Chapter 16

Surrender or die

Merfoy run towards the castle and saw the bloody floor, he was shocked to see Niffa stabbed in the stomach while Maru and Liana are cornered by numerous of Seres’ evil sorcerers.

“Merfoy! You have to save Niffa!” Maru shouted as he keeps on striking his white flame towards the enemies.

“Welcome back brother! I expect you to come,” Seres said as he push Niffa on on the floor.

“Shut up Seres! You better stop this! Or else I will do it myself!” Merfoy shouted as Niffa and Maru widened their eyes from what he just said. They knew that Merfoy is planning something that can kill Seres even if his life is at risk.

“I hate to say this but, I don’t want to die that means you won’t either,” Seres said.

“Seres why are you doing this?” Merfoy ask with his pity look.

“Well maybe my life is kind of boring so I need something fun to do,” Seres answered unbothered.

“Killing people is not fun Seres. If you will change and come back to me I will show you a real and peaceful kind of fun,” Merfoy said tyring to console his brother.

“No! That’s not going to happen, because this is me! The word peace is not in my vocabulary,” Seres said glaring on him.

“I won’t blame you for what happened in the past. I know it is our father’s fault why you become like this.”

“What? It’s not time for drama! Just flame up and try to defeat me! Such weaklings!” Seres shouts as he flamed up his body.

“Just say whatever you want to say. I don’t care anymore, I just want you to stop this now,” Merfoy said trying to get Seres’ attention while signalling Niffa to crawl slowly to get away from Seres.

“Me? Stop now? No way brother, just tell me if you want to surrender already and gave up Thamali to me, it’s just that simple,” Seres said as he smirk.

“I don’t have the right to give you Thamali. Maru owned this place,” Merfoy said while Seres chuckled.

“Niffa now!” Merfoy suddenly shouted as he quickly struck his white flame towards Seres as he gets paralyze instantly. Niffa jump behind Seres while locking her arms around Seres’ neck.

“You got me there brother,” Seres said struggling to speak as he tried to wiggle and push Niffa behind, but she was flaming in such radiant light and it is burning Seres’ skin.

“You can’t beat me!” Seres shouted as he try to find a way to escape. He grasp Niffa’s elbow and pulled her in front as tossed her in the dark corridor.

“Niffa! Damn it! Now it’s the brothers who are facing right now! ” Maru shouted.

“I hope Niffa is alright,” Liana said as they were still surrounded by the evil sorcerers.

“You are right Merfoy, I can beat the sun keeper that easily and now I will finally face you and beat you back!” Seres shouted as his husky voice echoed in the place.

“I don’t have the intention to fight you, but you’re the one who keeps on requesting it so maybe it’s time for us to have this battle.” Merfoy said as he flamed up his body in triple fire, he seemed sad and hesitant to fight his brother. He always wanted his brother to change.

“That’s the spirit!” Seres said as he smirk and get ready in his fighting position.

Niffa stands up catching her breath as the radiant light from her body was still flaming up. She caught a glimpse of a blue light on the other room. She quickly run towards that room as she saw Rico pinned in the wall by a red chain.

“Rico!” she shouted. Rico lift up his head to see Niffa running towards him.

“I knew you were alive!” she said as she hold the flaming red chain trying to untie him.

“You are shining.” Rico’s eyes sparkled from the light in Niffa’s body.

“Yes, I can finally control the sun.”

“Where are the others? Are they okay?” Rico asks.

“Maru and Liana are fighting evil sorcerers while Merfoy was fighting Seres we need to hurry up,” she said and burned the chain. Rico stands up when suddenly, Niffa cough aggressively as she spits blood.

“Niffa? Are you okay?” he asked then saw a bleeding wound on her stomach.

“I’m fine, I can still fight Seres back!” she said with a furious look from her radiant eyes. They should supposed to run outside the dark corridor but Rico suddenly fall on his knees while holding his head and groaning in pain.

