Chapter 43 – Hostage Crisis!

Iris couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She, along with Lilly and other people were inside a fast moving truck.

Earlier, she and Lilly were just quietly enjoying their lunch when several masked men with guns suddenly arrived and ordered everyone to follow them. Unfortunately, everyone in the restaurant seemed to be taken as hostages by the armed men. All of their belongings were taken and they were shoved inside a truck which has been moving for a couple of minutes.

Iris and the others didn’t know what was happening outside and if the authorities were already informed and were in the process of saving them.

Iris thought of the wedding ring that she just bought for Elliot and felt tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

Suddenly, a soft hand gently held hers. “Don’t be afraid. We will be alright.”

Lilly comforted Iris as she looked around the truck filled with panicking and crying people. Immediately, she summoned the wind to breeze on the humans, making them feel relaxed.

In truth, Lilly could have easily disarmed the masked men and prevented this hostage crisis. However, so many innocent human eyes are watching and she couldn’t use her powers. Thus, she could just allow them to take everyone as hostages while ensuring everyone’s safety. However, she would never allow Iris’ safety to be compromised. Lilly was decided that if ever Iris’ life is threatened, then she would immediately use her powers to save her.

Iris stared at the calm Lilly who looked younger than her and her heart felt a sting. She held Lilly’s hand as she told her, “Yes. You shouldn’t also be scared.”

Suddenly, Iris surreptitiously took off one of her earrings and secretly threw it outside. Then, she gripped Lilly’s hand as she whispered to her, “I will protect you. Later, if there is a chance, I will find a way to help you escape."

Lilly’s eyes widened as she looked at the determined Iris.

“If we are successful, please help me contact my hubby.” Iris quietly said as she glimpse at the ring on her finger.

“My hubby is… quite special. I believe that he will save us soon.” She softly whispered.

Elliot watched as the building in front of him collapsed from fire. For hours now, he was running around and tracking the bases of the Brotherhood of the Unseen. The building in front of his was the fifth case that he tracked.

As for the human members of the brotherhood, they were on the ground either knocked out or trembling from fear. Just now, they saw how the werewolves were suddenly simultaneously engulfed with fire and dropped death.

“Boss, I tied the humans and contacted the human authorities.” Sean said as he returned to Elliot’s side. It can be said that Sean is Elliot’s secretary through and through. He helped Elliot managed his conglomerate during the normal days and he assisted him in doing menial jobs like tying up the prisoners or cleaning up the mess during times like this.

Of course, Sean himself was also a very powerful warrior. However, Elliot had the power to track down, attack, and take down the bases alone so he just needed to help him tying up the loose ends.

Elliot was expressionless as the fire was reflected on his face, making him look like a real demon lord. Sean gulped but stayed quiet on his side.

Suddenly, Elliot received a mind link which made his already terrifying aura to multiply.

*My dear, the Brotherhood launched an attack in the city. Iris and I were taken in as hostages*. Lilly’s gentle voice sounded in his mind.

*I cannot use my power since they have taken many innocent humans with us. I already contacted Sebastian our location so he can help in hypnotizing the humans. The Brotherhood is composed of humans and rogues. They put silver in the trucks that they used for taking in hostages so ordinary wolves won’t be able to go near.* Lilly added.

*How is she?* Elliot asked with urgency.

*She is doing great.* Lilly answered. *She is a very good girl.* She added.

Elliot felt relieved with Lilly’s answer. He knew that Iris would never suffer with Lilly around. Still, his heart clenched when he thought that Iris must have been scared because of what was happening.

*I will head over there now. Mother… please take care of Iris.* Elliot’s heart hurt as he asked his mother.

*Don’t worry, my son.* Lilly reassured him.

When the mind link was cut off, a terrifying power suddenly burst out of Elliot’s body and the building which was burning, along with its surrounding places, instantly turned into dust. Sean felt his spine turned cold as he watched Elliot’s body transformed into a huge black wolf with dazzling emerald eyes.

*Take care of this. I have to go.* Sean heard a voice in his head before the wolf in front of him suddenly vanished without a trace.
