Chapter 110 Begin Again

Chapter 110 Begin Again
Quinn's POV

"Come here, I'll whisper something to you," said Dylan.

I obeyed, bending down slightly so Dylan could reach my ear.

Honestly, I didn't suspect Dylan at all because I wasn't joking either. But what he said was so unexpected that I pinched his arm.

"You naughty boy!" I snapped.

Dylan smiled mysteriously. "But I'm sure it will calm him down. You have to come to the game the day after tomorrow too."

"Of course I will. But the other thing... argh, that's embarrassing, Dylan."

"Hey, what's embarrassing about it? Don't you guys usually do it?"

Yes, but usually Grayson initiates it. Even if I ever initiated it, it wasn't too extreme and only made him come.

I whined to Dylan. "I can't do it."

"From what I've observed, Grayson always seems to want to pounce on you, and sorry, but it seems like after you guys do it, he's always in a good mood."

I glared at Dylan. "You've been watching us?"

"Hey, no! I mean, afterwards. I live here too. So I can't help but see Grayson every day, just like you."

I covered my face with my hands. Honestly, I was embarrassed that Dylan had noticed.

But what Dylan said was true. Grayson's face after we made love was like the bright morning sun. And I also realized that his gaze was just as Dylan had described.

Maybe I should look for a tutorial on how to seduce men on the internet? Ewwhh.

But I really need it. But I'm also afraid Grayson will find out.

"You still have time to think about it. You said you have an appointment today, right? An interview."

I slapped my forehead and panicked instantly. "You're right! I have an appointment at 10 a.m. today!"

I rushed to my room, leaving Dylan behind.

Maybe I could come up with an idea on the way to my interview, or maybe after the interview was over, I could come up with an idea.

Yeah, I don't have to worry too much, right?

"Okay, Quinn. You can start working here tomorrow. Three days a week, full-time. You can discuss the schedule with your coworkers."

I smiled broadly and happily shook hands with the owner of this chicken restaurant. “Thank you for hiring me here. I’ll do my best.”

She patted my shoulder. “You’re amazing. I’ve seen you on the Frost Maple team. Oh, before you think I’m a stalker, I’m also a fan of theirs. My favorite player is Grayson. So, have you worked there before?"

The smile I had been showing suddenly faded when Grayson’s team name was mentioned. Oh, I hope my new boss doesn’t know that I work there as Grayson’s therapist, or she’ll freak out.

“Or are you actually related to one of the players? You know, a rich kid who goes undercover and works at a small restaurant to learn how to do business."

I quickly shook my head. “No, no, I’m not a rich kid. I work here because I need to, as I explained earlier. And as for my presence with Frost Maple, that's my younger brother's favorite team," I explained.

My boss covered her mouth with both hands. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know it had anything to do with your brother. You must’ve been invited to get the players' autographs to give to your sick brother, right?"

Actually, that wasn't what I was thinking and was about to explain, but luckily she steered the conversation to that topic. Well, it was better to let her misunderstand than to clarify it to her and have her misunderstand even more.

I immediately put on a sad face. "You're right. That's one of his wishes. Once again, thank you, ma’am, for giving me this job."

"Oh, don't call me that. Just call me Ema. Okay?"

I smiled slightly. "Thanks, Ema."

Ema patted my shoulder once more and then picked up her bag. "Today's interview is over. I have to go. You can talk to Anton. Don't hesitate to bother him. As you know, this restaurant is a bit quiet."

I nodded. Meanwhile, Ema waved her hand and left.

After that, I shook my head. Honestly, I was grateful to have a boss as nice as Ema, but I was also worried because it turned out the restaurant that hired me was very deserted. Even in the two hours we talked, no one came to visit. I was worried that I wouldn't last long working here. Not because it was uncomfortable, but because of staff reductions due to low income.

"Hey, new kid."

I reflexively turned around. Behind the counter was a man about my height wearing an apron and holding a broom.

"Yes?"

"I'm Anton, your coworker."

"Ah, you're Anton." I stood up and approached him. "I'm Quinn."

I extended my hand, but he didn't take it, just looked at it.

"My hands are dirty. As you can see, I'm in the kitchen and also the janitor here. And yeah, you'll be doing the same thing as me. You'll be doing all the work here except serving customers on the days you're on duty. We're very short-staffed. That's the reason, if you want to know."

I grimaced at his long explanation. "Why don't I serve customers when I'm working?"

Anton sighed and waved his broom in the air. "While you've been here, have you seen any customers come in?"

I shook my head slowly. "Is it really that quiet every day?"

"That's right. There haven't been any customers for almost a year."

"What?"

I quickly covered my mouth with my hand. Honestly, I couldn't help my reaction when I heard that. That's extreme!

"But how can you survive? I mean, Ema said you've been working here for two years," I asked carefully.

He sighed again and leaned against the counter. "She’s a rich kid who doesn't know what to do with her money. Her parents are rich and she's rich too. And she wants to be the owner of a famous restaurant. And until now, she still believes she can make it happen."

I didn't know whether to call it luck or the opposite.

"You don't have to worry about it. Besides, it's her money. The important thing is that we get paid. Whether or not there are customers is not your fault. Do you understand?"

I nodded even though I didn't really agree with the phrase "the important thing is that we get paid." Because, after all, I still feel uncomfortable getting paid without working.

"If you feel guilty, just do whatever you want, like I'm doing now. Clean what's already clean. That's enough." Anton then walked back to the back.

Meanwhile, I was still speechless. I sat back down at one of the tables and bowed my head.

I think working here will be more difficult.

But I can't back out either. I've already signed the contract, and I don't want to be completely dependent on Grayson.

The salary offered here is decent. So I can save money.

Yeah, it's better than not working at all.

"Hey, your phone is ringing!"

I jumped in surprise at Anton's voice. But then I took my phone out of my bag.

Oh no, Grayson is calling me.

I haven't told him about this yet.