“Rico?! Are you okay? Is it another memory from the past?” she ask as she kneeled in front of him lifting his face.

“No,” Rico responded as he opened his eyes. Niffa was shocked to see Rico’s eyes flamed red like Seres, she quickly move backward. Rico hold his head again as he wiggled unable to control his power.

“Rico? What’s going on?” she ask, then Rico’s eyes flamed in blue again.

“Niffa, I can’t move, seems like someone is controlling me!” he shouted as he keeps on holding his head and groaning in pain.

“Rico?” she gasp as she watch him in pity. She remembered what Merfoy told them that the green flame that her grandparents gave to Rico is a big help so that Seres won’t control him by his red flame.

“The green flame is gone?” she asked herself out of confusion. Rico stops groaning as he stands up like nothing happened, he suddenly opened his eyes and it was flaming in red as he smirk towards her. Niffa gulp staring at him knowing that the Rico infront of her turned into evil sorcerer. Rico approach her slowly and suddenly grasp neck as pinned her on the wall.

“I see, you can’t kill this body. I can tell it by just looking in your eyes,” Rico said while his eyes explore Niffa’s face. She knew that Rico wasn’t the one talking to her but Seres who is controlling him. Niffa flame up her body as Rico loosen his grasp as she fall on the ground holding her neck.

“Damn! I forgot Rico’s body cannot stand your green flame,” Rico said as he saw his palm burned a bit.

“Too bad, you let a small burn on Rico’s hand. I think you can do more than stinging this body,” he said and gave her another evil smirk.

“You bastard,” Niffa said with her furious face. She suddenly slap him in the face.

“Wake up! This is not you Rico! Wake up! That evil old man is controlling you!” She keeps on slapping Rico’s face sideways as it turned red. Rico quickly grasp her hand as his eyes turned into normal, he stared at her with a teary eyes.

“It’s me now it’s fine,” he said as Niffa stared deeper into his sad eyes making sure he’s not tricking her. She suddenly buried her face on his chest as tears fall from her eyes. Then in just a minute, Rico push her away on the floor, Niffa widened her eyes looking at his eyes that turned red once again.

“Fight me? Or I’ll kill your friends,” Rico said. Niffa was still shocked, She was confused trying not to let her guard down knowing that Seres was just outside the dark corridor fighting everyone. She ignored Rico as she run passing him, but Rico run behind her as he blocked her in front. Niffa widened her eyes as she step backwards, Rico suddenly strike his red flame towards her, she avoid it but she got a small burn on her shoulder. She glared towards Rico as she strike him back with her green flame. Rico avoid it, he create a sword out of his red flame waiting for Niffa to create hers. Niffa did the same as they sword fight. She think of a plan on how to escape. She manage to avoid Rico’s attack as she saw an opening, she run away from him speedily enough that Rico couldn’t catch and spot her. He couldn’t spot Niffa, only her green flame is seen in the dark. He was shocked to see Niffa jump so high above him ready to slit him from behind, he thought she was running away, he was fooled. The red flame in his eyes suddenly disappeared and turned normal. She quickly notice it, she landed on the ground as the sword hits the floor. She look at Rico who was confuse and sad.

“I’m sorry Niffa, I can’t control myself,” he said as he looked at his hands in devastation.

“It’s not your fault Rico,” Niffa said holding his cheek. Rico stared into her eyes as he wiggled once again. Niffa step back and grasp her sword once again.

“But Niffa, it’s really my intention to kill you,” Rico said as the sadness in his face change into an evil smirk. Niffa observe his eyes flamed red. This time, Rico use his teleportation, he went from behind and kick her back as Niffa flew hit the wall with such impact. Niffa stands up as she glared and wipe the blood on her mouth, she face Rico as she tripled her green flame.

“Why don’t you kill me now?” Rico said with an open arms while smiling.

