Chapter 260 Siblings
Dakota's P.O.V.
"Can we talk?" I ask Galdino. He nods and opens the door. Valentina looks up from the couch, and her smile falls when she sees us.
"Did something happen?" She asks worriedly as Ari and I sit on the couch across from her and Galdino. I tell them what Aubrey said, and Galdino's face turns white.
"You don't think I had anything to do with my father's death, do you?" he asks.
"No, of course not. Did Santino ever say anything about having another child?" I ask him. He doesn't need to know that when I first heard what Aubrey said, I thought she was talking about him until I got my senses back.
"Whoever it is has to be lying, or their mother never told my dad that he got her pregnant. When my mom left me with him, he thought I was his only child. If he had known he had another one, he would have wanted to be part of their lives. Why would they want to kill him if he didn't know about them?" Valentina takes Galdino's hand and looks at me.
"Do you have any idea of who it could be?" she asks.
"No, but we'll find out. How well do you know Edward Channing?" I ask Galdino.
"I've never trusted him. He's always been too busy trying to find out as much about the families as possible so he could worm his way into one. Everyone knew he used Aubrey to spy for him, so they would sleep with her and kick her out without giving her any information. I don't know anyone who would do business with him unless he had dirt on them. Whoever this person claiming to be my brother or sister is has to be using Edward with the promise of a way into our family." I understand what Galdino is saying, even though he didn't say it out loud. Aubrey was using Ari just like she did everyone else, and it didn't get Edward into the Buccheri family as he had hoped. Now he thinks he has a chance with whoever is claiming to be Santino's child.
"I'm glad Aubrey is here and out from under Edward. You don't think she is still helping him, do you?" I ask Ari and Galdino.
"I wasn't sure it was a good idea to bring her here in the beginning, but after a few days of being around her, I have seen a total transformation. Aubrey seems more relaxed and doesn't act like she's working an angle like she usually does. Dakota, I think you're the first person who treated her like a person, not an object," Galdino says. I smile and nod. She's a good person; she just needed someone to give her a chance to be herself.
"I agree. Now, we need to figure out who this person is and why they're coming forward. Why wait all these years to make themselves known?" I ask as I start pacing. Sometimes, I think better when I'm on my feet. As I walk back and forth, I hear voices outside, and when I hear laughter, I freeze. It's the same laughter I heard in my dream, and it's been staring me in the face this whole time. I look out the window, and everything becomes clear.
"I know who your sibling is, Galdino, and I let them right in the front door."
