Chapter 204 Setup
Dakota's P.O.V.
Okay, let me go outside first. I text her to see what her response will be.
No. Do it now. In case you haven't figured it out, this is a suicide mission. The only way for it to work is for you to kill yourself with the rest of them. Damn, she's such a bitch.
"She wants Lydia to set off the explosive now and to stay inside so she's killed as well. I think I'm going to play her a little like Lydia is having second thoughts, to see what she does. Xavier, have a couple of men get into one of the cars in case she drives off. I want them to follow her." He radios the men while I send another text.
I don't want to die. You're my mom. Don't you care for me at all?
Why should I? You can't even do this right. Now blow the fucking house up, or I'll do it myself.
I don't know. Maybe I don't want to do it now. They have been so nice to me. What if I change my mind? This should make her mad. I can almost see Myra screaming at the phone.
DO IT NOW! IT'S NOT A CHOICE. IF YOU DON'T, I WILL GUT YOU LIKE A FUCKING PIG! I smile as I type my next text.
I think I'll tell Dakota and Ari everything. There's been no response for several minutes.
"Are they still out there?" I ask Xavier. He radios the men.
"Yes, but they can't see how many people are in the car because of the tinted windows," he says.
Mom, are you still there? I'm hoping this will piss her off.
Don't call me that, you little brat. If you don't want to do it, come to the car across the street, and I'll do it myself. Does she really think Lydia would be that stupid?
I don't know. You said you wanted to kill me. How do I know you won't try something? Myra has been playing along with this for too long. She has to be up to something.
"Spread out through the house and look out the windows to see if you see anyone sneaking up to the house. I don't trust her." The others jump up and run through the house.
I promise I won't do anything. Just come to the car, and everything will be fine. I walk over and look out the front door. I can see the back of the black sedan, but nothing else.
"Has there been any movement from the car?" I ask Xavier.
"No, there has been nothing since it parked." I pull my knife out of the sheath I have strapped to my thigh.
"I'm going to her car to confront her. I'm tired of playing this game." I open the door, and Xavier, Ari, Galdino, and Benny join me. We walk to the car, and the four men point their guns at the driver's side window.
"Open the door, Myra," I say. To my surprise, the door begins to open, but it's not Myra behind the wheel. It's a young woman who's crying while Myra holds a gun to her head from the backseat. No one else is in the car with her. Where are Dustin and Colton? Was she lying about them being with her?
"I knew that bitch would run her mouth," Myra says.
"She didn't tell us until I forced it out of her yesterday. My people were waiting when you dropped off the package yesterday. It's a good thing Ari and Lydia took after their fathers and not you when it comes to brains," I tell her. I need to get the woman out safely while disarming Myra. I'll have to move fast, but I think I can pull it off.
"You're right. They did take after their dads, and just like them, they have no backbone. They're both pathetic pieces of shit." Ari doesn't seem fazed by her words, but my blood boils. I slowly move my hand with the knife out of view of Myra. I have to act now.
"I only see one pathetic piece of shit here, and she's holding a gun on a defenseless woman." I grab the woman's arms, yank her out of the car, and cut Myra's wrist with my knife at the same time. Myra drops the gun as blood pours out of the open wound. Benny grabs her gun and puts it in his waistband while Xavier pulls Myra out of the car.
"So you never had the twins with you. Why did you lie?" I ask as she tries to get loose from Xavier.
"Who said I lied?" I hear a scream that sends a chill down my spine. We all run to the house while Myra laughs. Valentina is screaming as she runs through the back door.
"They have Enzo. He ran away from the treehouse to check on Dakota and Ari. Before I could catch up with him, two men walked out of the trees, grabbed him, and ran through the forest. We all ran after them, but they got into a car on a side road and left." She sobs as Galdino wraps his arms around her. I grab Myra's face as she laughs and squeeze her hard until my nails cut into her flesh.
"Where are they taking him?" I ask her.
"Maybe I'll tell you, and maybe I won't, but if you kill me, you'll never find out. Think of all the things those sick freaks can do to him the longer he's with them." She laughs maniacally.
I grip my knife in my hand, and I want to slit her throat, but I can't. I have to get Enzo back. I swear if they hurt one hair on his head, I will skin them alive.
This is my fault. Enzo is gone because I didn't make everyone leave when she mentioned the twins. I will never forgive myself if he gets hurt.
