Chapter 65 War Is Coming.
Creed’s pov.
“I can’t get the dream out of my fucking head!” I shout, feeling extremely frustrated.
Glenda sighs for the fifth time now, everytime she asks me about it I tell her the same thing, the forest was burnt, the ground was littered in bodies and blood and a figure whispers that we would all die.
“What does it mean?” I mutter, sitting down at my desk feeling defeated.
I still feel like such an asshole after walking out of our room like that on Lily. The look on her face still makes my heart clench in my chest.
“It could mean many things…” Glenda says thoughtfully, “it could be a vision, something that could happen in the future. Or it could be your mind playing tricks on you. It is up to you and your dragon to figure it out.”
“Great!” I say angrily, “I’m nowhere closer to figuring this out!”
“I think I will leave you to your thoughts, it’s important that you focus on what you saw… speak to your dragon, let him guide you,” she says before leaving my office.
‘Ryan,’ I say down our link, ‘come to my office please.’
‘I’ll be there right away,’ he responds instantly.
It didn’t take long for Ryan to get here and when he did his eyes widened at my disheveled appearance.
“What’s wrong with you?” He asks cautiously.
I chuckle and run my hands through my hair, “is it that obvious?”
Ryan winces and nods his head, “you look all gloomy, and Lily seemed pissed too. Did you guys fight or something?” He asks.
“She did?” I groan, feeling like a piece of shit.
He nods his head, “yeah… she didn’t say much. Wouldn’t even let me send a guard with them,” he says. I go to say something but he cuts me off, “don’t worry, I have a guard trailing them, they won’t be alone.”
“Good,” I whisper, “we didn’t fight but I was an asshole. I had a vision, a nightmare. Something horrible happened and it felt so real- I freaked out and basically ran out the door this morning…”
“Are you serious?” He says in disbelief, “you basically ran out the door? On your pregnant mate? Are you kidding me?”
I wince as his voice gets louder, “you’re my king always Creed but she’s my Queen too, and I won’t allow her to be treated that way.”
“I respect that. I’d never want anyone to allow any bad treatment to happen to my mate, not even from me. I’ll make it up to her, I swear,” I say, feeling even more respect and pride towards my best friend.
He nods his head and sits down in the chair across from me, “so what’s the vision about? Does Hunter agree it’s a vision?” He says, getting ready for business.
‘It’s a vision from the goddess, she’s trying to prepare us. War is coming,’ Hunter growls in my mind.
“War is coming,” I say angrily, repeating what my dragon said.
“What do you mean?” Ryan asks with a concerned look on his face.
“Hunter said it was a vision from the goddess. That war is coming,” I say while getting up from my chair, “we must get prepared, ready the warriors, get anyone who can fight into training. I am going out on my own to look for Danny Further. If he is a part of this he has to be stopped now.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to go out on your own, let’s train the warriors together and go out when we are done, I will come with you. It’s safer that way,” he says, trying to convince me.
“Fine,” I mutter, “but I’m only doing it for Lily.”
Ryan chuckles and puts his hands up in mock surrender, “fine, fine. Let’s go.”
Ryan and I make our way outside to the training grounds, there’s a few warriors here doing their daily training but I want everyone here.
‘Every single person who is able to train, come down to the training grounds immediately,’ I say down the tribe link to every shifter who lives here.
I hear answers of yes and I’ll be there as soon as possible, but there were a few elderly people and parents who spoke up about their children being too young.
‘War is coming, I don’t care if you’re young or old, if you can fight and train come here immediately. If you’re under the age of fifteen stay home, if you have been injured previously or are too old to fight stay home. This doesn’t apply to you,’ I mutter, getting frustrated.
I walked up to the group of warriors training and as soon as they sensed their kings presence they all stopped what they were doing and turned to pay attention to me.
“Warriors,” I speak out, “war is coming, we must prepare. Everyone is heading here, I’m sure you all heard the mindlink.”
I hear murmurs ripple around the group and I silence them, “enough! I know you’re scared, you have families and loved ones but that’s why we will train. We won’t be unprepared, we will need to train harder than ever before. I will have you ready. You’ll be fighting Ryan and I today. Get ready for us.”
A younger warrior around my age steps out ready to speak, “we have to fight you? How do you expect us to beat you? You’re the strongest drawer shifter, that’s impossible,” he mutters, looking frustrated.
“It’s not about beating me, it’s about fighting a strong opponent, to better your skills. I don’t expect you to beat me but I expect you to adapt to my skills and be able to move away from a shot. Ethan, you’ll be first,” I say to him, getting into the fighting ring and putting my fists up.
Ethan looks unsure but gets into the ring slowly, “let’s do this!” I say, edging him on. Trying to get him to come at me.
Without thinking Ethan comes at me, throwing a fist towards my face but I easily dodge it, sending my own fist at his face and colliding with it, causing him to fall to the ground.
“Get up!" I spit out, refusing to accept this is the skill of my warrior.
Spitting the blood that pooled in his mouth, Ethan gets back up.
Circling me trying to figure out his next move, I see him eyeing my left side and without warning I swing my leg at him, taking his knee out.
“Argghh!” He groans out in pain and he toppled to the ground.
“You call yourself a warrior?” I say with venom, “you can do better than that!”
Growling Ethan’s eyes flash bright green before he runs at me with insane speed.