“I wanted to kill you, but not in this body!” she said as she quickly attacks him cornering him by her sword. Rico spot her moves as he hit her stomach, Niffa groan in pain pressing her wounded stomach. Rico grab her neck as he tripled his red flame, he walk outside the corridor while holding Niffa’s neck lifting her. Maru, Liana and Merfoy were shocked to see Rico’s eyes flaming red, he tossed Niffa on the ground as she keeps on coughing. Her body was full of small burns and the wound on her shoulder and stomach keeps on bleeding.

“Rico?! What’s wrong with you?!” Maru shouted still fighting with the evil sorcerers, he finds a way to strike his white flame, and he hits Rico in the face. Rico wiggle his head as his eyes went back to normal once again, to his surprise he saw Niffa on the ground looking injured. Rico run towards her and lay her on his arms, she was catching her breathe and the green flame on her eyes disappeared.

“Niffa? I’m sorry. I’m trying to control myself but I can’t,” Rico said as tears fall from his eyes, Niffa smiled as she reach and hold his cheek wiping his tears.

“Good job Rico! Thanks to Niffa, she took back her grandparents’ green flame. Now, I can control you,” Seres said as he let out an evil laugh. Merfoy was shocked to hear it. Maru remembered the green spark from the last time.

“The green spark?” Maru ask himself as Liana just look at him confuse from what was happening.

“Niffa? Did you take it back without knowing?” Merfoy asked standing away from them whike facing his brother, but Niffa was too weak to respond.

“Stop this stupid game of yours Seres and just face me!” Rico said, his eyes flame in blue.

“Face you? Remember, I can still control you!” Seres shouted teasing him. Rico felt that strange feeling again as he wiggle his head trying not to get controlled by the red flame inside him. His eyes kept on switching from red to blue as he tried to fight it. Rico shouted as if he wanted to kill Seres right now. He layed Niffa on the floor and run towards Seres. Rico should supposed to punch Seres in the face with his clenched fist surrounded by blue flame but Seres controlled him once again. Rico’s eyes turned red as he stops in front of him, he then walk towards Niffa’s direction.

“No way Rico you can’t do this!” Maru shouted as he tried to see for an open space from the crowded sorcerers they are fighting, he strike his white flame once again and hits Rico’s cheek. Rico’s eyes turned blue again, he was furious from what was happening to him as he glared back at Seres.

“You little! I didn’t tell you to interfere!” Seres shouted towards Maru as he make the evil sorcerers increase in number.

“Liana let’s fight them all!” Maru shouted as he keeps on striking them while Liana is using the flaming sword to kill them.

Merfoy tried to strike Seres again but he strikes back. Rico run towards Seres for another attack but Seres punch him as he fling in the air and hit the ground. He didn’t give up, he stands up attack him once again. His eyes turned red again and run towards Niffa as he grasp Niffa her neck once again and lift her. Niffa was was too weak to move, she just stared on Rico’s eyes hoping they will turn back to normal on its own.

“Niffa!” Merfoy shouted, he triple up his white flamed and strike his brother harder, Seres was pushed unable to move by his brother’s flame.

“Rico, I understand it now, it’s me, I can get back and return the green flame. I think this is the first choice that Merfoy is talking about,” Niffa said with her weak and shaky voice. She tried to flame up her weakened body.

“All I have to do is to convince Seres to get back his red flame,” she said as she grasp Rico’s hand and burned it with her green flame, Rico groan in pain but he cannot loosen his grip.

“I’m so sorry Rico,” she uttered already whispering as she closed her teary eyes.

Merfoy suddenly shouted in pain as he was chained by Sere’s fire and pinned him on the wall, he was already wounded and bleeding. Maru and Liana was fighting for their life as the evil sorcerers around them keeps on increasing in number. Niffa opened her eyes, she saw Seres approaching them holding a knife ready to stab Rico from behind. She was too weak to shout or move from Rico’s grasp on her neck.
