Chapter 187: You Are Uglier Than the Pig I Raise at Home
The next day, Jeremy reassured Isabella to focus on her studies, promising to join her later and spend a couple of days together.
"Don't worry about it, Izzy. Just hit the books, and I'll catch up with you soon. We'll have some time to hang out," Jeremy said with a smile.
With Jeremy's promise, Isabella obediently went to school. As a college student, her coursework was quite demanding.
Meanwhile, Jeremy had a busy day ahead!
Susan operated behind the scenes, while Jeremy was the face of their operations.
Although Sunshine Group hadn't yet started any business on the Dawnwater Coast, it was an area they planned to expand into eventually.
Jeremy didn't intend to move the entire Sunshine Group from Sunrise; he had a better plan.
Dawnwater Coast was a place that StormDragon had always valued highly.
In fact, the groundwork laid there was more extensive than in other places.
"Maybe those small steps we took back then will pay off now," Jeremy thought to himself.
Of course, Jeremy couldn't afford to be careless. He needed to determine how many people would still be loyal to him.
Dawnwater Coast was vast, and in this place, having less than a billion dollars in assets was almost embarrassing.
Many families had assets worth hundreds of billions, even trillions, and numerous new industries were generating billions in revenue.
As the CEO of a group with three trillion dollars in assets, Jeremy planned to hire new staff.
This was why he hadn't brought people directly from Sunrise.
For a CEO to personally recruit staff was unheard of and would shock many.
With the Wilson family's business event still a few days away, Jeremy decided to hire an assistant to help prepare for Sunshine Group's expansion on the Dawnwater Coast.
Back in Sunrise, he rarely made public appearances, leaving the work to people like Jace.
Originally, Claire had planned to come along to help, but Jeremy refused. Having someone as stunning as Claire by his side would draw too much attention and raise suspicions about his identity.
Moreover, Claire's beauty was too eye-catching, and Jeremy didn't want to be constantly under scrutiny.
So, Jeremy decided to personally recruit staff on the Dawnwater Coast!
This was his first time doing so.
Jace helped post the job ad, but Jeremy would conduct the interviews himself.
No one would expect the CEO of Sunshine Group to personally conduct interviews!
The interviews were held at a hotel, but not in a suite—otherwise, who would dare to come?
Jeremy sat in the hotel's café, where the interviews took place.
The first candidate was dismissed after a single glance from Jeremy.
The second candidate was dismissed after Jeremy asked one question and observed their reaction.
The third, fourth...
One after another, none of the candidates were suitable. The most any of them managed was three sentences before being dismissed.
Those who failed the interview received a few hundred dollars in compensation from Jace.
It didn't seem like a formal interview process, and Jeremy suspected Jace might have done it on purpose, as all the candidates were beautiful women.
However, these women had various issues.
Jeremy judged people by their character and could even predict their fate. It wasn't enough for them to be pretty; nowadays, anyone could look attractive with a bit of effort.
These women might have been beautiful and well-educated, but their character was questionable.
Jeremy's table attracted a lot of attention as beautiful women came and went.
At a nearby table, two women were having coffee and noticed Jeremy's constant stream of female visitors.
One of them whispered, "Julie, what do you think that guy is doing? Speed dating?"
"He doesn't seem to be impressed by any of them, and he doesn't look very wealthy either. More like a pretty boy."
The woman called Julie glanced over and laughed, "Why are you worried about others? If we don't complete our task today, we'll be fired!"
These two women were indeed there for work, tasked with negotiating a deal.
They had been waiting for a long time without seeing their target. If they failed to secure the deal, they would be fired.
"I've been wanting to quit for a while. If it weren't for next month's rent, I'd have left already!"
Working in a place like Dawnwater Coast, their salaries barely covered rent and living expenses, let alone savings.
With poor performance, they even had to borrow money to get by.
The other woman continued, "Julie, isn't there a rich guy pursuing you? His family is loaded. You should just say yes!"
"Once you become a rich lady, you can take care of me. I'm tired of this exhausting job."
Julie, whose full name was Julie Lowe, rolled her eyes, "You have rich suitors too. Why don't you say yes to them?"
The other woman made a disgusted face, "They're all old men, either bald or with big bellies. They make me sick! Unlike your suitor, who's young, handsome, and rich."
Julie quickly said, "He's here!"
Both women tensed up as their target finally arrived.
They were waiting for a middle-aged man, bald and with a big belly—just like the type the other woman had described.
"Mr. Stewart! We..."
Julie stepped forward to introduce herself.
Ron Stewart's greedy eyes scanned her.
"I know, your boss already called me."
Ron reached out to grab Julie, but she skillfully dodged.
Ron’s eyes flashed with anger, "Your little company wants to work with us? What makes you think you have any leverage?"
Julie noticed Ron's displeasure but refused to back down.
"Mr. Stewart, a partnership should be mutually beneficial. Our company has shown plenty of good faith."
Ron sneered, "Good faith? Do you know why your boss sent you two to talk to me?"
"If you two are smart and cooperative, I'll give your company the project, and you'll earn a nice commission."
"Think it over. If you agree, come to my room. I'll be waiting."
Ron smirked, confident in his usual tactic.
Young women fresh out of college were the easiest to manipulate.
But this time, Ron miscalculated. As soon as he finished speaking, the other woman, who had a fiery temper, slapped him hard.
"Jerk! Look at yourself. You're uglier than the pigs on my family's farm!"
"Just because you're rich, you think you can take advantage of us? Get lost, you disgusting creep!"
