Chapter 25 Are You Accusing Me??
Captain Bryan took a breath and exhaled slowly before repeating his question.
"I said... I want to visit Alex. Can I go in now?" Captain Bryan asked with a mocking smile.
"Ah, yes... of course you can! But not with that bouquet! You just want to visit Alex, right? Alex doesn't like flowers! And only for 5 minutes! No more! I haven't settled the score with you yet, Captain Smith, regarding the incident at your house that sent Alex to the hospital!" Gerald exclaimed firmly, his gaze sharp once more.
Captain Smith was about to argue again, but then Gerald spoke again.
"Now, are you coming in or not? Don't make me change my mind!" Gerald said casually.
Gerald ordered his guards to move aside and make way for Captain Bryan.
Captain Bryan entered with a terrifying glare.
'Those eyes... is he?' Gerald paused when they locked eyes, causing him to lose focus for a moment.
At that moment, Jennifer broke free from Gerald's embrace and growled, "You! That's outrageous!"
Jennifer followed Captain Bryan inside.
Gerald followed behind Jennifer.
From the corner of the room near the exit, Gerald watched Captain Bryan and Jennifer interact.
"Jennifer, this is for you!" Captain Bryan exclaimed, handing her the basket of fruit.
Jennifer took the fruit basket and placed it on the table to the left of Alex.
"Is he really okay, Jennifer?" asked Captain Bryan, and when he was about to touch Alex's hand, Gerald touched Alex's hand first and gently patted his son's hand, which was not hooked up to an IV.
"Of course he's okay! Because he's my son!" Gerald said again.
"Your son? Jennifer, is what he said true?" Captain Bryan looked confused but not surprised.
Jennifer was about to answer, but was interrupted again by Gerald.
"Why? Don't you believe me? Do you want me to show you the DNA test results?" Gerald asked, looking annoyed.
Captain Bryan was nervous for a moment, but strangely, he didn't seem surprised. Unlike Jennifer, who looked the opposite.
'Is Alex really his son? When did he do the DNA test? Was it yesterday? Why didn't I know? Ah, of course! He owns this hospital! He can do anything! But wait a minute, that means... he could even manipulate the results, couldn't he?'
Jennifer's mind kept thinking about the reality of the situation.
When she heard Captain Bryan speak, she looked up, "Ah, it's not like that, but earlier Jennifer said she didn't know you, right? So where did the test results come from? Was there a mistake?"
Jennifer nodded and waited for Gerald's answer.
‘Damn! This man is deliberately taking advantage of Jennifer's amnesia! Even though he didn't seem surprised when I said Alex was my pup! His reaction should have been the same as Jennifer's, who didn't believe me! I had to lie this time! If it can help Jennifer regain her memory, then I have to make her feel comfortable and safe around me!’
“Ahem! I'm his biological father! A few years ago, I stored my sperm because I lost my wife. I had to have an heir, didn't I? She was eventually... found... dead! I mean my wife! I don't know if the hospital made a mistake and swapped my sperm with someone else's!" Gerald looked sad.
Jennifer covered her mouth, “So you’re right, Alex’s father? No wonder… You two look alike!”
Gerald then pretended to wipe away his tears and approached Jennifer, hugging her sadly. "That's why I asked you not to leave me! You are my only family now! I'm sorry for lying to you, and for finding you so late! You must have had a difficult time at the beginning of your pregnancy, right?"
Jennifer was a little awkward because Captain Bryan was there, so she just patted Gerald on the head and spoke softly, "That was so long ago, I don't even remember it! Hehehe..."
Captain Bryan, whom Gerald was staring at mockingly, looked like he was about to explode, 'Damn! He's so good at acting! If this is the case, it'll be difficult for me to get close to Jennifer!'
Gerald then pulled his head away from Jennifer's chest and hugged her waist again.
"But I see, it seems... Captain Gerald isn't surprised by the fact that Alex is my son?" Gerald stared intently at Captain Gerald again.
Captain Gerald was almost surprised, but his face calmed down again as he smiled at Gerald.
"Hmm... as Jennifer said earlier, I was suspicious because... You two have a lot of similarities!" said Captain Bryan with a smile.
'Damn! He's not stupid! He's cunning! He deliberately turned the situation around by using Jennifer's words! I'm sure he knows something! It seems like he's hiding something! But what? And why? I can't trust him!'
Gerald was lost in thought. Gerald's sharp instincts sensed that Captain Bryan was hiding something, but Gerald didn't know what it was yet.
"Oh yes, Jennifer's, I've been investigating something about the attack on my house and the attack on your apartment. Although it's still uncertain, I have to tell you this fact!" said Captain Bryan again with a serious look.
"Really? What did you find?" Jennifer seemed to want to move closer to Captain Bryan, but was held back by Gerald. Jennifer looked back at the man beside her with annoyance.
"Are your ears deaf? You can still hear him from here, can't you?" Gerald glared at her.
"Ugh! You!"
"It's okay, Jennifer, you can listen from there. So after I compared the two, it seems there are similarities and the same tracks as those that attacked my house! Wait a moment, I'll bring the file!" Bryan took something out of his bag, his backpack to be exact.
Bryan then opened a piece of paper, "Look, the tracks are the same, aren't they?"
It wasn't Jennifer who approached, but Gerald who approached curiously.
'I thought so... Wolf tracks! But who are they? These tracks and marks are similar...'
Gerald frowned. Bryan looked at him suspiciously.
"Do you recognise them, Mr Williams?" Bryan seemed to point at Gerald with a smirk.
Jennifer turned to Gerald. Gerald looked back at Jennifer and Captain Bryan.
"Why are you looking at me? How would I know who attacked you? Are you accusing me of hurting my own child? Are you crazy? And you, Captain Smith, I could have you thrown in jail for making accusations without evidence!" Gerald said angrily again.
"Sorry, Mr Williams, that's not what I meant! I'm not accusing you, but the next fact will really surprise you, Jennifer!" Captain Bryan said again.
"What do you mean, Captain Bryan?" Jennifer looked confused.
"May I reveal it here, Mr Williams?" Captain Bryan asked cautiously, but his lips curled into a victorious smile.
'It wasn't in vain that I spent all day until dawn looking for facts related to the attack on my house! Gotcha, honourable Alpha Gerald Williams!
Jennifer looked at Captain Bryan and Gerald alternately.
"Why are you asking my permission? I'm not hiding anything! Just say it, Captain Bryan! Don't beat around the bush!" Gerald began to get angry because Bryan seemed to be accusing him in front of Jennifer.
"All right... So after I checked... Martha, the maid at my house, and my gardener were your henchmen, weren't they, Mr Williams? And they disappeared... the day after the attack! So I suspect... that the mastermind behind all the attacks, both at my apartment and my house, is connected to them!" Captain Bryan paused for a moment, observing Gerald's reaction wit
h an unusual look.
""WHAT??? ARE YOU CRAZY?? YOU'RE ACCUSING ME OF BEING THE MASTERMIND BEHIND ALL THIS??"
