Chapter 185
Uriel
I watched the two children play while their parents conversed, glad that I didn't have to interfere, gladder still I did not have to swing my blade on the child. What the Demigod Of Strength does not realize, is that if not for the Lord of Light, Hillius would have never been able to receive blessing at all. He would have spoken before Herculian got a chance to get to Tyson, let alone his brother Kaizen….
And for it, the master is a little cross, but he will have to get over it. If the master didn't want Herculilan to be this upset with him, he should have probably said something. And now, out of principle I know he won't….
Herculean almost left the Light Court for this, something I don’t think the master fully understands since he has so many unclaimed… He has so many that if not for his grandiose magic and might, he may not even remember 1% of their names…
I sent my report scroll up.
With magic, a new one fell into my hand. I had few tasks. I decided to go to the first one. It was a 5-star, top priority mission.
I was tasked to prevent heresy on one of the Lord of Light’s favorite worlds. The issue would not be if there were only mortals doing this, but the issue is that there is a soldier of the Light influencing the zeal.
The war is Over. What the Fuck do they think causing these especially blessed humans will do on their home world… unless they plan to plant them on Urth.
With about 5 flaps, I was there.
I teleported as a beam of light, zipping through with the magic the gods allow their champions, generals, demigods, and Old Ones with special permissions use. The Light Court has its own system, as does the Night.
It’s not faster than light… but it does manipulate reality. It should have taken me years to do this mission, yet I was already looking at the golden hue of the planet. The vegetation here was mostly yellow, and for it, all the land masses contrasted with the lush green waters.
I cannot allow a world so beautiful to fall to zeal.
I made a big show of this, flying across the sky, looking like an angel with my wings rather than a unicorn. All who had the Second Sight to see, waved, bowed, or pointed. That made me feel worse… Should it come down to it… and I am too late… I may have to cleave this world.
“Halt General.” Said the fully armored half angel. “Full glad am I to see thee!”
The half angel’s deep raven hair and black wings told me that she was from Lord Humblon’s division. He makes saturated colors, while Lord Arviel makes pastel angels. However, the uniforms are all standard issue silver.
Her lieutenant was a full angel, scenting like her father. He had the same medium complexion, and raven hair, but the difference was that his child seemed to be about twice his strength. With angels, their powers are akin to rolling dice. No one knows how it works, and I’ve seen some weaker angels change drastically in great times of strife, and others never improve.
“I am Uriel, The First Unicorn. I know I need not say all my long titles.” I said summoning my blade.
As it appeared in my hand, I cut some of the atmosphere of the world around me, and I waved my left hand that general direction to fix that. It wasn’t my intention, but I was in a bit of a mood.
“….No, there is no need General.” She bowed her head. “I am Li’yia, guardian of this world, Rearth. That is my father, LT. Vah’lina…. You’re here for my sister, I believe.”
“Aye.” I said firmly.
“We did not know she has done this my lord.” She shed tears. As they fell to the sky it began to become cloudy, and rain. “We did not notice until I scented unholy magic.”
“Compose thyself before the general.” Said her father firmly. I could tell by his expression… He has never had to do this.
“No, do not belittle her feelings.” I said holding up my hand. “Speak.”
“We did not know, but my sister Velk’nel began acting strangely once the master declared the end of the war…”
“When we scented the ill magic, we did not hesitate sire.” Her father bowed his head,
“I had to report her.” She said that sadly, and I felt for her. I really did. Being created… One day I was just made, an adult…. She was born from a mortal mother, and her angel father helps keep watch.
But she is strongest.
“You did the right thing…. If her influence reaches more humans… Your planet will be scheduled for collection.”
Her glare at the world below told me volumes…. She loves her sister, but she also loves her planet, the mortals that live on it, and the gods who run it…
I knew this would take no time… And as I flew slowly, I let them make their peace.
I followed them, and I could smell the sweet rot of overzealous cultists…. They did love the Light, but they were also blinded by their own sense of right and wrong…
“We tried my lord, but there is only so much we can do, being barred from appearing directly to humans.” Said Li’yia firmly. “Velk’nel… she did this… She broke the law and appeared to them.”
“Then… They started killing, and converting survivors to their cause. Yesterday.” Said Lt. Vah’lina. “I... I learned human heartbreak that day.”
“I’m sorry…. I’ve known its bite before as well, but this is for the best. Stay back if you do not wish to watch.”
“No, my lord.” He said bowing his head.
The unit I left behind finally caught up. They said nothing as they had their blades out, ready for my order.
She hissed. “They were good, just people my lord. Please… please cartelize this wound.”
I made no promises, landing in front of the white marble mansion built on top of a large yellow field of grass. The golden grains looked ready to be harvested if grew on my home world, but here that was just regular grass, not wheat.
I could hear them inside the small stone building they made seemingly by hand. There was a homeliness to it, where the grey brick was stacked correctly, but a little off center. The mortar between the stones were a little uneven.
“I will do this.” I said firmly, drawing my blade. It made the wind blow around me… and I did not want to do this.
I wanted to talk to them, to tell them to surrender but I was given my orders. They are to die…
So I will do it swiftly… with mercy. They were making a portal down there, and I will not have Urth invaded by unauthorized soldiers.
I pointed my blade down, and a beam of light evaporated them to their souls. In one swing, the mortals were reaped, and so was the half angel. I would not bother remembering their name after what they’d done.
They did this.
That soldier betrayed man.
They die because she angered the master… They wish for Sanctuary to actually happen.
If they didn’t, either side would allow someone like them, some third party that isn’t in the miliary to ignite the flames back to life…
So his order, is that they die.
In my anger, I melted a large crater into the ground about 4 feet deeper than the foundation of their building, and when the ashes clear… and the field finishes burning, a new grass field will grow as a tombstone for the ashes of the flesh of those mortals.
/Tell them to come Above./ Said Lord Zumitas, the Endless Mountain. Now that he no longer eternally drowns in the ocean, all messages like that come from him, not the masters, or Tirris, the bull who serves as Lord Humblon’s familiar.
I Swear I recognize him from somewhere but I suppose since Lord Humblon makes minotaur, Tirris looks like one of his favorites.
“Now, every angel, be they half or full, report to the master. He wishes to assess you.” I said leaving.
I crossed this five-star task off my scroll, and zipped west. I need to monitor Micheal and make sure he is merciful to the unit who were caught flying toward Urth.
Lustros may not be part of the Light Court, but the eyes of the excommunicated are upon him….. Some would not accept that we were inching, crawling towards a world of peace… So, they left. Both mortal and soldier.
Some still think, or perhaps refuse to acknowledge the great strides that have been made on both sides…. My people forget that we were also wrong. It was war, but we didn’t have to slay the innocent as they did.
