Chapter 46

Gabriel’s POV

“What do you mean we lost all the scouts?”

“I’m sorry my Queen. Savannah’s not herself, she lost her memories, but she has her angel powers. We don’t know what Dalia told her, but she’s being brainwashed. She put everyone else under some kind of spell.”

“So you’re telling me that now she has a skilled army consisting of witches, fae and angels?”

“Yes.”

“We almost convinced her that Dalia’s been lying to her, but then she grabbed her hand and showed her something. That’s when she started attacking us. She burst my shield with a single blow.”

“I’m sure you have some theories about what could’ve happened.”

“I think she found Iris’ grimoire when she crossed the veil. Losing her memories might be the sacrifice she needed to make to access her powers.”

“I think so too. Her task now is to get those memories back. What about Dalia?”

“I think something’s not quite right with her powers. She didn’t do anything and she was trying to get Savannah out of there as quickly as possible before we showed up.”

“I think her earlier forceful invasion made her lose her powers. They were still unstable and she used too much of it. I need to look into this. If it’s true, we can take her down.”

“Let’s not forget about Savannah. Right now she thinks we want to kill her. She won’t trust us.”

“Let’s look into this matter. We need to turn her against Dalia which won’t be an easy task. Go back to Salem, but stay invisible. Take the fae king with you too. Right now you’re the only people she cannot put under any spell or kill you.”

“Should we just observe, or look for evidence that Dalia’s the villain?”

“I won’t tell you what to do, but as soon as there’s movement, report back.”

“Of course. I’ll leave now. The sooner we go back there the better.”

I just found Savannah and I had no intention of losing her when things finally got better. I packed some clothes and everyday necessities and I was back to Salem. Zamyr appeared next to me a few minutes later.

“What now? Where are we staying?” - he asked me.

“I think we should go back to her parents’ old house. There is no shield around the house, so we need to be careful. Right now that’s our best option.”

“We need to make sure that she gets her memories back. The longer she’s with Dalia the more dangerous it is for her.”

“For her and everyone else. She commands an army now. Combining their strength makes them practically unstoppable. We don’t know how many new spells she knows and how strong she truly is.”

“I have a theory, it might be bullshit, but what if it’s true? If Iris hid the grimoire in the veil, could others hide things in it as well? What if Savannah obtained all the knowledge that’s been locked up in the veil?”

“Honestly, let’s hope that’s not the case. My mother used to tell me bedtime stories. According to that story there are two reasons for creating the veil. One which is known to everyone and the other which might be just a rumor. The other purpose was to lock up books and artifacts that are extremely dangerous in the wrong hands. Those items were sealed and the information inside them cannot be written down or said out loud. And let me remind you, that Iris didn’t hide the grimoire inside the veil intentionally. It must’ve contained dangerous spells if it ended up inside of it.”

“What do you think, can that story be true?”

“Let’s pray that it’s just a silly story, because if it’s true Savannah just became the deadliest weapon known in existence of the supernatural world.”

“Did that story say specifics?”

“Zamyr, it was a bedtime story for kids, not some kind of scientific writing. Its only purpose was to help kids fall asleep, not to traumatize them for life.”

“Then we know where we should start. We need to find out the truth behind the story.”

“And where exactly do you want to start?”

“By visiting the Sacred Library.”

“Are you out of your damn mind? Apart from the Saints nobody else can see those books and writings.”

“Then we have to find a Saint who’s willing to help us for the greater good.”

“They won’t care about that. The knowledge from the Sacred Library cannot be known to outsiders. You need to become a Saint yourself to get access to the knowledge and safe to say none of us are qualified for that position.”

“Do you have a better idea?”

“Well no, but…”

“No buts. As far as I know it’s not a total secret. There’s a bedtime story. If I recall correctly, no new and sacred knowledge can be told to outsiders. This is not new; therefore not sacred. This is the loophole we need.”

“Will the Saints believe us though?”

“They’ll have to listen to us either way. There’s no need to conceal information that’s not a secret anymore.”

“Then let’s pay a visit to the Sacred Library tomorrow. Let me remind you if this won’t end well you’ll be the one to blame.”

“Fine, fine. If it doesn’t work out you can blame me all you want.”

