Chapter 187

Chapter 187
Tyson
“Your highness, the citizens of the pack are ready for you.” Said Mr. Julian. The camera crew was already filming, but that wasn’t what made me nervous… What did was my people’s perception of me.
At the moment, I was my true visage. I did not sugar coat it. All who saw my face as newcomers would see their king as how he is. Unedited.
I gave him a nod, and the hyena guards opened the doors… Fuck that was a lot of mortals, though, I have a speech scheduled for the masses after I hear a few of them.
I rang the bell that sat between me and my wife. I wore a suit tailored to my true size.
….I felt like I had a hangover or something, but I wouldn’t keep the council waiting. This was the last in person conference before a 5-month recess, or an emergency appears.
“This meeting before recess was delayed. And, as King, I formally apologize for my absence, due to unforeseen circumstances.” I said formally, while actively agitated.
“It’s good to see you well your highness.” Said Ronitus.
“Thank you Beta.” I said with a nod, still thinking about what my brother told me. “I also hold this meeting, that we may hear normal civilians. We who rule are blessed… We do not see how other packs function, we do not hear the worries of commoners. And honestly, I think it’s a good thing for all of us to hear their plights.”
Like what Alpha Green of GreenMoon got away with. It isn’t illegal, and Kaizen was worked up, ranting about it, but the text Kaizen sent before he took his vacation had me see red with him for a moment.
A servant quietly passed me printed files on the Alpha in question, though at the moment he’s broken no laws.
Alpha Green of GreenMoon already has notes that he’d been in an altercation with CrimsonMoon, all the way back when grandpa Kaiden was in line to be Crown Prince, before I was born. That dispute was over pack members he refused to release, but his recent actions while already mated to another is too much.
He lost his true mate years ago, however the void it made created pack dysfunction.
Alpha Green claimed a she wolf, made her Luna and slept with one of his Warriors. The young she wolf in her 50’s fled to my brother’s pack, and he put Green on child support. Kaizen also ordered Alpha Green to visit or Zoomie his child regularly that the pup knows his father, but no laws were broken.
Not yet.
I need to type up this law, and have our lawyers flesh out the addendums to the mostly untouched Alpha Code of Conduct, but once it’s created, I will be even more unpopular.
“The first agenda is the progress on the influx of refugees.” I motioned Ronitus to speak.
“It goes smoothly.” My Second Seat said with a smile, passing me the printed graphs on the weak Omegas that would otherwise be on the streets.
“I’m more than happy to see the new subjects as well.” I said firmly. “As King, I am here to hear my subjects.”
I was meaning to do that two days ago, but I would rather not puke around the mortals…. I ruined the pipes in the bathroom… so I assume the same could happen here in the open.
The first to come into the room was one of the applicants I personally screened, Jeorge Walsburg. He was not one of note, just an Omega from Poland, leaving because the local packs were prioritizing Warriors, since humans knew the old stories. Most didn’t hunt, but hunting still happened, and for it, the pale, blonde wolf had little choice but to find somewhere that would take in his family.
And as he saw me, I tried to appear neutral. I would not hide my appearance; as usual. I remain myself.
“You may speak.” I motioned the mortal, and he stood there a second, looking at me with bobble sized eyes because I looked like an Old One. He didn’t even think of me as a werewolf.
“My English is not so well sir.” He said with a thick accent, and I spoke in his native tongue. I picked up several, but I already knew this one because of Tiffany, my great Aunt Heidi’s daughter. A lot of her relatives are eastern European, so I figured to learn some years ago.
“I understand most major languages.” I said honestly, so he collected himself, telling his dormant, inactive wolf that it would be alright.
“I came as a representative of my family, and the other families that came from the southern border of Poland sire.” He said looking down, bowing his head still.
I motioned for him to raise his head, and he continued.
“We hugged the border of whatever pack would tolerate us… and Humans in those small villages were still superstitious…. They knew what to look for, so I was usually a runner for the local Rogues in the area. Sometimes, Alphas would ask of us too since they kick out many of their Omegas, to the point to where they have shortages.”
“What made you come here?” I asked, but I already knew.
I actually saw.
It was a fleeting vision; one filled with him being kicked in the snow and told to begone after they were strung along. He ran their errands, and risked his life for scraps, but here, his life would be easier. I saw him hold his head, and I eased up with my aura. I didn’t mean to accidentally harm him with my perturb attitude.
“I came because Alpha Gold of GoldenMoon abused the way things were for we weaklings… Now he’s contacted me twice, promising a place, when originally ‘he didn’t have any’.” He said a little bitterly.
But who wouldn’t be.
“And because of your account, you can text him back that he did this to himself.” I said as he kneeled on bended knee. “Rise; you have already given your respect to the crown.”
“Thank you sire.” He said dipping his head….
The really were poorly mistreated.
“I’m going to redo the Alpha Codes of Conduct.” I said out loud, but maybe I should have waited. “I hear all your groans. Do you think it fair the weak are abused? Are they meant to be dogs?”
“The only time anyone gets mad about being held accountable, is because they’re the ones breaking the boundaries.” Said Oliver, and I must admit, for him also to be one of the youngest men in this throne room, his foresight is on par with any elder.
“…Thank you sire.” Said Jeorge in disbelief.
“No, thank you for being honest, and risking it to be here. I see according to your records, you moved here, and you’re aiding in the delivery service once you’re certified.”
To do so, he’ll have to pass written exams on the road signs in English and French, but I knew he could do it. He can already drive, and operate forklifts, but the certifications don’t transfer from country to country.
“I would have never been able to afford it sire if not for your backing.” He said before the next person came in.
And he was right.
Every story from each family, or representative of a region told me similar stories. By noon, I kind of knew I would have to wing my speech, rather than the one I wrote up. All the while, a camera crew documented everything, and this made the digital wolf newsletter.
Everyone more or less got to speak, or have someone speak for them. And now, it was my turn.
I would address my people directly, right now.
I adjusted my tie, and cleared my throat.
“For my newcomers, I bid you welcome, and for those who have been here for generations, I offer the same. No wolf should be forced to be without a pack… No wolf should be put down, pushed aside, or shoved to the wayside of the dregs of society because they lack strength. No wolf, none, be they Rogue or pack, should be out in the wilds to become a Hunter’s jacket, unless they earned that fate, not receive it for no reason. As King, I welcome all who wish to come to my pack. You have my word in blood that you can have a life here.”
