Taking a deep breath, I opened my mouth to explain what was going on. I snapped it shut back when I notice Heather's mate was staring at me over his shoulder, Kayden must have noticed how tensed I was because he followed the direction of my gaze. He turn away immediately he saw that he was drawing Kayden's attention to himself. I felt sick! Being the same room with them make me want to crawl out my own eyes.
"Come with me" He instructed standing up, I followed him out of the ballroom and to a private room I didn't know was there until now. Once the door was shut behind us, I suddenly became scared not because I was afraid of him but because I was scared like all those people, he wouldn't believe or trust me.
"I'm waiting for you to speak" He growled softly making me jump a little.
"Heather was the one who slash my face, everyone thought I did it myself that night at the basement but I didn't. I swear, the reason I had gotten into that mess in the first place was because Heather mate, he was one of the guards. He tried to force himself on me" I stopped seeing the stunned expression on his face. "The councils thought I had seduce him and made him reflowed me in order to stop them from sending me to you" I quickly finished waiting for his reaction.
The silence between us stretch for another couple of minutes before he finally let out a sighs and then went to open the door not commenting on what I just told him. I immediately made to turn away once we were back in the ball room but he held me back.
"You may leave the party" He said before I can even thank him, he already left. I didn't want his pity but since he already grant me the permission to leave I did exactly that.
On my way out I paused knowing Rebekah would have wanted me to inform her, a few minutes later I catch sight up her on the dance floor with Darren, a smile on her face as she danced away with her mate not caring the looks people were giving her. Smiling a little to myself, I head back to my room.
I went straight to the place I had hide the contract between the councils and I, picking it up. I picked up a lighter from my dressing mirror having no idea how it got there. I set the paper on fire and watch as it burned slowly.
A knock sounded on my door, thinking it was Rebekah I hurried over to open it. "You should have stayed behind and dance more with him...." I was saying but stopped when the person turned out to be Heather. My hand froze at the door handle, ignoring my stunned expression she shove me aside and then stepped into my room.
"You were saying?" She chuckled. "You can close the door and stop acting like I'm here to murder you. I'm not, you are mated to the most powerful Alpha, I cannot do that"
I still didn't move. Gathering my shattered courage, I tried to put on a brave face. "What do you want?" I hissed still holding on to the door handle in case I needed to run. She was far stronger and more experience than me. I'd be a fool to think I can take her.
"How did an ugly slave like you get mated to an Alpha. I mean, I made sure you are never desirable to anyone after daggering your face. That is something I want to know" She asked not bothering to hide her curiosity.
"Shocker right? Even with your undaggered face, your mate still didn't find you desirable, isn't that why you daggered an innocent poor girl who was almost raped by your mate? Giving her a scar to not only make her ugly but make a weaker" Ignoring the angry snarl coming from her, I continued. "Let me guess, are you still being intimidated by other girls? How many of them have you daggered so far?" I demanded glaring at her.
"Wow! You have really managed to gather the nerve to talk back at me? You think I didn't see how scared you were when you saw me? Do you think being mated to Alpha Kayden change the fact that you are ugly, weak, wimpy and undesirable to him? I do not know what might have possessed him to claim you but that shall wear off sooner than you realize" She fired back at me.
"Jealous much? You should be, you are mated to a slave security guard who doesn't even fancy you" The moment she raised her hand to slap me, I caught it before dropping it. "Don't ever think of hurting me again. I won't let you" I growled at her.
"What is going on here?" Scarlet interrupted looking between me and Heather for some explanation.
"You are free!" I cried forgetting about Heather for the moment.
"Alpha gave the order for me to be free, they are still searching for who the real culprit is. With that being said, who is this? She looks strangely familiar" Scarlet frowned trying to make out where she had seen her face.
"Probably at the councils meeting, they have the knife she used to dagger me that night. Look Heather, I hate you with every cell in my body and I really hope you will never be happy, I wish you to be nothing but more miserable than you have made me. I suggest you leave now before I change my mind and tell Kayden what you and your shameless mate did to me" I threatened satisfied when I saw the fear in her eyes at the mention of Kayden's name.
Without another word, she spun around and hurriedly scurried out of the room. Once she was gone, I felt so proud of myself, the fact that I managed to stood up to her. I dried the unshed tears in my eyes and was surprise when Scarlet pulled me into a hug.
"I'm proud of you even if I don't know what she did to you. That was brave" She commented before sighing the paper I had burned. "You burnt the council's contract? Why?"
"Because I don't need it. If I want to have my freedom that is no way to go about it. Plus I can't really kill Alpha Kayden now can I? He is my mate" I chuckled at that.
"He isn't. You are his mate but he is not your mate until you claim him. You should do that. This doesn't happen to just anyone, I think everything is fated to go like this. I will also burn my own contract. He might not be your ideal mate but you can try and find happiness with him, you can do it. You are a very strong girl" Her words touched me deeply and I burst into tears, this time I was the one who hugged her.
"Well look at that, you've never hugged me before" Rebekah said a little jealous. "What was I here for anyway? Alpha Kayden has sentence Heather and her mate to death by torture" She informed me coursing my eyes to widened in shock.
