CHAPTER FORTY-TWO

DENISE'S POV

"Stop it Blanc, do hit him like that again," I said sternly, going to the ground to get Lionel up, he cleaned the blood at the corner of his lips and gave a mysterious laugh.

He didn't say anything, rather he gripped my hand and dragged me into his car.

"Stop that" I screamed as he dragged me to his car, I didn't know where I got the strength to push him to the ground roughly.

Why was he so rough and possessive? I ran towards Blanc who hugged me tightly. We entered inside the house leaving Lionel outside.

LIONEL'S POV

"Shit I messed up" I groaned as I repeatedly hit my head on the body of my car.

I can't believe I can get this close to where the Gem was and I blew the chance due to my insensitiveness.

Well, I might be her Mate but I'm not into her, she's too bossy for my liking. I despise the fact that a man would fight for her the way Blanc always does. He is obsessed with her and I pity him because he doesn't know the Value of the Gem.

I entered my car so I could Zoom off and summarize what just happened to my parents, they are going to have my head.

Audrey would have been the man for this Job, but he was too scared and chickened his way out of the Mission. My parents didn't bother to plead with him to join because he is a pain in the ass and would do nothing.

I won't lie though, I feel a soft spot around her sometimes but my mission first, I know Blanc had dropped his mission because he loved her but I believe he was a pussy and just chickened his way out of the situation.

I told Audrey to get close to Andi so he would make her say things about Blanc and probably say his weakness which will be good for me.

Although she had told us his mother had died, they still use her to blackmail him so he can get the Gem. Poor boy thinking his mum is alive and siding with the two strongest Hybrids will give him an edge in saving his dead mother.

I used my feet to press the accelerator, so I could increase my speed. My memory was still going back to the unfortunate event that happened at Denise's house. I repeatedly caused myself.

Or wait a moment, did she not like my display of Love the other day she came? I tried my best to control my thoughts that day, which is one of the most difficult things I have ever done before.

If she didn't find me funny that day, then she probably lacks good taste. It didn't take long before I got to my house due to how much I increased my speed.

I parked in my usual spot and stepped out of the car. I know that as I was entering the house, My parents were expecting good and exciting news but I was surely going to burst their bubbles.

I entered the living room, I quickly scanned the surroundings and firstly I saw my dad seated on his rocking chair, reading a newspaper, I didn't see my mum so I guessed she might be in the kitchen because the living room was filled with a pleasant aroma that was coming from the kitchen.

"He's here darling," My father said, still looking at his newspaper and pretending I was not standing there ever since. He raised his head for the first time since I entered and nodded, suggesting that I should sit. I walked into the living room fully and collapsed on the couch.

My dad didn't remove his eyes from the Newspaper he was reading till my Mum came in, and yes, my parents are still in the old days and they love reading newspapers, especially my dad. They don't even have a phone because they can't operate it.

"How did it go darling?" My mum asked, entering the living room with a tray consisting of two plates each. The aroma struck me deep and I know if my mouth mistakenly says the truth, I won't be getting a taste of this sumptuous meal.

My parents are very strict as well, they will punish you with food and won't give you money if you do not do their accord. That's what Audrey is suffering right now, he doesn't follow us anywhere. He is always left at home, during trips, vacations, you name it.

He was so drawn to himself and I couldn't see him like that as an elder brother. So I always divide my money into two unequal halves, giving him the smaller size.

"I got close to the Gem" I lied my parent's happiness was so high and I didn't want to ruin it.

With haste, my mum dropped the tray of spaghetti at the Dining table and called me to eat. She filled my plate with Spaghetti leaving me to salivate.

When she was done, she left me to eat. Without wasting much time, I dived into the food. It didn't take me long to finish eating. I stood up from the chair to leave, only for me to realize that my parents has been staring at me.

"What?" I asked, confused. They both sat on the couch that I had crashed on earlier, their stares caught me off balance.

"Tell us what the Gem looks like" my mum's calm voice came through.

It was then I knew I had fucked up, why did I lie? My mouth was sealed and there was no more lie forming in my head.

"Ummm" I managed to say but no reasonable words formed afterward.

"Tell us something now," my father said in his usual horse voice. I have been scared of my father since I was a child and his voice always sends chills around my body. It was obvious my father's patience was getting weak.

Suddenly the door opened revealing Audrey, "Are you seriously going to tell them about the Gem" he asked and I was speechless again. Was he trying to spice up this already awkward situation?

"Yes, they are my parents," I said, flowing with the plan. I didn't know what Audrey was cooking up, but I was sure he was trying to save me.

"Denise told you it was a secret, and that the Gem contains Witches, Sorceresses, you can name it, and if you look inside closely, you will see them chained to the walls' ' Audrey narrated, saving me from this situation.

I never knew the witches were chained, how did Audrey know that? Although I knew there were witches and Sorceresses inside, everyone knows that.

"How do you expect to believe that?" My mum asked, making both of us shiver.

Fuck!! she didn't believe the story, what am I going to do now?
