Chapter 163 Lady Boss
Dakota's P.O.V.
"Can you have someone get rid of her? I need to talk to Galdino." I look at Xavier, and he nods. I go inside the house, and Tyler and Shea are still at the table.
"Are you guys going to get some sleep?" I ask them.
"Soon, I'm glad you're here. We found something." Tyler slides something over to me.
"What is it?" I pick it up and gasp at what I'm reading. Yegor had signed a contract with one of the other families that once Luka died from an overdose, then Yegor would kill me so he could take over and become a partner with the other family. I look at the signatures.
"Quincy Faucett. He's the same son of a bitch who sent Jamie here. Looks like he was going to double-cross Yegor because he had her kidnapped by him with plans to go to the police. I want to tell Luka myself. I'm meeting with Rain and him in the morning, so I'll do it then. Did you find anything else?" I want to show the contract to Galdino.
"So far, there is nothing we don't already know. We're going to have Noah see if he can crack the code on the trafficking stuff," Tyler says.
"Tomorrow, I want you to bring that stuff to my bedroom. Ari is good with that stuff, too. I'll find a way for him to use a laptop. It will make him feel like he's helping because he's feeling like a burden right now." Shea smiles at me.
"Yeah, that sounds like him. He was always a computer geek. This will be good for him. Honestly, you're more of a mafia boss than he will ever be. He tries to do what Galdino wants, but I don't think he ever had the heart for it. That's probably one of the reasons Galdino is so happy you two are together. You're like the daughter he never had." I chuckle and nod.
"Yeah, he's told me as much a few times. I will show this to Galdino and try to get some more sleep. Don't be up all night." I leave the kitchen and head upstairs to Galdino's room. When I knock on the door, he tells me to come in, and I see he's on the phone. I hand him the contract, and his eyes widen.
"I'm sorry, Quincy, but something has come up. I will talk to you later." Galdino disconnects the call.
"I take it, you know Quincy Faucett," I say.
"Yes, he's the head of the Faucett family. He took over from his dad about twenty years ago." Galdino reads over the contract.
"He's the one who sent Jamie here. She said she was supposed to get between Ari and me so Quincy could eventually kill me. She said he's afraid our families together will be too powerful." He sits back in his chair and sighs.
"Well, rats always show up when you least expect them. He called to tell me about a dinner he attended at the twins’ house. Apparently, several families are getting together to come after us. He said he wanted to help us, but I didn't buy it. He's always been a little weasel." Galdino stands and hugs me. How did he know I needed that right now? Sometimes, I feel like I'm going to break at any minute.
"What do you say we make him believe we're willing to work with him? He doesn't know Jamie is dead, and we have her phone. We can text him and say it's too risky to talk. Give him some false information and lead him into a trap. I will destroy all those other families if it means protecting mine." Galdino chuckles and kisses my cheek.
"You, Dakota, are stronger than all the bosses, me included. I will have your back. Just tell me what you need." I smile as I hug him again. It's time to show them why you shouldn't fuck with a lady boss.
