Chapter 111 CHAPTER 111
Chapter 111 CHAPTER 111
"Didn't I tell you? That human is a hard nut to crack," Adira laughed while getting a foot massage from a maid.
She just came back from the palace after secretly watching the drama between Doveris and Avara's supporters.
"She has all three Alphas wrapped around her finger like a witch," She groaned, kicking the maid in the face for accidentally pinching her.
"I'm sorry, Lady Adira," The maid pleaded, holding her face while bowing.
But Adira snapped and ordered, "GET OUT!!"
The scared maid ran out of the room, leaving Adira alone with Doveris.
The sorceress was standing before the window, looking at the palace from afar.
She was lost by what happened back there with Avara.
"That wind wasn't supposed to disperse. What happened back there?" She hummed, flashing to how Avara glared at her with rage when the darkness she used on her, vanished with force.
The pure anger she saw in that human's eyes... It reminded her of someone.
It reminded her of Aurora.
"If you hadn't made some touches to this necklace, that creepy human would have figured out that I am nothing but a fake," Adira said out with a sigh, taking off the stone to show off the new spell Doveris made on it.
Instead of her face switching to its original self immediately, it now takes up to ten minutes straight before her face changes.
"I knew she'd come back one day to get my necklace. That Avara has been eyeing it for long. During our fight, she almost dragged the stone from my neck. I was scared that she'd expose me in front of everyone. Luckily, those demon bats showed up and I was able to escape her," Adira added, standing before the mirror to admire her fake looks without the necklace.
"You saved me, Doveris. That's why you're the mother figure I need," She giggled, glancing at the sorceress who was still gazing at the palace.
Truly, Avara is hard to crack and Doveris got to see things with her own eyes.
Whenever she got Adira's letters about Avara, she always viewed it as a minor issue that can be handled with ease. But now that she has finally met Avara... "She appears clueless and dumb, but when she gets her mind into something, she's smart. Too smart," Doveris said to herself, tightening her hand on her staff, thinking about Avara.
As a werewolf and a sorceress, Doveris had gotten a good sniff of Avara's scent and confirmed she was indeed a human with Aurora's face.
But the way Avara acted made her question her own judgement.
"She's clearly a human but her behavior... Could she be a creature in disguise, using some kind of stronger power to hide her true self? No! That's like insulting my own powers!" She snarled, refusing to see herself as weak.
"That room, that dress... I know she was lying about missing her room or not seeing the gown I sent to her. That human felt the power and avoided it. She knew something was wrong and dodged my attack!" She groaned, recalling how Avara stared at her with a smile during the celebration that night.
Then the sudden Queen dominance she showed when she refused to allow Adira to go unpunished... "Nah, this girl is not normal," Doveris concluded strongly, suspecting Avara.
"Of course she's not normal. How can a human easily pull all three Alphas when I'm here?" Adira scoffed, still admiring herself in the mirror.
"Seriously, Doveris, I wished you were around when the quest was taking place. That girl slayed every task and made me a joke!" She said with annoyance, finally turning to face the sorceress.
"That plan at Night Howl pack was the perfect trick to get everyone to hate her, but she shocked me by recreating the cure, using human knowledge! Now she has a plant named after herself! And she even got marked by my Alphas," Adira cried, placing her hand on her chest like she has just be stabbed.
"The first task was supposed to be my victorious beginning. How was I supposed to know that Aurora doesn't cook the Alphas' favorite delicacy but something different?" She complained, telling Doveris about the first game.
Doveris listened and felt her forehead breaking into sweat, as she pictured Avara in her mind, placing Aurora next to her.
The difference was there. Aurora has a rare wolf fur that appears differently under the moon. At times she's white, then the next, her fur is black.
Her eyes are nothing like other werewolves.
Purple like Amethyst. Like she was kissed by the heavens and blessed specially to be different.
Indeed she was kissed by the Goddess, Diana. When she was born, her mother, the Luna of Crescent Moon back then, saw a beautiful angelic being with her child. And before she could approach it, she was gone.
Just like that, Aurora grew up to show immense and amazing werewolf abilities that brought pride to both her parents and to the werewolves.
