CHAPTER FORTY

BLANC'S POV

"Eat it Blanc, and your thoughts about this newly hatched plan will be sealed," Dracula said, laughing out loud again.

Without thinking, I threw the wall gecko into my mouth. For some weird reason, the creature tasted very good. I even leaked my lips after eating it.

As I chewed the creature, the body parts broke to pieces and the spicy and alluring taste melted into my tongue with urgency to grab that taste again, I chewed further and swallowed.

Since then, Lucas hasn't been able to read any of my thoughts concerning the plan but I do not know about Denise, she is very powerful.

The plan was going well, at least it lasted for almost a day without suspicion. But Lucas being as smart as he should be suspected of foul play.

When he asked me to leave Denise and stop talking to her, I knew he was up to something that wasn't good.

BACK TO PRESENT************************

"So you were thinking I wasn't going to find out huh?" He asked, laughing hard.

I knew he was going to find out though but not so soon, I heaved a sign ashamed of my inability to keep my mother safe. "Now that you know, why did you bring me here?" I asked, still watching my mum crawl.

"Your mother will still suffer even if you bring Dracula the Gem, he will surely kill you and your family knowing that you wanted to betray him," Lucas said.

Deep down in me, I knew Lucas was right, but I just wanted to keep my mother safe at least and my extended families are at risk as well.

Andi was the worst person to talk about right now, I know she has another hidden agenda about the Gem. She always keeps me in the middle of everything. First of all, she was unable to get the Gem and she told her father that it would be good if I get to be beside her in getting the Gem.

She hatched a plan and made me in the middle. I didn't know what to do any longer. Going with Lucas does not seem like a bad idea but my mother's life is at risk, it will be selfish to think about myself alone.

"Your mother wants you to keep the Gem safe as well," Lucas said, reading my thoughts.

I wasn't bothered about him reading my thoughts any longer, I just wanted to get a place to stand on, I have been at the edge since, I just want to be against or for Lucas and Denise.

"How do you even know that?" I asked, seeming uninterested, thinking he was trying to buy me. I watched as Dracula sipped the Blood from a golden cup. His wicked smile sent shivers to all the servants that were standing there.

"Silence and Listen to your mother very well," He said, and I obeyed.

It took me a while before I could hear her weak whispers. I strained my ears further before I could hear exactly what she was saying.

She kept on saying, "Blanc, Destroy the Gem it was the wish of the Sorceresses," she said it repeatedly as if she saw me looking at her from somewhere and was telling me.

I was shocked when she turned in my direction and gave a weak smile, tears filled my ears seeing my mother in such a terrible state, "I'll come back for you" I whispered with a cracked Voice, a voice filled with pain and sadness.

She kept on crawling non-stop and I didn't know what to do at that moment, so I decided to listen to her voice as it faded away and her eyes closed weakly.

DENISE POV

"Shit" I yelled when I checked the time. It was already past nine, my alarm didn't ring.

I jumped off the bed so that I could take a bath and get ready for school. I wondered if Blanc had overslept or if he is already in school, although Blanc was never going to leave without me.

The fact that Audrey didn't come to pick me up bothered me greatly. He never missed and all of a sudden, today he did come or even call to tell me he isn't coming to pick me up.

But Lucky for me, My mum left her keys at home. I haven't set my eyes on that woman since the day that Dracula who appeared in my dreams came to the house. I wasn't bothered about her, she was fond of following any man to their bedroom and leaving me alone.

I quickly stripped off my clothes and ran into the shower to get a cold bath. The water ran down my body, and the event of yesterday came running through my mind.

So, Lucas and Blanc hatched a plan, so that Blanc would stop talking to me. The plan was very scattered in my head, Lucas was going to explain everything to me when I get back from school.

The fact I can read minds was still making me surprised am I also a vampire? But I can't be two things at a time. For a moment, I hated the fact that my dad didn't tell me these things before kicking the bucket.

Today, I was determined to take that history book I was reading in the library some while ago, I'm going to read more about my family's history and also the reason I can read people's minds.

After taking that show, I left the bathroom to get dressed quickly. I wore my regular baggy shirts and jeans and combed my pink afro hair which was already Washing away.

I slipped into my pair of sneakers and threw my plain tote bag across my shoulders after putting the books I needed for school, I took steady steps while approaching Blanc's room. Hope he isn't still sleeping because it's time for school and I need a companion to go to school with since Audrey is getting distant from me.

After getting to the door of his room, I knocked at his door but there was no response so I began to knock non-stop till my hand arched.

"Arrggg" I groaned involuntarily, due to the arch in my hand. I stopped knocking and took a moment to nurture the hands because it was getting to give me pain even more.

"Blanc if you do not open this door, I'll be forced to push it open myself" I threatened but Blanc still didn't give me a response. I was getting angry and impatient I pushed the door open forcefully but found out that I couldn't come in.

"What's happening?" I asked myself as I tried my best to enter the room, an Instinct told me to wait until I get an invitation inside the room which was surprising to me.

"What had Blanc done again," I asked myself as I stood at the entrance of the door helpless.

"Blanc I know you might be in the bathroom but the truth is that I just want to see you, so we can go to school together, I don't know what you did but I'll advise you to undo it" I screamed looking towards the bathroom but he didn't even bother to respond.

I tried raising my legs to cross the invisible barrier making me unable to enter the room but I couldn't. My legs weren't leaving the ground, it was stuck to the ground against my wish.

It was then I remembered I have an inner wolf who knows the answers to almost all questions," Hey Ava, are you there" I asked in a whisper, I wasn't expecting to hear her voice again because I had kept her quiet for a really long time now, but regardless of that, she still answered me.

"Yes Denise, I am here" her voice resonated within me making my lips crack revealing a genuine smile.

"What's happening, I do not understand the kind of barrier that's in this place, do you know what's here and how I can cross it?" I asked the question with great speed.

I had already forgotten of my lateness to school, at the moment, I just wanted to know what was there and the reason I was blocked from entering into a room that resides within my house or rather my mother's house.

"I do not know Denise, But I do not think your body belongs to me alone," She said.

Her answer didn't bother me at first, I was only concerned about how I was going to destroy the invincible barrier that stopped me from entering the room. But wait, it was then my brain clicked, Did she just say my body belongs to someone else or I did not just hear what she said correctly?

"Ava comes again, what did you say?" I asked but because I could get a reply I heard my name from outside, the voice sounded like Lucas's voice.

I kept Ava silent and ran to open the entrance door revealing Lucas and Blanc.

But the scene wasn't encouraging at all, Blanc was looking devastated and his eyes were like he had been crying since, but the fact that Lucas was trying his best to cover up the awkwardness with a smile was making things get complicated.

"What the fuck happened, how did you two get here?" I questioned and the two of them looked at each other, searching for what to say or rather how to lie

"Why do I have two liars in my house" I whispered.
