Chapter 66 Disrespect.
Lily’s pov.
“So, what’s up between you and Creed?” Raya asks suddenly, watching the road in front of us.
I roll my eyes, “nothing, he just acted weird this morning,” I mumble, feeling angry about it still.
“How did he act weird?” She asks with an eyebrow raised.
“He had a nightmare or something…. I tried to ask him about it and he pushed me aside and practically ran out of our room!” I huff, pouting.
“What! Seriously?” She says surprised.
“Seriously,” I grumble out, looking out the window at the scenery around us.
“I’m sorry, Lily. That’s so strange, I don’t understand why he would’ve acted that way. What do you think happened in his dream?” She asks with a frown on her face.
“I don’t know,” I whisper, “something bad.”
We drive for a little while longer, almost in the human town.
We decided to go to the human mall, they have so much more options to choose from.
But we'll have to shop for the babies in our tribe as human babies need different things, our babies will be much stronger and need stronger built toys and more durable clothing.
“Have you decided what you’re shopping for today?” Raya says, breaking the silence.
“Lots of maternity clothes,” I say instantly, making us burst out laughing.
“Yes, I will be too. Something tells me I will be needing them. I’m almost out of clothes that fit me,” she whines, making me chuckle slightly because I am already too big for my clothes.
“Tell me about it,” I say, rolling my eyes, “I already don’t fit into anything I have. I don’t even know what to get the babies, four babies. I don’t even know how to take care of one- I don’t know what to do for four,” I say, thinking about how hard it’s going to be taking care of four babies at once.
“Hey,” raya sighs, placing a hand on my arm, “we can do this. We’ll have each other, no matter what I’ll always be there to help you. Anyway I can, we can raise them all together, we don’t need to worry about it. If you ever needed a break I’d take them, all of them,” she laughs at the last part, making me chuckle slightly too.
“Thanks… that means a lot. I’ll always be there to help you too. No matter how that looks, I just say the word,” I say with a smile, genuinely excited for this new chapter in our lives.
“Well, we are here!” Raya says excitedly, parking the suv and shutting the engine off.
‘Keep your eyes open in there, Lily. Something doesn’t feel right here,’ Sapphire whispers, making the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
“I don’t know about you, but Sapphires on edge,” I say as I look around.
“Olivia’s a little frazzled right now too… maybe- maybe we should leave,” Raya whispers unsure, moving her hand towards the ignition.
“Wait!” I say, “look,” I point behind us noticing One of Creed’s warriors watching us, thinking we haven’t noticed yet.
“Wow!” Raya says unimpressed, “he actually disobeyed you!”
Rolling my eyes I take my seatbelt off to give the warrior instructions to go home, “what a beta,” I mutter, stepping out of the car.
“Hey!” I yell out at the warrior, his head whips in the opposite direction and he acts as if he doesn’t notice me, “you! Come here, I command you!” I whisper the last part harshly.
The warrior turns towards me with a nasty frown on his face, “you command me?” He spits out angrily, “you can’t command shit. You don’t even deserve to be Queen. Do you think anyone will listen or take you seriously? Look at you!” He laughs, mocking me, “I’m only here because my King and Beta ordered me too. If it was up to me I wouldn’t be here. I have better things to do than follow the clueless Queen around.”
“Are you kidding me?” I say quietly, “you dare talk to me that way? I am your queen, whether you like it or not I am Creed’s mate, you better watch your tongue and show me some respect before I cut it off!”
His eyes widen slightly before he masks his emotion with indifference, “I don’t care who you are, just because you think you can be the Queen doesn’t mean you actually can. Now get what you came for so I can go home,” he says through gritted teeth.
Without a word I turn around and walk back towards Creed’s suv, blood boiling under my skin.
I get into the suv and slam the door closed, trying to calm my erratic heartbeat.
“What happened?” Raya asks with a sigh.
“Nothing important. Let’s just go get what we came for and get the hell out of here,” I mutter softly.
“Yeah- okay, let’s go. We’ll be quick,” she says with a reassuring smile, squeezing my hand gently.
I return the smile but it doesn’t quite reach my eyes, instead it shows the uncertainty that I'm feeling.
As we walked into the mall I felt the warrior's eyes on us the whole time, every store we went into, every time we stopped for food or a drink, even when we thought we lost him he was still right there, watching.
“Goddess, this guy. Just ignore him, we’re almost done anyways,” Raya whispers in my ear.
“Yeah…” I said absentmindedly, “just ignore him.”
As we’re about to exit the mall I see a baby store called ‘baby bunny fun toys and thing’, “can we just take a peak?” I ask, “I really just want to see what they have…”
“Fine!” Raya huffs, “but you know we need to buy the babies things at the tribe, it’ll be a waste spending any money here.”
“Yeah, yeah. Don’t kill my vibe right now,” I roll my eyes and walk into the baby store, my arms full of my own stuff.
As I’m scanning through the baby clothes, the hair on the back of my neck stands up, making me whip my head around and I see a dark figure with a hood covering their face standing in the crowd, watching us.
“Hey!” I yell as I drop my things and run after them.