Strength beyond imagination, strong wolf sense, speed, ability to feel stronger energies... She was really amazing and worth dying for.
She's her parents pride and joy. That's why she's the ruler of Crescent Moon Pack and many other werewolf lands. Her name alone plants fear into the hearts of other creatures.
She was just amazing and craved by many Kings far and near.
And Avara? She possesses nothing like that. She's just a human, yet her behavior reminds Doveris of Aurora.
The look in her eyes when her plan failed, took Doveris's mind back to the night Aurora vanished.
She was the last person with the Queen and no one, not even the Alphas, knew about this.
Doveris can still remember it like its yesterday. Aurora was mad at her for going against her.
"Why did you use it, Doveris?! Didn't I tell you to burn it?!" Aurora's voice rang in Doveris's mind, as she found herself back on that very night, staring down at her hands.
She went against Aurora and used a scroll that contained dark magic to enhance her own powers.
The scroll was from the Serpent kingdom. Aurora and Doveris had just ruined their plans to attack Crescent Moon, bringing the kingdom down.
When they killed the magic holder of the land, Doveris saw the sorcerer's scroll and got tempted to use it. But Aurora orders her to burn it up because the energy she felt from it was uncomfortable.
Doveris had promised to do as she ordered, but the curious sorceress disobeyed and hid the scroll from Aurora.
When she finally unlocked its powers and it entered her, Doveris fell in love with the enhancement she got.
She was still in her right senses, but her greed for power took over and she wanted more.
Doveris thought she could hide this new power for long, but Aurora's sharp sense picked it up and she confronted the sorceress.
"If the power was safe, I'd have given you the go ahead to use it. But it's not, Doveris! How could you betray me like this?" Doveris remembered the pain in Aurora's eyes, like she was about to cry for her.
The power wasn't good. It was filled with negativity and it was attracted to a negative heart, which was Doveris.
Aurora was pained because the sorceress's action proved there was evil in her heart. Still, Aurora wanted to help Doveris. She wanted to get her back on track.
But a greedy Doveris, who wanted to be way stronger than the Queen, refused the help, believing Aurora lacked understanding.
She revealed her true self to Aurora and showed her desire to overthrow her one day.
"Anywhere I go, I always hear your name. Aurora the great, Luna Aurora is so powerful, The Queen is amazing! I also want that attention. I want to surpass you," Doveris had said with a smile, flaunting her new power before the Luna.
This pained the Queen because in everything she did, she always made room for Doveris to shine.
It's thanks to Aurora everyone knows Doveris as a powerful sorceress, and this is how she wants to pay her?
Aurora was disappointed in Doveris. But the sorceress crossed the line when she planned to gain more powers and take over every creature, including the werewolves.
That's when Aurora snapped and decided to banish Doveris.
Raged by Aurora's decision, Doveris made the first strike, using her dark magic on the Queen. That pissed Aurora, who didn't just dodge the hit, but placed every love she had for Doveris to the side, and showed her why she's not to be messed with.
They got into a fight, and Aurora gave Doveris the beating of her life, terrifying the sorceress.
The sorceress ran like crazy straight into the woods, trying to get away from her. But the Queen was on her tail. She was bent on getting Doveris.
Just when she thought all hope was lost, Doveris unleashed one last power at Aurora, and right before her eyes, ashes appeared.
No body, no bones. Just ashes and pieces of the Queen's clothes at her feet.
Doveris was scared and feared she had killed the Luna. Even her energy couldn't be felt anywhere in the pack.
Doveris got rid of Aurora.
Afraid she'd be hated and lose everyone's love, Doveris didn't tell anyone what happened. She just joined the Alphas and every werewolves in searching for Aurora.
When they realized the Luna was gone, she started her so-called grievance journey, and left the pack.
Not to mourn Aurora, but to acquire more powers and overthrow other creatures, putting fear in their hearts.
She dominated different lands and took down their magic holders, acquiring their powers to increase her magical skills.
She didn't forget to stop at some werewolf packs to act as their savior and beloved great Sorceress. That's how she found Adira, a poor nobody and took an interest in her.
Adira and her mother were just poor werewolves struggling to survive. Even in their state, they were still a menace.
