Chapter 48 Showing Off His Favor

Chapter 48 Showing Off His Favor

The moment she saw the photo, Seraphina felt her breath catch.

She had expected Wendy's situation to be bad, but she never imagined it would be this terrible!

Soon, another text message came through on her phone.

[If you want to know Miss Harrison's exact situation, come meet me here. I'll be waiting for you.]

It seemed the messages were from Susan.

Could Wendy be in her hands right now?

Seraphina's heart pounded. She didn't dare delay and immediately gathered her things to head to the location Susan had sent.

It was a coffee shop.

When she pushed the door open, Susan was already there, wearing a white dress and sitting in a corner, waving to get her attention.

Seraphina walked over quickly. Too impatient for small talk, she got straight to the point: "Since you have this photo of Wendy, you must know where she is, right? Did you kidnap her?"

Susan smiled faintly.

She shook her head, putting on an innocent look: "How could that be, Seraphina? This has nothing to do with me. I just happened to get into a car accident with Miss Harrison!"

"I guess it's my fault. When I saw that car, I remembered you had been in it and wanted to go say hello. I didn't expect to accidentally crash into it!"

"Miss Harrison was really fierce. She got out and yelled at me. I was already injured, and I couldn't take it and fainted right there. When I woke up, I was in the hospital, and Miss Harrison was nowhere to be found. Right now, this photo is all I have!"

Seraphina frowned, a cold look in her eyes: "So you don't know where Wendy is?"

Susan nodded: "I really don't know. I asked you to come here just to get you to talk to Michael. He doesn't need to do all this for me—it makes me feel so guilty."

Seraphina clenched her fists, fighting the urge to punch her in the face. After all, Wendy was still in their hands!

If anything happened to Susan, they wouldn't be able to get back at her, so they would definitely take it out on Wendy instead.

She had no choice but to endure it!

"Do you really feel guilty? If you did, you wouldn't keep chasing after a married man! Susan, let's be direct—what will it take for you to let Wendy go!" Seraphina stared at her, her tone cold.

Susan smiled faintly: "Seraphina, haven't you ever thought that some things aren't stolen by me? All I have to do is glance at them, and Michael will hand them to me on a silver platter?"

"There's nothing I can do. In his heart, I'm just that special! I don't need anything. I'm very satisfied with my life right now..."

As Susan spoke, she glanced at the time, a blush appearing on her face.

"It's about time. Michael should be coming to the hospital to see me soon. If he finds out I'm not there, he'll worry!"

"Don't worry too much, Seraphina. At least Miss Harrison isn't in life-threatening danger yet. Try to talk some sense into Michael. I don't want anyone to actually die."

With that, she picked up her bag and left cheerfully, leaving Seraphina sitting there alone.

That photo consumed all of Seraphina's rational thought.

She knew clearly that Susan hadn't called her out today to threaten her or negotiate terms. She was simply showing off.

Showing off that Michael would go this far for her, not even sparing Wendy.

Anyone who crossed Susan would meet a bad end!

This move was enough to crush someone's spirit!

Seraphina's heart ached so much she could barely breathe.

She picked up the coffee on the table and drank it all in one gulp, but it couldn't compare to the bitterness in her heart.

Then she got up and headed to the hospital like a walking corpse.

When Seraphina arrived at the hospital, Susan was already back.

She had changed into a hospital gown and was lying obediently in the hospital bed.

Michael sat at her bedside.

Through the crack in the door, she could see them close together, like lovers in the heat of romance, intimate and inseparable.

Seraphina watched, a bitter smile tugging at her lips.

She didn't go in to disturb them. After all, she was the one at a disadvantage now.

No matter what it cost, she had to make sure Wendy was safe first!

"Michael, I'm much better now. You don't need to come see me every day."

Michael didn't respond to Susan.

He kept his eyes lowered for a long while, then asked coldly: "Susan, you left the hospital today? Where did you go?"

Susan froze, as if she hadn't expected to be found out: "I was just so bored, so I went out by myself for a bit. I didn't stay long—I came back quickly!"

She could only make up an excuse.

Fortunately, Michael didn't ask more questions, just told her to rest well.

Before she knew it, an hour had passed.

The hospital room door finally opened, and Seraphina quickly stepped forward.

Seeing Seraphina standing before him, Michael's expression was cold and clearly unsurprised. He lifted his foot and walked toward the elevator.

Seraphina's heart tightened, and she quickly moved forward to block him.

"Michael, wait."

Michael's steps paused slightly, his voice crisp: "What do you want?"

Seraphina clenched her fists, furious inside.

What else could it be?

Michael clearly knew everything—why was he still pretending!

"I'm here about Wendy."

Michael raised an eyebrow and laughed coldly: "Didn't you have a lot of backbone before? No matter what I said, you refused to give in to any conditions. So what are you doing now?"

Then his expression suddenly turned cold, and he reminded her in a low voice.

"Seraphina, I shouldn't need to teach you how to beg, should I!"

Seraphina's heart tightened. She understood he wanted her to beg pitifully.

Instantly, humiliation wrapped tightly around her.

Why? Why should she be treated like this?

But fortunately, even though she had been subjected to cold treatment these past few days without finding a solution, Seraphina hadn't given up on herself.

She had already thought of a way to deal with this.

Make her cry and beg? In his dreams!

She wouldn't give Michael that chance.

Seeing Seraphina's determined eyes, looking like she would rather die than submit, Michael's gaze turned cold.

He said nothing more and didn't insist. He lifted his foot and walked toward the elevator.

Watching his tall, straight back, Seraphina took a deep breath and said coldly.

"If you're willing to let Wendy go, I can give you the medicine for your mother. I know about her condition. If she doesn't take it, things will only get worse. Eventually, it could develop into stomach cancer. Only the medicine I can provide will help!"

Hearing this, Michael's steps paused.

He turned around, a cold light flashing in his eyes: "So you've had this medicine all along but refused to give it? In your eyes, is my mother's life not as important as your friend's?"

Seraphina laughed coldly.

How ridiculous. Since when could Bianca be compared to Wendy?

She looked up, staring directly at Michael.

"Just tell me—do you want this medicine or not?"
