Chapter 184

Chapter 184
Samira
It was hot outside in the royal courtyard, but it didn't matter as today we had company. Cicadas buzz in the heat, but at least we had citronella candles and fly spray to keep the pests out of the vicinity.
Gossip was a buzz in the royal community. Not only had Diana had her child early, but he was born a Lesser Contradiction. Although it did spark some controversy, ultimately, because of the various blessings he received, he was protected. Also, because of the technicality of him never being able to speak with his voice, whatever calamity that was supposed to be activated by him could never happen.
Through Kaizen’s words come like he quite literally hold the voice of this child. He will never speak a word even if he tried. But at the same time, it did not impact him at all in his life. This toothed smile, and happy giggles with my son were more than enough for me. I'm not sure what authority I would have for a blessing, but if I needed to give one, I would have as well.
Despite how I feel about Diana, as most do, I would never allow her child to suffer for her actions nor Herculian to have his first and only son in a grave.
Those born with the power of contradiction tend to put a strain on whatever world they live on, but because he was not fully fledged nor could he ever become, he was safe. What I still don't understand why he needed the aid of the Night Court?
I suppose it adds another layer of camaraderie and cooperation, that the future generations will no one appreciate each other's company as friends and family rather than how some of the elders still regard each other with suspicion and hatred.
That's suspicion and hatred was warranted because in the eyes of the supernatural especially, the loss of their loved ones still felt as yesterday or even this morning. One would be able to recall in detail the atrocity and transgressions committed against their people, whereas humans would have passed down those transgressions and they might morph. But even in the most outlandish legend there may be a kernel of truth. There may be a lesson somewhere akin to an Aey’sop fable, as Hillius was going to be…
or my son.
I would not know what that lesson would be, nor do I think anyone would learn anything from it, but that none of the children that were fated to die did so… And now, I was enjoying the fruit of some of our labor. Hillius Played with my son very gently, because he knew how small and fragile my child was compared to himself. He was born able to walk and talk, yet, he was somewhat stunted for a few hours that someone could save him, and Tyson opened the way.
To my understanding, we weren't to speak of it because technically you aren't to bless a child twice and Kaizen did so inadvertently. My theory is that it was done on purpose so that should another need a double blessing, technically a cheat was made for the light side so it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to do so for the night side as well.
But Diana and Herculian sat in chairs next to Tyson and myself. We watched Lustros crawl around his cousin, And his cousin already seems to have many of the features that those who did not wish for someone with his powers to possess.
I can already see the dappling of his skin, the heterochromia, and the oddly flat, yet serrated shark teeth in his mouth as he smiled. He already had claws but Diana did not allow his hair to be disheveled. She had them, all textures of his hair locked and braided. It wasn't an incredibly small ponytail, with the locks pointing out like little porcupine quills, while they played with a small toy cart that Herculian made just for him. The crude but functional toy rolled around on bumpy wheels in the grass, occasionally squeaking since it was apparent that this was completely handmade and hand glued.
It isn't uncommon that fae, demigods, and long lived people pick up a hobby or two. I suppose that even in the olden times, one might have even made a little bit of money selling some of these toys if not for selling their services with their weapon skills. There are so many legends of Diana and Herculian.
It's almost unreal sitting next to literal living legends, people who toppled the great generals and defeated all but the realm king. Yet at the same time, it isn't always good to meet ones heroes, especially since I've gotten to know them in such casual fashion. While others would be in shock and awe, this was just a lazy Sunday morning.
\[Ma!\] Squeaked Lustros happily.
“That's going on the web page.” Said Tyson, pulling out his phone.
“Would you mind sending that to me so we can go on ours as well?” Diana Estes diplomatically as if somehow we wouldn't want to give this adorable footage!
“Of course!” We both beamed at the same time, then chuckled a bit.
“I think it would be a good thing to show that he's just a child.” I said that in honesty because he is just a child. The issue is that the elders of this world still struggle with the concept of peace. They've warred so long that even the concept the idea of it was still foreign.
They were still used to dealing with every threat with the utmost brutality or vigil that required a blade, yet a lot of that is no longer required. So long as we raise our children right, they will want to grow up to protect this world and not be part of the problem.
I also watched as my son decided on his own to jump out of the little cart, but thankfully it wasn't going fast at all. He rolled around since he was plump… that may have been my fault this time..… but his mischievous giggle got ‘awes’ out of any who saw.
“I'm still worried that there may be some kind of retaliation from all of these fated children not meeting their fate.” Said Diana suddenly. “But if there is any type of retaliation, or consequence, I'm positive that we will be ready, as I see your son's heart. There is not a drop of malice. Not an ounce of hatred. There is no anger to drive his feet only the desire for milk and friendship….”
“The only thing that will interrupt these children is if we allow those with negativity in their hearts to either poison our children or be the poison.” Tyson said leaning against the edge of the round outdoor table, having his ankle resting comfortably on his knee.
It was just big enough for my son to fit inside and his tail wagged to no end, now that his eyes were slightly open, he could somewhat see… I think..… They were the smallest slits, revealing bluish eyes that would change as he got older and they opened more.
He also made my son a toy horse, but it was also incredibly crude.