When Adira found favor with the sorceress, their lives changed.
Doveris gave Adira and her mother lots of money to become wealthy. But in exchange for this new life, Doveris told Adira to act like Aurora's lookalike and win the heart of the people.
She knows how much the werewolves love their missing Queen and how hard it would be to rule the land with both elders and Alphas still yearning for their Luna's return.
So with Adira looking like Aurora, she can win the Alphas' hearts and become the new Queen.
Then through Adira, she would take over the pack, easily entering other werewolf lands that believe Aurora is still alive.
The plan worked. Adira showed up, making everyone believe Aurora was back but can't remember who she was.
Only the Alphas knew she wasn't Aurora and gave her no attention.
That angered Doveris, but she believed they'd give in and accept her soon.
But all that plan failed when Avara came.
An error in Doveris's plan. She came and ruined it all, beating Adira to the throne.
Doveris didn't take the matter seriously and felt Adira was being childish. But now that she has met Avara, she can see that she is dealing with trouble in human clothing.
"It's a good thing you made everyone think that girl is a problem to us all. With a new quest, I'll be Luna!" Adira cheered, already celebrating in advance.
"But the Alphas... The quest would be nothing without them. They have refused to throw that human away. What are we going to do?" She whined, going up to Doveris for an answer.
The sorceress was lost in her thoughts but came to her senses when Adira patted her on the shoulder, repeating her question.
Still provoked by what she faced at the palace, the sorceress angrily gave Adira a backhand to the face, leaving her stunned.
Adira held her cheek, wondering what her crime was.
"Adira!" Her mother who saw this, rushed into the room to comfort her daughter.
Instead of accepting her mother's care, "Don't touch me!" Adira shoved her mother away, not caring if she got hurt.
"Doveris, what... What have I done? I was only asking a question," Adira cried, acting innocent before the sorceress.
"Do forgive me, mother. I'm sorry," She sniffed, lowering her head.
Doveris hummed at Adira's apology and said, taking her by the chin gently, "Don't cry, my child. I am just testing to see how strong you are."
Adira sniffed again, before letting out a smile.
Her mother stood there watching both of them sadly, before leaving the room, placing a hand on her chest.
She was hurt by her own daughter's hatred for her.
Doveris told Adira to prepare herself for something great ahead.
"Whether the Alphas like it or not, they will throw that girl out of this world very soon. And I have a very good plan in my mind."
"Really?" Adira smiled, curious to know what Doveris has in mind. But the sorceress doesn't tell her.
She only advised Adira to get ready for the quest, promising her that she'll be the Alphas' true mate once she's done with Avara.
"I'll be leaving now. I have something important to attend to," She said with a smile, patting Adira on the face.
Then she left with a smug look, seeing Avara as a weak human she can handle.
Heading to her main base —which is the magic holders' ground in the pack— Doveris stepped into her room—which was very large and spacious—and placed her staff at the center, as it stood on its own.
As she took two steps away from it, the crystal ball on the staff glowed, revealing the face of the Demon Bat King.
He looked grumpy and impatient, as she said to him with a smile, "I told you I'll reach out soon, Your Majesty."
The King groaned, unable to stand the sorceress.
She chuckled at his expression and said, "You really want to rule part of the werewolf lands, don't you? Then in that case, I need you to help me out with a tiny favor."
The King's brow arched, as Doveris tabled her request before him.
"I want you to attack Crescent Moon Pack, again," She said, smirking.
The King looked troubled when he heard that request. That's when Doveris assured him that she'll be by his side this time around.
"Your shaman failed you because he was weak. But with me by your side, you'll definitely win this time," She grinned, watching the Bat King ponder on this plan.
The demon bats were hard for Doveris to attack because of their shaman. But after Avara killed him, she used their lack of a magic holder to get to their King.
Her plan was to kill the King before, but to make sure Avara is ruined, she wants to use the bats for her own benefit.
"I get half of the werewolf lands, including Crescent Moon Pack. Do we have a deal?" The King spoke, making his demands.
With a fake smile, Doveris accepted, pleasing the Bat King.
"Just do what I want. Then I'll end you," she chuckled within.
