s Gabriel. Our bond prevents us from using spells and other enchantments on each other. No matter what you try it won’t work. Can you release everyone now, please?”

“I won’t. How can I be sure that you’re telling the truth?”

“Even if you don’t believe my words, which hurts by the way, believe my actions. Believe the bond between us. I know you can feel it, you just don’t know what that pull means.”

“Is it true that you knew I was locked up and couldn’t leave?”

“Yes, but we couldn’t do anything. Your grandmother tried to keep you safe, because you’re a very stubborn person. She’s the Queen and no one can override her. The only villain in this story is the woman standing next to you.” - the other male, Gabriel stated.

“How touching and all, but what about the part where she hated you and she was terrified of you when you first met?”

“Oh, for the love of God! Stop saying only partial truths. She didn’t know that the supernatural world existed when she met me.”

“I’m not talking about you, Zamyr. I’m talking about Gabriel. By then she knew very well that there are supernatural creatures.”

“Stop trying to confuse her. She just found her parents and she was trying to protect them from Queen Seraphina’s desperation. She wanted to get her son back.”

“Come here Rose and I’ll show you the truth.”

Dalia was holding her hand towards me. For a moment I hesitated, but she grabbed my hand and pictures exploded in front of my eyes. Zamyr was standing above me and I was screaming from the pain. He just watched me did nothing. Then there was Gabriel, hurling magic balls towards me and in the end he watched me collapse and lose consciousness. Then I was trying to leave Heaven, but I couldn’t and a woman looking exactly like me just stood there and watched me. She said she wouldn’t let me leave. After these moments from my life I gasped. Dalia was telling the truth. All of them wanted to hurt me again as they did in the past. Back then I couldn’t do anything, but this time it was different. I wouldn’t let them walk over me again. This time I’ll fight back with all my might.

“You liars!” - I yelled and my magic burst out of me.

They had quick reflexes and Gabriel conjured a shield, but as soon as my magic collided with it, it was gone. I was much stronger than them.

“Damn! She must’ve gotten her angel powers too. She’s stronger than before.”

“That’s right. This time I won’t let you hurt me again. I saw everything you’ve done to me in the past.” - I said as I sent a magic ball towards them again.

“Let’s get out of here, Gabriel. We don’t know what Dalia showed her that made her mad enough to fight us. My magic is useless and she’s a lot stronger than you. Her magic is popping your shield like it’s just a thin balloon. We’ll come back later.”

“I’m not leaving. You can, but I won’t.”

“Don’t be stupid. You’ll be squished like a bug. We need to tell the others what happened here today.”

“Savannah, we won’t leave you here. I don’t know what you saw, but we would never hurt you and we’ll prove that to you. Please, listen to your instincts. They were never wrong.”

Then they just vanished into thin air and my magic ball collided with a tree instead, splitting it into half. They almost tricked me with their sweet words.

“Thank you for showing me this.”

“They were your memories you shared with me. You told me not to talk about them again, but it was necessary to show you.”

“I’m not mad at you. Let’s go back and start planning. I can’t put them under a spell, so we need to find another way.”

“We have time. No spells are necessary if everyone else will be under your influence. They’ll be outnumbered and will be forced to give up.”

“Then let’s do that. Who should we start with?”

“It doesn’t matter. The only problem is that we need access into the realms first. Do you know a spell for that?”

“No, there’s no such a spell. The veil cannot be destroyed with force.”

“Then our plans have to be put on hold until we find a solution. Invading the faeries’ realm by force cost me the ability to access my magic fully. That’s why I cannot show you how strong I am.”

“Is there a way to get your magic back?”

“That’s the problem. It’s gone forever. I wouldn’t have dragged you into this mess if I still had my magic.”

“Don’t worry, you have me.”

On our way back we were silent. I tried to remember my past, but all I got was a headache and blurry vision. Whatever happened, it messed with my memories pretty well. Was it a spell, a curse or something entirely different? I needed to get my memories back to get the full picture.

“I’ll lay down a bit if that’s okay.”

“Of course. So many things happened today and you shouldn’t tire yourself out too much. I don’t want to see you unconscious for a week again.”

“It won’t get to that, I’ll be careful. Tomorrow I’ll ask the witches if they know how to get your powers back or if it’s possible.”

Two hours later I was still wide awake even though I was tired. Today’s events were replaying in my head. I tried to understand how the two men, my soulmates, could fake their concerns. Their actions and facial expressions seemed genuine, but then there were my memories Dalia showed me. Either they were amazing actors, or those memories weren’t mine or they were forged somehow.

*“I’ll always be here with you, Savannah. Don’t forget that. Open your heart and mind and see the truth. Don’t always believe your eyes, believe your heart too.”

I woke up immediately after that strange dream. I didn’t even know when I fell asleep. That voice sounded familiar, I could’ve sworn I heard it before. I couldn’t pinpoint where, though. What did she mean by believing my heart too, not just my eyes. Was it possible that I was being deceived? The only question was by whom; by those men or by Dalia? She also called my Savannah. Can my name really be Savannah and not Rose, or is it both? I had more and more questions as time passed. It was time to look for answers, not just discovering more and more questions. I had no idea where to start though. Dalia couldn’t know about my little research before I knew for sure who’s been telling the truth.
