Chapter 181 Dakota's Request
Dakota's P.O.V.
After Benny leaves, I review what Noah and Kylie sent me, and what Sarah and Xavier sent. None of the businesses my other uncles were running seems to have any hidden secrets. I still need to check out our unclean businesses, but I need to take care of a few things first. I want Noah to see if he can find Rain's birth father. She deserves justice, and that is a top priority for me. I also want Noah and Kylie to find out what we need to do to transform the bar into a drug rehabilitation facility. I'll ask Gabe to help with the financial side. Right now, I need to talk to Luka. I have been putting off telling him about the contract between Yegor and Quincy, but it's time for him to know the truth. I walk to his room and knock on the door. Rain opens it a second later, and she smiles slightly. I walk into the bedroom, and she joins Luka on the couch.
"Is everything okay?" Luka asks, putting his arm over Rain's shoulders. Her face turns slightly pink, and I wish I could take a picture without them seeing. They look so sweet together.
"I need to talk to you about something Tyler and Shea discovered." I sit in one of his chairs and sigh.
"Do you want me to leave?" Rain asks.
"No, I want you to stay. Luka's going to need you." They both look at me with concern.
"What did they find?" Luka asks. I hand him the contract. He and Rain read over it, and Luka looks up at me with tears running down his cheeks.
"He had a contract that says he would ensure that I overdose? I can't believe it. Why would he do that? How did he even know I was using? I never told anyone." Luka is shaking with anger, and I believe if Rain weren't holding on to him, he would be tearing his bedroom apart right now.
"He had one of the dealers target you and increase the strength of the heroin that was given to you. He's responsible for you taking it that first time. It was all a setup, and each time after." Rain whispers something to him, and Luka kisses her forehead. I'm so thankful for her right now.
"It may have been a setup, but it was my decision to take it and to continue to take it. I could have said no. I'm still pissed at Yegor and wish I could bring him back to kill him again, but I'm to blame as well." I'm stunned. He's right; some of it was his decision, but I never thought he would come to that conclusion so quickly.
"You've grown a lot, Luka. I'm proud of you. I'm going to talk to Noah, Kylie, and Gabe so we can get started on turning the bar into a rehab facility. Can you guys work on how you want it set up? If you need to take a trip to the bar to look it over, get the keys from Tyler. I want you to make it however you think it should be to have the biggest impact on people." They look at each other and then smile at me.
"You don't waste any time," Luka laughs.
"Not when I hear a good idea." I stand to leave and stop at the door. "I'll let you know when we find your birth father, Rain. We'll let it be your decision what happens."
"Thank you. I never thought I would see him again, so if you find him, I want to ask him why he treated me like he did." I walk over and squat in front of her.
"You know he may not give you an answer, or if he does, I know it won't be a good one." I take her hand, and Rain shrugs.
"That's okay. I'm just thankful for the opportunity to ask and get justice. I can't thank you enough for changing my life." I stand and lean over to hug her.
"You deserve to be happy. Now, you are getting ready to change the lives of so many people. I'm proud of how you stayed strong despite everything that happened to you. Most people would have broken, but you didn't. Let me know if either of you needs anything." When I leave their room, I stop by Gabe's room to ask him about switching the business from a bar to a rehab facility for tax purposes, and he said he would begin working on it. I then stop and tell Noah and Kylie what I want them to do. They also start working on the information right away. When I'm finally done, I return to my bedroom and stop at the door. Ari has the recliner tipped back with Enzo on his lap. They're both sound asleep. I pull out my phone and take a picture as I sit down. After all the chaos, we all need whatever peaceful moments we can find.
