Chapter 35 A Fragment of Alpha Gerald and Doctor Moore's Past
"WHAT?? So she, sorry Alpha, you mean... Mrs. thinks I'm crazy for saying Alex is a werewolf? That's why she wants to move to another doctor and hospital?" Doctor Moore stood up slightly, surprised, repeating everything Alpha Gerald had said.
Gerald looked at him with a funny expression, “I know, you must want to laugh now, right? That’s exactly what I did! It seems... she doesn't realise that she's also a werewolf descendant just like me! Of course, our child is a werewolf descendant! Aish! You have to help me right away, Doctor Moore! Jenny's amnesia is beyond help! Soon it won't be her, or you, who's crazy! She'll think I'm crazy and... I could really go crazy facing her right now!"
CRASH!
An angry Gerald gently hit Dr. Moore's desk. Dr. Moore, who had been about to laugh, felt sorry for him and stood beside Alpha Gerald, patting his shoulder.
"I've known you for a long time, Alpha Gerald, since you were a baby... when my friend carried you... You cried so loudly that everyone around you fell silent, even the animals in the forest were frightened. At that moment, I knew you would become the strong Alpha you are today! Unfortunately, your father is no longer with us now! So I know you won’t give up and fall so easily! You must be strong, because you have to protect your wife and child no matter what!” Dr. Moore’s eyes welled up with tears, and he turned away to wipe them.
Gerald took his hand and patted it gently.
“Thank you. After my father’s passing… you’ve helped me so much, taking care of me all this time! My father is happy there… You don’t need to feel guilty, Doctor! You tried to help him! And now you’re helping me! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have survived the curse and the wounds I’ve endured all this time! Thank you for protecting me!” Gerald said sincerely.
Gerald lost his father when he was only 10 years old. His father died after being poisoned by his enemies and a witch, who then tried to kill him, but the witch, out of pity for Gerald, could only curse him instead.
Gerald would not live past the age of 35 unless he could find someone who could accept his condition and love him sincerely, and Gerald also loved her in union under the full moon, with the help of the Black Stone that had disappeared six years ago. Since then, since Gerald was a child, Doctor Moore had taken care of him, until now. Doctor Moore was considered his own father.
The stone was found six years ago, but then disappeared along with his wife. Jennifer had returned, but her memory of her love for Gerald had completely vanished! That was why, when they did it, Gerald still felt a little pain.
Gerald became serious again and looked at Doctor Moore, a question in his heart that confused him.
“Dr. Moore… hm… there’s something I want to ask about the curse!” Gerald said hesitantly.
"Well, what do you want to ask?" Dr. Moore asked again.
"I-it's... why, after doing it, why does my chest still hurt? Even though I did it with Jenny! We love each other, don't we? But there's still no change at all? I still feel pain in my chest! I even fainted! Is... something wrong?" Gerald asked curiously.
Dr. Moore was slightly surprised but smiled, ‘I know no one can resist a man as handsome as Gerald. Even over the past six years, Gerald has been chased by many women… especially… Valery! But Gerald chose to remain faithful and wait for his wife to be found. Rather than be with another woman!’
“So you couldn’t wait even a moment after meeting your wife, could you? You’re hopeless! You’ve dirtied my hospital!” Dr Moore pretended to be angry.
Gerald could only smile awkwardly, "I-I missed her so much, Doctor! It's her fault for upsetting me by mentioning another man's name! It made me angry! Not to mention... her body was so tempting! Ah, never mind, the point is, why do I still feel pain? Although not as severe as before. What's really going on?"
Dr Moore sat back down, thinking about something.
"It seems... It's not that there's no change, but rather... It's one of the changes, only it's not perfect yet! If my guess is correct, it's because Jennifer hasn't remembered you and doesn't truly love you yet! You have to restore her memory and remind her of your love! One more thing! Find that black stone quickly! Your existing wounds plus the battle wounds from before... I'm worried it will worsen your condition!" Dr. Moore looked sadly at Gerald.
"I'm sorry. If only I had come sooner... Maybe I could have saved you from that curse. And six years ago, if it weren't for my wife being ill, I might have been able to return to this country sooner! I'm sorry... I couldn't protect you properly!"
Dr. Moore hung his head in regret, having failed to save Gerald twice.
"Well, as I said, Dad! I never blamed you! And this isn't your fault! You've done your best to help me all this time, and I'm very grateful!" Gerald said softly.
Dr. Moore looked up, surprised.
"What did you just call me? Dad? Oh, Gerald! I haven't heard that in a long time, son!" Dr. Moore hugged him warmly and patted his back gently.
"I'm sorry, Dad! I didn't want to make things difficult for you if others found out that you were my adoptive father, then... they would hunt you down! I know my enemies are still out there! Especially that bastard Dixon! He never stops looking for my weaknesses! I don't want them to use it or hurt you because of me! So I..." Gerald bowed his head again.
Dr Moore released his embrace, "You've sacrificed so much all this time! His life isn't really happy! I know he compromises a lot for the sake of protecting the people around him! Now, on top of that, his wife has lost her memory and his son was almost hurt! Gerald is really pitiful! Behind his cold and sometimes scary appearance, he actually has a soft and loving heart! But not many people know that except for those around him!'
"I know... You did it for my sake, so that I could continue working without being disturbed by anyone! It's okay, son! But I hope you will be happy too!" said Doctor Moore softly.
Gerald smiled wryly, "I don't know if I can really be happy, Dad! I thought that after finding Jenny, there was a glimmer of hope that I would be happy with my little family! But... you know the situation! She doesn't even remember me! Can you imagine, she even thinks I'm just Alex's biological father? What is insemination? You know we did it because we liked each other, and after the marriage, I mean the arranged marriage that I am grateful for because I found my true love in her, even though at the beginning of our marriage... There were many misunderstandings. But insemination? What is that! If it weren't for her memory loss, I wouldn't have gone along with her idea! Who even gave her that idea?"
Gerald vented his frustration, and Dr. Moore could only laugh.
“Patience… it seems we have to restore his memory slowly!” Dr. Moore looked serious again.
“How?” Gerald pulled his chair closer to Dr. Moore.
“The way…”
