Chapter 68 The Underworld.
Midnights pov.
“I’m sorry!” I say again, unable to meet Jason’s eyes.
“It’s okay, as I said already. I don’t blame you,” he says softly, placing a finger under my chin and lifting my head to meet his eyes.
“I- I didn’t know… how bad he was,” I stuttered, “he told me- he told me that he was the only person who would ever love me- who would care about me. He wouldn’t let me come to you, and he told me you’d never love somebody like me anyways,” I mumble the last part, wiping some tears that have forced their way out of my eyes.
“Midnight…” Jason says softly, “I don’t blame you, for anything. You’re my mate, we’re better together… I won’t let you go.”
Looking into his eyes I see the raw truth, he means every word he says.
“I’m just- me. There’s nothing special… I would understand if you rejected me-,” I start to say before Jason silences me with a needy kiss.
He grips my hips tightly, pulling me impossibly close to him. His scent wafts into my nose making me feel light headed and loopy.
I respond back with my own passion, never having kissed someone before. I grip Jason’s shirt with my fingers, biting on his lower lip gently.
Jason moans into my mouth allowing me to shove my tongue inside. We get lost in our own little world for what feels like forever until we both pull away gasping for air.
“That was-“ I say, trying to find the words.
“Amazing,” Jason says breathlessly, finishing my sentence.
I giggle slightly, feeling my cheeks heat up, “that was my first time, I’ve never kissed someone before,” I whisper while staring into Jason’s eyes.
“Really?” He asks with a sly smirk, “there’s many more firsts for us.”
He winks at me, making my face heat up even more.
I slap his arm and mutter a few curse words, “I have an idea,” I say suddenly.
“What is it?” Jason asks while looking me up and down.
“Stop it!” I say, slapping his arm again, “I want to take you to the underworld with me.”
“What!” Jason basically yells, “there’s no way,” he starts to say but I cut him off.
“Okay, do you really think I would want to go back there if it wasn’t important? I have a few things I left behind and I have a feeling Lily's father is hiding there, we can look without being caught. My powers will keep up hidden,” I tell him, thinking about the only things I have left from my parents.
“That’s- that’s actually a really good idea!” He stutters, “let me speak to Creed before we go.”
“Of course, take the time you need. I will prepare myself,” I whisper, thinking about what I will do when I get back there.
I was meditating when Jason walked back into the room I’ll be staying in, “did you talk to him?” I ask without opening my eyes.
“Yeah,” he replies, sounding like he’s far away in his mind, “let’s do this.”
“Come sit beside me,” I tell him, patting the space beside me.
I hear his footsteps until he’s sitting down beside me, “how do we do this?”
“Simple. You hold onto my hand and do not let go, if you do your cover will be blown. Nobody can see us as long as we keep physical contact, we’ll go in and out. If we don’t see Lily's father I don’t want to search around, it’s too risky. I- I don’t know if I’ll be able to get us out if we’re caught,” I whisper the last part, not able to think about the consequences we could face.
Jason places a hand gently onto my cheek, caressing it with his thumb, “I can feel the emotions radiating off of you, take a breath. Everything will be alright, I’ll be with you,” he whispers softly into my ear.
I take one look at him and smile, “let’s do this…”
Reaching for my magic I easily control it, it feels so natural, so right. I smile to myself faintly reminiscing in the feeling of it before I’ll never do this again.
We’re sucked into my portal and spit out onto the other side, I land gracefully while Jason falls only his ass, looking like he might throw up.
“Take my hand and don’t let go, we need to get this over with, if we’re here too long he'll sense us,” I whisper, gripping his hand in mine.
I transform us into my shadows, blending into the darkness. I hear Jason gasp slightly but decide to ignore him.
I can worry about that later, for now all I really want is my necklace. The last thing from my mother… who died so unexpectedly…
Getting rid of those thoughts I shove them into the darkest parts of my mind and focus on the task at hand, if we could find Lily's father we could kill two birds with one stone.
I know Jason is eager to earn back Creed’s trust and respect, and as my mate I will do anything in my power to help me, especially if it makes him happy.
As we get outside of Hades castle I see he has hundreds of guards outside. Good thing I can fase through walls.
Going through the walls into the basement I got straight to my tiny room, as I went through the door I saw all of my stuff is still here.
One pair of ripped jeans and an old sweater, two books and a blanket with one tiny pillow.
I let go of Jason’s hand and lunge towards the pillow, I pick it up and throw it away, desperately looking for my necklace
“What are you looking for?” Jason asks curiously.
As I’m about to answer I finally find it and grip it in my hands tightly, “my mother necklace,” I whisper, smiling to myself and placing it around my neck, “let’s go check out what Hades is doing before we leave.”
Jason nods his head at me and I take his hand again, transforming back into my shadow form and floating to the top floor of his castle.