Savannah’s POV

After my dream I’ve been tossing and turning until it was time to get out of bed. Before I could greet Dalia she attacked me with orders.

“I have a task for you. You need to go to the Sacred Library and ask the Saints about how to destroy the veil. The sooner you leave the better.”

“Good morning to you too. And why exactly cannot you go?”

“Because people with dark magic cannot enter the library.”

“Why haven’t I heard of this Sacred Library before?”

“You might’ve heard of it, but you lost your memories. This is a painting of the Sacred Library. You cannot open a portal directly inside, but you’ll find yourself in front of it. Ask the Saints about it and don’t leave until you find something useful.”

“Fine, I’ll leave after I eat something.”

After I ate and packed my bag I looked at the painting and opened a portal. I was surrounded by mountains on every side. The Sacred Library was inside a mountain. I tried to open the doors, but they were sealed shut.

“State your business!” - a voice said, successfully startling me.

“I’m here to ask some questions.” - I said while turning around, but I couldn’t see anyone.

“What a foolish creature. No knowledge can leave the Sacred Library. Leave now and do not come back ever again.”

“Please, I need the information.”

“I cannot decide whether you want to use the knowledge for good or bad. The Saints will see you now. Head inside and stand in the circle.”

With that the door opened. I did exactly as the voice instructed and suddenly I was surrounded by four men and four women wearing pure white robes. The circle around me flared, then it went back to the way it was.

“You lost your memories.” - one of the women stated.

“Yes, I did.”

“Before we proceed, can we take a look at your current knowledge?”

“Will it hurt?”

“Absolutely not.”

“Then sure.”

“You know spells nobody should know. Child, you are the most dangerous weapon in the history of the supernatural world. What do you wish to know?”

“Who I really am?”

“Your name is Savannah Rose Angelos, half angel, half witch, the future Queen of the supernatural world.”

“What? So, both of them were telling the truth.”

“Sorry, what was that?”

“It’s nothing, I was just thinking. Who’s been telling the truth, Dalia or Zamyr and Gabriel?”

“All three of them told you some truth, but only one side told you the truth and only the truth. The other side twisted it until it sounded like the truth. You have to decide who to listen to.”

“What did you mean by me being the most dangerous weapon?”

“You know spells no one should know. These were locked up in the veil separating the realms ever since it was created. When you teared through it, you became one with the veil and with all the objects locked away in it. You cannot use those spells for evil deeds or you will cause the end of the supernatural world.”

“Does anyone else know what I am capable of?”

“The total of 11 people for now.”

“Can the veil between the realms be destroyed?”

“Of course it can be. Nothing is permanent in this world except for birth and death.”

“How can it be destroyed and who can destroy it?”

“The only person capable of doing so is you. You know the spell that destroys it, you just have to figure out which one that is. You cannot destroy it until you destroy evil first.”

“Why are you telling me all this? At first I was told to leave.”

“Because we cannot afford you becoming our enemy. You could destroy galaxies if you want to. The artifacts inside the veil amplified your already huge power a thousandfold.”

“I have no intention of destroying you. Would you’ve told me all this if I’d been weaker?”

“I suppose I would not have told you anything except who you are. You are the first person to whom I revealed the sacred knowledge without giving us a clue that you already know something about it.”

“Thank you for your help.”

“I would say you are welcome, but I will not do so until I see that you used this knowledge for good.”

Before I could’ve said anything else the eight of them disappeared. I left the Sacred Library and opened a portal to Salem.

“You’re back already? Did they tell you anything?”

“Nothing we can use. They only said there’s a spell that can destroy it, but nobody can access it.”

“Where is it?”

“In one of the books that’s in the Sacred Library. They wouldn’t tell me anything else, because I would’ve needed to say something specific to obtain the full knowledge, not just snippets from it.”

“Ah, those darn Saints! I should’ve figured out that they wouldn’t tell you anything. Anyway, it was worth a try, but if I figure out that you lied to me that won’t end well for you.”

“Realx, Dalia, I’m not lying.”

She just grumbled something and left. Technically I didn’t lie, but I didn’t tell the truth either. I wouldn’t tell her anything until I figure out who's been twisting the truth for their favor. And if that person was Dalia, under no circumstances will I spare her.
