Killian:
“Figures, you already found your match,” he added.
“And you didn’t sound troubled as I expected.”
Dad stood up as he put down his glass.
“Because I don’t want to trouble myself for a decade, over something that we can’t do anything about,” he smiled. “Relax. A decade is still a long way to be upset,” he tapped my shoulder and left.
I arched my eyebrow.
Seriously?
But come to think of it, he was right. I should stop thinking about it.
“I’ll cross the bridge when I get there,” I told myself and finished my glass.
Since a lot of work had been left pending, I better give my office a visit.
One week…
Two weeks…
A month…
And now, a year had passed but that lingering feeling of wanting to be with my mate was still there, haunting me.
I can’t take it anymore, so I decided to give Saskia a visit.
Saskia:
“To whom do I owe this visit, Your Highness?”
I was surprised to see the lycan Prince outside my house.
I couldn’t hear his thoughts since he blocked it against me. Unlike the last time I saw him, he looked a lot troubled and restless.
What must be the reason for his visit? I thought I made it clear to him that I need a decade not a year.
“You owe it to me,” he sarcastically answered.
The side of my lips twitched as I opened my door.
“Please come in, Your Highness. I hope you find yourself comfortable inside my humble house,” my words laced with sarcasm.
I knew how rich the royalties of lycans were. And it’s possible my house would never fit his taste for small talk. That’s why I decided to give him a heads up.
Luckily, he didn’t answer. He didn’t even waste a second to study the interior.
Though I am a bit disappointed. Maybe my house is small yet, it never lacks elegance.
After making himself comfortable on my couch, he started talking.
“Tell me, are you a seer too?”
I shook my head.
“No.”
What made him think I was?
“Then, how did you know I would not be able to kill my mate?” He finally went straight to the point.
So, this is the reason why he was here. He was bothered by what I told him? But when I told him that, I wasn’t lying.
Seeing him that night, I already knew he wouldn’t be able to kill Laura.
“Would you like a drink? Coffee? Tea?”
Instead of answering his question, I decided to offer hospitality. Well, that was all I could offer aside from water.
I walked towards my small kitchen to find a drink. I could still see him from here. Prince Killian was silent for a while. He seemed to be contemplating whether he would accept my hospitality or not.
What? Did he think I was going to poison him?
Duh?
I rolled my eyes at the ceiling.
“Your mate used to come here and drink my tea. It helped her relax whenever she was restless or feeling troubled,” I don’t know why I am telling this to him but I still do.
Maybe because I don’t want to be on the wrong foot with him.
Though I am an immortal and never feared death, I still don’t want to create an enemy—a powerful enemy for that matter.
Yet, I also want to show him that I am not afraid even if we happened to become enemies.
“She did?” He mindlessly asked.
It’s as if he was asking himself, not me.
I once saw the Lycan Prince before the event of Laura’s death. And I am certain, he is far the same Lycan Prince I saw before, anymore. He was the type who was cold-hearted and did everything he wanted. He was incredibly full of himself and didn't settle for any woman, nor invest a feeling in any woman. He considered women were just there to satisfy his feral needs.
But now, the Lycan Prince I am seeing is the one who seemed to be near breaking down if he hadn’t seen his mate for the next couple of minutes. And I didn’t think it was because of his goal of killing her. His wolf must be aching to be with his mate.
I sighed and answered him. “Yes. Would you like to know what was her taste in foods and drinks?”
“Well,”
Even though he didn’t voice it out, I knew he did. He was just too cool to accept that his visit is to know more about his mate.
I couldn’t help but break my lips into a thin smile.
Still too proud, huh?
I decided to make him the tea that I used to give Laura. When I came back, Prince Killian’s eyes were glued to the teacup. It was as if he could not wait to taste it.
I suppress a chuckle. Seeing a fully grown man, sitting on my couch and excited for a cup of tea was really something. But come to think of it, the Lycan Prince was incredibly handsome. I wasn’t surprised to see how Laura was stunned in her last breath.
Girl, I bet you regret killing yourself.
I secretly sighed.
Upon remembering Laura, I suddenly missed her.
Sofia of the Remus Pack is a nice person also. I am certain she will become a great Luna of her generation. And we were friends too. But my relationship with Laura was different. It was something that no one can replace.
“Can I have my tea?” The lycan Prince’s voice suddenly interrupted my thoughts.
Geez! I am thinking way too far again.
“Sure,” I put down his cup in front of him.
And just as it landed at the center table, Prince Killian took it. He started smelling the aroma and I guess, it quickly relaxed him.
I could not help but smile. The way he savored the aroma was just the exact way Laura did.
Or it's just because I missed Laura very much.
Ugh! How could I forget? He will probably nag me about the time traveling matters again, because certainly he was so damn missing his mate.
But I already told him I can't do anything for him now. Why was he being so difficult?
Geez! I was so fed up. I should think of a way to divert him.
