Chapter 40

After a very restless night, I couldn't shut my brain off from thinking about everything that Jessie said, & knowing that I was going to be meeting with Shane's mother and that witch in the morning. Jessie didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know, so I am hoping that I get more information out of this witch. I turned and looked over at Shane. He was peacefully sleeping. I know that just the phone call to his mother was not something he wanted to do, and it stressed him out deeply.

I can only imagine what he is going to go through when his mother gets here. I reach for my phone and it is 5:30.So the sun is just starting to come up. I gently got up off of the bed and made my way into the bathroom. I wanted to give myself enough time to get ready. I don't know what I am going to wear. I mean I am going to be meeting this man's mother. I want to make sure that I don't give her a reason to hate me, I mean she probably already does because I am with her son. But I want to make sure there is nothing she can have against me. After stepping into the shower I let the hot water run down my back. All of a sudden I heard that bathroom door open.

"Hey babe" Shane greeted me.

"Hey"

"Why didn't you wake me?" He asked sounding tired.

"I know today is going to be a stressful day for you and I wanted to let you sleep," I said

"I wanted to shower with you" He responded sounding so cute...

"No, why don't you go and get us some coffee... I needed a bit of alone time." I said trying not to sound mean but I did need time to myself.

"Oh.." He sounded so disappointed.

"It has nothing to do with you... I just need to process some things, plus I know that today is going to have a ton of questions and answers as well. "

"Yeah…"

"Plus I want to make sure I make the best impression on you Mom."

" Listen like I said, please know that my mother is not all that she seems. She is not the best at emotions and for as long as I can remember she hasn't always been the nicest. "

"I will"

Shane used the bathroom and then went back out to the room. I stayed in the shower only a few minutes more and then got out. I knew that Shane wanted to get in, so I wanted to make sure he had time to shower and do what he needed to do. Upon entering the room I saw that he had coffee and a light breakfast waiting for me on the nightstand.

"Your coffee is right here my love. I am going to go and shower now."

"Alright and thank you. Did you eat?" I asked wanting to make sure he did.

"Yes, I ate while you were in the shower."

"Good I am glad you ate."

Shane smiled and headed to the bathroom. I drank my coffee while sitting in my towel. What is the cause of his mother's behavior? What if she disrespects me? What will this witch have to say? What will this witch want as payment? I couldn't stop these thoughts. After I finished my coffee and toast I got up and went into the closet and got dressed. I decided to put on an outfit that I was comfortable in. I know that I am the Luna of this pack, but I am me. And I am not going to change myself for anyone. Not even his mother. Shane loves me for me. That is all that matters. As I was getting dressed Shane came into the closet to also get dressed wearing nothing but his towel. When he removed it to get his boxers on I gave his ass a little smack and walked out. I finished up by brushing my hair and teeth. Once we were both ready we headed downstairs. I knew that we were going to have to face Claudia and Jessie once more. I am just glad that we ate by ourselves. I don't trust either one of them one bit. When we got to the table my suspicions were right. Shane and I both had plates waiting for us.

"Took you guys long enough to come down... What took you so long.." Jessie said as my stomach turned.

He said wiggling his eyebrows indicating that we were doing sexual things.

"We made you both plates to make sure you did miss out on any of the good food…" Claudia stated.

She was smiling at us...

"Thank you, but unfortunately Luna and I just ate," Shane stated.

Claudia’s face dropped hearing him call me that.

"However we will sit with you and have some coffee.." I said trying to please them.

"Alright let me go and get you both a cup." Jessie offered.

"No need bro... Got them myself earlier." Shane responded.

Now Shane had the same kind of ‘what the fuck’ look on his face that Claudia did. We took our seats and held small talk with some of the other pack members. Once the majority of the pack members finished with their food and left Shane spoke to Jessie again.

"I hate to cut this short Jess, but we have a very important meeting that we need to get to."

"No worry alpha... I completely understand." Jessie sounded so fake.

"When will you be back?"

"Be back?"

"Yes with the information that Luna and I asked you for.."

"Ah yes, that's right. Well, I can give you a call when I have any information letting you know I would be coming the next day."

"Great that works. What time are you leaving today?"

"Most likely right after you two head off."

"We can wait if you would like.."

"No that is alright. I know where the door is and I don't want to hold you guys up."

