Return of the absent Father
I waited several hours for my father to show up. I gave him the address to Hunter's house where I am currently staying. I had just given up hope of him arriving when I heard a car pulling up to the residence. I ran to the door; I know this in many ways is a bad idea.
Hunter still hates him, I am praying to God that Hunter does not magically reappear or notice his scent otherwise, this could definitely be a blood bath. I walk out of the house and greet the man who has been absent my entire life through no one's fault but my sadistic mother’s.
I walk toward him and wrap my arms around him. I do not know when I started crying but, the tears just continue to fall. I never realized how much pain and sorrow I have been holding in my heart. Never realized how much I have been craving my biological father. Hunter has been amazing but, finally meeting the man I have been longing for my entire life and having him accept me is priceless. He lifts my head up and dries my eyes with his shirt sleeves.
“Molly, who hurt you?” I shook my head.
“I never realized how much I have been missing you in my life until now” My father nodded his head and planted a kiss on my forehead.
We walk to his car, and he asks me everything that has been happening. I explained to him all that I know. My mother possibly resurrecting, the shock of my betrothal to her neighbors son who is a dark wizard, the issues with my mate Callan and his father Alpha Bryson.
My father deeply growls at the scenario which happened today. He tells me that he never had a good relationship with Alpha Bryson, and always found him to be cold-hearted and ruthless. I shudder at the image of this afternoon's wolf fight scenario. I slide lower into the seat and rest my head against the door as we continue to drive. I try my best to fall asleep, however, my mind is too stressed to allow me a peaceful slumber.
I stay awake the entire time until I begin to see the outline of a village. As we continue to drive closer, I can feel my stomach twisting in knots. It has been a chaotic whirlwind learning more about me this year. Like a swirling storm that is breaking me into a world that I never thought could ever exist. For years, I realized that I never knew my mother like I thought I did, I realize that I never knew myself.
So many secrets she kept from me. I used to think it was trying to make sure I stayed human. Now I know, she was isolating me away from everyone. However, I have realized now that she was planning to start me into her dark circle of witches.
By completely blinding me to the supernatural, she was going to manipulate me into the dark arts she was in charge of. I would have naturally been willing to join. I was blinded by the whole “mommy dearest” façade, and I knew I would join to please my mother. I would have agreed to the betrothal, believing that it would make her happy. I would let myself believe that it was “a natural order of things, and I should accept it.”
Nature is a mysterious and marvelous thing. Nature also has a mind of its own. I know now that no matter how much my mother would try to isolate me away from society, she did not want me near, nature had other plans. As we all know, natural evolution is an unstoppable force.
We drive through the town, and I can already sense everyone's stare. My father holds my hands tight, trying to bring me comfort, however, it does little to provide it. I hear the whispers, wondering what or who is also in the car. I heard some people snarl, saying they smell filth.
We approached a large house, which he informs me is his home. I can feel the trepidation rolling off of him in waves. I hear his deep vicious snarl, and some people who were staring hurry away. He squeezes my head.
“Do not worry Molly, I will not let anything happen to you.”
I turn to him, “what happens if you are not in the room, and they decide to strike?” He looks at me with worry.
“Everyone has been told to not touch you, anyone who defies my ruling will pay the price” I shake my head.
I have a feeling, if some of these people really have it in mind someone will do something. I feel no one will bat an eye or turn them in. They look after their own.
We exited the car, and I took a look at the house. It is so beautiful; it reminds me of Mr. Darcy’s Pemberley home in the book Pride and Prejudice. We walk through the elegantly carved doors; the floor is white and a navy-blue marble. The walls are decorated with beautiful wallpaper. Some of the rooms are colored red, others are colored yellow or white with gold trim. This type of place I could see Hunter owning, just how wealthy is my real dad?
