HAVING TWO MATES

CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

BLANC'S POV

I watched as my mum took her last breath. Her eyes closed slowly, tears ran down my eyes as I watched the maids drag my mother on the floor to a room.

Dracula felt unbothered, he sat on his throne watching the scene with amusement. I'm his eyes, anger rushed through my veins as I watched a smile creep to the corners of his lips.

I formed a fist ready to punch him, but then the realization that he came to see me came to me and I relaxed my fist.

"We are going to blackmail him, it seems like he isn't working hard enough, he needs to be fast and accurate" Dracula yelled to a female vampire whom I have never seen in this realm.

The girl's face was familiar and I tried my best to remember where I had seen this face until it came to my memory that she is one of the girls I met at school once or twice.

Well, he whispered some things into her ears when she reached where he was and she nodded slightly. I didn't hear what he said though but I knew it was about getting close to me.

I was determined to ignore this girl if she came to me and be too friendly at school. Minutes later, she left Dracula's presence.

As I was in my world of thoughts, felt a slight tap on my shoulder, turning around in response to the tap, my eyes met Lucas who had a faint smile at the corners of his lips. His face carried pity and was sad.

"Did you know she was going to die today?" I asked, looking at Dracula as helpless tears fell from my eyes. I tried my best to take the tears back but the pain I felt made the tears run down helplessly.

Lucas shook his head, making me nod in response. "She told me to bring you here," he said, surprising me.

I used my right hand to wipe the tears away from my face, and looked at Lucas, interested IN whatever he meant at that moment.

"What do you mean by that?" I asked confused and he just smiled.

She pointed his hands in a direction making me turn my head in an involuntary response to his hand's direction. He pointed to a block suitable and wide enough for us to sit on.

I knew he meant that we should sit but that wasn't what was in my head at that moment. I wanted to know what he meant when my mum told him to bring me here. Did he even know my mother?

"I do not want to seat Lucas, do you even know my mother?" I asked, ignoring his kind gesture for me to sit. He ignored my question and sat on the block.

He didn't say a word and I guessed he wanted me to sit or he wasn't going to say anything. With anger, I went to sit on the block so he could talk to me.

"Your mother was among the creators of the Gem" he blurted out and it was unbelievable to my ears.

At Least from what I remember, my mother told me that my father died while protecting the Gem and she was left to care for it alone but she never told me that she participated in the creation of the Gem.

"How do you know?" I asked, looking at me with interest in my eyes.

"I was among '' he started making me more surprised.

He was among them to trap his wife, the only one he ever loved. I did want to believe what he was saying but it seemed he was saying the truth. I signed heavily trying to arrange this newly found information.

"So what has that got to do with my mother telling you to bring me here?" I asked. Umu had been trying to draw a link to what he had said but none was forming so I had to ask.

"She doesn't want Dracula to own the Gem, he is disastrous," he said, picking some sticks from the floor and playing with it.

Is he trying to buy me again? But an instinct told me he was right based on what I heard my mum whisper, I have a feeling that she wants me to protect the Gem, based on what I heard her whisper. And if that was her last wish, I'll do everything in my power to avoid him getting the Gem.

"I'm always with you," I said and Lucas gave a genuine smile. I was very determined, and Dracula was never going to have power over me and the protection of the Gem is going to be my greatest priority even though it might cost my life.

Lucas, who had been reading my thoughts since smiled widely, that was certainly the first time I saw him smile.

We were silent for some time until I realized we were sitting on a block. I thought we were meant to pass through it, maybe Lucas had done some magic again. I hope to learn how he does most of his magic.

We sat in silence for hours until our bodies started glitching, I got scared thinking I was going to die. Yes, I said I was going to die protecting the Gem but I never meant for it to happen now.

Fear filled my eyes as I turned to Lucas. He didn't seem bothered about the whole glitching situation. "What's happening Lucas'' I screamed and he smiled.

He looked at me with amusement in his eyes, "Denise is looking for us already" he stated and fear gripped me immediately. She is going to know I was a bad person and tried to steal the Gem. I certainly don't want that to happen at least not now, watching my mum die was heartbreaking enough, I can't watch Denise turn her back away from me.

"What are you going to do? She's going to enter you and my room and find out that we aren't there. She's going to get really mad and suspicious besides she's already suspicious about us already" I said as we began to glitch at a fast pace now.

It didn't take time before I found myself and Lucas in front of Denise's house. The idea of how we got there escaped me immediately.

"Denise" Lucas yelled her name and soon she was outside already, looking at us with suspicion in her eyes.

"What the fuck happened, how did you two get here?" She questioned and Lucas and I looked at each other, searching for what to say or rather how to lie.

DENISE'S POV

I stared at them for answers and forgot how I was at school, I might miss classes today though.

"We need to talk," Lucas said and I saw Fear appear in Blanc's eyes in response to what he had heard Lucas say.

I knew they had been hiding something and I was excited to know that they had realized that I was harmless and part of their team as well.

I walked closer to them after closing the door behind me. "What do you want to talk to me about?" I asked, and they got the message that I wasn't going to allow them inside my house if they didn't tell me what they were hiding.

With a sign, Blanc started talking. I was surprised about his confession but I knew that something was wrong the first day I saw him, and the way he was friendly to me was getting scary.

The fact that he took the Gem and returned it softened my heart.

After he finished his confession, tears came down from his eyes and I didn't know when I went to hug him tightly. I felt bad for him after hearing about the death of his mother.

"Enough of this charade, okay, let's get to business," Lucas said, and we both nodded.

"First of all, Denise, you are a hybrid, just like I am," Lucas said. I wasn't really surprised because I was getting the signs that I was a vampire already.

"And I think Blanc and Lionel are both Your mates," Lucas said, he is fond of dropping surprising news without any emotions on his face.

So I have yow mate? I was surprised about the realization because the first time I saw Blanc, my inner wolf did shout mate but I fell in love with him immediately. And I still like him but I haven't accepted the fact I like him though, this isn't the right time for love.

"I'm shocked right now" I blurted out. I looked at Blanc to see if he was surprised and he was. He always thought his mate was Andi and I felt that Dracula has a hand in changing his mindset.

"Can we enter the house now, tired of standing," Blanc said, and he was trying to avoid my eyes as he spoke.

We were about to enter the house, and Lionel's car was parked in front of my house. He got out of the car and came towards me. He gave me a peak in my cheeks.

I felt uncomfortable, so I turned to his direction and I saw him sad and angry at the same time.

I didn't know when Blanc pushed Lionel to the ground and shouted, "I'm her mate as well, mind the way you do things"