"Sounds good. We will talk to you soon."

"Yup!"

We all exchanged our goodbyes and then Shane and I headed to his office to wait on his mother and that witch.

"Are you nervous?" Shane asked me.

"A little bit. Are you?"

"Yeah, it has been a while since I have seen her."

"Can I ask you something"

"Anything"

"Where is your dad?"

"He lives with my mother."

"Have you spoken to him?"

"I have but it is hard. My mother and I not having a great relationship causes issues between her and my father when he and I speak"

"Why is that.."

"I am not sure. She and I used to have a great relationship but after that summer with my uncle something happened and it was almost like she hated me."

Shane's office phone rang shortly after we sat down. He picked it up after the 2nd ring.

"Yes?" He answered.

There was a brief pause

"Thank you, Beta. We will be right there."

Once Shane hung the phone up he looked at me and smiled.

"Alright, Jessie is finally gone, however, my mother and her guest are here. Let's go down to greet them."

I just nodded. This was what I had been nervous about since yesterday. As we headed down the stairs we stood in the foyer while Shanes Beta stood at the front door ready to open it. Shane gave him a nod and he opened the door.

"Hello Luna Carolina, it is an honor to see you again." Shane's Beta greeted his mother.

She just waved her hand at him like she didn't give two shits about anything he just said to her. She didn't even acknowledge him. I can see what Shane was telling me about.

"Shane." She said to him.

"Mother, this is my mate and Luna Sierra."

"She's the one that needs help?" She asked

"Yes"

"Figures… Look at her.."

She said as she was talking to the witch. The witch in return looked me up and down.

"Mother!" He shouted.

"What?"

Shane's grip on my hand tightened very slightly and I could tell that he was getting very pissed at his mother. He put his head down and started to take a few deep breaths, then when he picked his head up his eyes were dark.

"Mother, I will only ask you kindly one time to not speak to my mate and Luna like that. This is not your pack, it is mine and I will not tolerate any disrespect. If you don't feel that you can do that, you can turn the fuck back around and leave! "

I was in complete shock… He swore at his mother. Even the witch that she brought with her was in shock. Her mouth hit the floor faster than a pig jumping in mud.

"Who the…" His mother tried to say.

"MOTHER I AM WARNING YOU TO STOP WHILE YOU ARE AHEAD!"

Shane's mother instantly shuts her mouth.

"Let's go to your office and get this over with, Goddess only knows what this meet Luna is in trouble for.." She just couldn't stop.

Shane spun me around so fast I almost got whiplash, as we moved back towards his office. Carolina followed us and the witch followed her. We walked rather quickly. I knew by Shane's actions that he just wanted to get this over with. When everyone got into the office including Shanes Beta he slammed the door shut causing everyone to turn and look at him.

"I have something I need to say… for the last time."

Everyone remained quiet waiting to hear what he was going to say.

"Mother I know you don't want to be here, it is beyond clear and when I called it was not to invite you here. Believe me, I don't want you here as much as you don't want to be here. But you chose to come. So with that being said, you can either leave the witch here so we can get down to business and you can go the hell back from where you came. OR you can sit the fuck down and keep your mouth shut for the rest of the time."

Carolina tried to open her mouth to speak but Shane just cut her off again.

"I don't allow any one from my pack to speak against Sierra, and I will be damned if I allow you to do it. Again this is our pack, not yours… your pack got burned down remember??? You have no say or authority here. The only thing I ask is that you respect it. Or leave."

Carolina didn't say another word. She lowered her head and looked at her hands.

"Good, let's get down to the reason why you both are here."

"Let me introduce myself alpha. My name is Hilda, I am a witch as you know. Your mother called me and said that there might be something that I can help you and Luna with Alpha."

"Yes, allow me to give Luna the floor so that she can explain." He said giving me the floor.

I feel a little weird like something is happening that I can't see. My insides starting to heat up and my head is starting to get heavy. Shane turned to me and smiled…

"Go ahead babe, tell her what you want to know"

I took a deep breath and Hilda came over to me and took my hands in hers. She locked eyes with me and smiled then shut her eyes. I smiled back at her and then when she closed her eyes I looked back at Shane a bit worried as to what she was doing. Shane's brows furrowed and then Hilda gasped and her head shot back up, locking eyes with me once more.
