204. Triumphant

204. Triumphant
Alpha King Vincent

I felt his strength and the anger boiling inside his body as Alpha Xander crushed his heart in front of all the warriors and rogues, and before my very eyes. Everyone stared at him and no one dares to move or say anything even I was stunned for a second before I realized that I have to declare that the enemies have no more leader. Rio's eyes turned blank before his body collapsed on the floor creating a loud thud.

"Rio is dead! Long live Alpha Xander of the West who defended his territory with courage!"

I howled loudly, echoing through the lands of the West, declaring our triumph and giving fear to the remaining enemies as they dropped to the ground and whimpered. They surrendered to the warriors of the West and to my warriors which survived.

"Alpha Xander! Are you alright?"

Alex run towards him and hold his shoulders. His hands still hold the heart of Rio, but he crushed it strongly and then held his head high. Just like a brave warrior who won the fight.

"The war is over, the West will now live in peace!"

His expression changes into a fighter, gone is the child that lives in him. Alpha Xander is now a full-grown wolf, despite his young age. The determination and strength in his face are what I admire most. The only Alpha who slaughter his enemy at such a young age. Alpha Xander, I give him my respect.

The warriors of the West howled in triumph, the war is finished. "Calib, take all the prisoners to the jail and someone please nurse the wounded wolves and let them get immediate treatment."

I instructed the wolves to move after the moments of embracing our victory. Alex hug Alpha Xander when his body trembled in shock and emotion. The war must be over but it will take time before he could forget the trauma of the fight and the death of many warriors tonight.

"Where is my mother?"

In a low voice, he ask Alex when he regained his calmness.

"She is hurt, but I think Mrs. Harger will survive Alpha."

His head nodded after hearing that from him and then he walk towards me and meet my gaze. "Thank you Alpha King Vincent, you have supported me a lot and I have relied mostly everything to the warriors of the Royal pack and you. I owe you my life and the future of the Western pack."

I shook my head vigorously disagreeing with his statement.

"I have given you my support but it is you who attained victory Alpha Xander. You bring justice and triumph to this pack, my duty as the Alpha King is only to guide you and now I can see that you won't be needing me much longer. You have my respect, you deserve to lead the West as their Alpha! Remember that you have the strength of a true warrior and lead this pack with peace and glory."

I held out my hand so I can formally shake his and let him know that he did great. He hesitated, however, he took my hand in a firm handshake accepting my declaration.

The blood in his other hand is still there. I saw Alex and the other warriors took the body of Rio and the other wolves that are killed in the fight. There is a lot of things to be done before I could finally say goodbye to the West. A lot of repairs to do in the Alpha mansion and the wounded has to be treated as well.

"Your majesty, I think our job is finished here please tell us when you are ready to leave."

Calib whispered to me before he continues the clean-up inside the mansion. I stay still and look around, Alpha Xander move to help his warriors too. I watch him returning into his young self helping the warriors and getting instructions from Alex, the two have become close. Perhaps I could make a decision and appoint someone to be his Beta, someone older than him that would never betray his trust. I know that my friend will never leave him after this, they have formed a friendship that is deep enough to become a family.

It was difficult on my part to have come into a decision to leave one of my friend here in the West. I know that Alpha Xander will become stronger, however, the presence of a good and loyal Beta follower is essential in his rule, as every Alpha does.

Three days have passed by until the Alpha mansion returned into its former glory. Furniture have been renewed and the damaged is repaired. The Alpha mansion is even better than before, it looks bigger and more stronger than it was. As the day of our return to the Langston Palace is approaching, I called a meeting with Alpha Xander and the lead warriors of the Western pack.

"Is this the time when we need to say our goodbye to our friends here in the Western pack?"

Alex teased around with a smile on his face. While Alpha Xander sat silently beside me on the round table and Calib is on my right.

"I'm afraid that you are wrong Alex."

Calib raised his head and look at me in surprised while Alex gasped. Alpha Xander is also looking at me intently and all of the warriors sitting around are keeping their mouth shut.

"Alpha King Vincent? Aren't we leaving tomorrow?"

Calib, ask me with his confused expression in his eyes, I have just discussed with him our departure tomorrow morning, and yet here I am saying the opposite to Alex.

"Don't get confuse Calib, yes we are leaving tomorrow however Alex stays. I am appointing him as the Beta of the Western pack. Alex is to swear an oath to stay by Alpha Xander's side and protect him, keep him safe and the Western pack as well."

Alpha Xander stood from his seat. "No, Alpha King Vincent! You have done enough. Alex has to come home with you."

He look at Alex who's expression remained smiling. He is in favor of my decision I can tell that he is happy to stay. "I insist Alpha Xander, it is about time that I promote Alex into your Beta, he has served the Western pack longer than the other warriors. The young warriors here need him, you don't have to worry about how he feels about my decision for he is more than willing to stay."

Alex grab him to sit back in the chair and he followed. "Thank you your majesty, it is my honor to be the new Beta of the Western pack, I have treat Alpha Xander as my younger brother even though he has a higher status than me. I am willing to stay and work with him to keep the peace in the Western pack."

Alpha Xander smiled and nodded his head, now he understood that Alex cares for him and the bond between them is now stronger as an Alpha to his Beta.

"Wow! Congratulations Alex! I am happy for you buddy!"

Calib rose from his seat and hug Alex. The warriors are now greeting him too, the next thing to do is to formally announced the decision into the whole Western pack.

"Tonight we will make it official. Alex will do the oath as your Beta, Alpha Xander. Let all the wolves of the Western pack know that we have decided it."

Alpha Xander bow his head to me and replied.

"Yes Alpha King Vincent. Tonight we will celebrate and formally introduce to all the wolves of my pack that Alex is now my new Beta. He will stay here with me!"

I nodded and the warriors around clap their hands in rejoice of accepting the new Beta.

"Congratulations Beta Alex!"

Alex stand up and bow in front of every one. "Thank you all for accepting me and more importantly to Alpha King Vincent for giving me this promotion. I have love staying here in the West, so I am happy to accept the new role given to me. Thank you also to Alpha Xander who took me in and let me do my work."

Alpha Xander shook his head and smile. "No, I should be the one thanking you Beta Alex. For your help with the warriors of the Western pack. Your loyalty is unrivaled. I know that your family is in the Royal pack but I will be happy to accept them if they wish to stay here with you."

Alex bow his head to Alpha Xander. His parents are staying with us in the Langston lands back at the Royal pack, Alpha Xander knows that. We will make the necessary arrangements if they want to stay here with Alex in the Western pack.
