Chapter 45 Strange behavior
Isabella did exactly as she was told, Alex appearing right beside them.
They entered the room, Alex following closely with a glass of water.
“Thank you sir!”, Isabella said as she was dropped to her feet.
Taking a step towards her bed, Isabella almost fell face first if it wasn't for Luciano.
Shaking his head, Luciano picked her up again, dropping her on the side of the bed where she was walking towards.
He left the room quietly, closing the door behind him.
Isabella took the glass of water Alex passed to her as she took slow gulps.
A result of her throat burning to the amount of shouting and swallowing she had been doing in the lake.
Her life literally flashed before her eyes as she remembered how cold the Lake suddenly became.
‘This has to go down the books of all the times I almost died while I worked as a guarantee!’, Isabella thought.
“Are you okay Isabella?!”, Alex asked as she passed the extra towel she had brought to Isabella.
“Yes, yes I am!”, Isabella said, her voice hoarse as a result of her throat pain.
“You look pale!”, Alex said as she brought her hand to Isabella’s forehead.
“You need warmth!”, Alex said as she headed towards the window to close it.
Isabella wondered if she had done something wrong the way Luciano dropped her and left the room.
“Yes!”, Isabella agreed as Alex closed the window.
“Are you hungry!? Do you want anything to eat?!”, Alex asked.
“Yes, a little bit at least! I want to change out of these clothes!”, Isabella answered, Alex realizing she still had her wet clothes on.
“Ohh okay! Do you need help changing!?!”, Alex asked.
“No, not at all, I can handle myself!, Isabella answered, Alex cocking her head to the side.
“I meannn you almost tripped like ten seconds before!”, Alex said.
“I'm aware Alex, I'll be fine!”, Isabella answered.
“You sure??”, Alex asked, already having conflicting thoughts whether or not to continue with the intended plan.
“Yes, I'll be fine!”, Isabella said.
“Alright then! I'll go bring you something to munch on!”, Alex said as she left the room.
Closing the door behind her, Luciano turned to see Luciano.
“Oh my God!”, she said as she jumped.
“Come with me!”, Luciano said as he headed towards the room down the hall.
“Close the door behind you!”, Luciano said.
“Don, I actually intended to talk to you…!”, Alex started as Luciano sat by the table in the room.
“I know! Abort mission!”, Luciano said.
“Ohhh!”, Alex said, quite taken aback by how fast The Don read the situation.
“We'll be leaving in a few days!”, Luciano said, surprising Alex.
“You may leave now!”, Luciano finished.
Alex left the room shortly after, leaving Luciano to his thoughts and heading to the kitchen to get Isabella something to eat.
Alex looked friendly, charming and cute if you came across her having no prior idea of what she did.
But she was one of Luciano's special agents. She looked like she wouldn't hurt a fly, but she could infiltrate an operation, crashing it from inside out because she played her cards right.
She had been brought in to serve as an “estate manager” in one of the lake houses, in other words; to serve as security.
She doubled as a housekeeper and security! All in one.
Alex could really be impressive in her feat.
She had originally been briefed by Luciano on how she would warm up to Isabella and promise her a way of escape, only to pull the rugs from under her legs when she least expected.
However, no one had any clue that Isabella couldn't swim. Thus, they couldn't predict that Isabella would almost drown because of a simple mistake by the lake.
It just didn't sit well with her or Luciano to put her through something like that after she almost died.
Being the only time she got a guilty conscience, Alex made sure she set up a treat for Isabella, carrying it up to her room with the drugs she was to use for her throat.

Luciano who was heading down the stairs caught a glimpse of Isabella's hair down as well as the sight of her bare shoulders.
He had never seen her in such a light.
But, said amusement resurfaced as he wondered what else he didn't know about the lady.
Shaking his head, his green eyes turned from the direction of her closed door to the stairs.
Andreas remained seated in the living room as he explained a fake scenario to one of the guests Luciano should have ushered by the lake.
“...alright sir! Thank you for your time and your understanding!”
“Very well! You too!”, Andreas said as he concluded the call.
“What's the status!?!”, Luciano asked as he took a seat.
He had already changed into a jogger with his chest bare. His tattoos were on display as his taut muscles moved with every turn he made.
“I've uninvited them all!”, Andreas replied.
“okay! And how about the ambulance!?!”, Luciano asked.
“They already left!”, Andreas answered.
“Okay then. We'll be leaving in a few days!”, Luciano announced.
Simply acknowledging by nodding his head, Andreas fought the urge to ask Luciano why he just loved to torment the girl.
However, for someone that had lived with him for over twenty years, Lucinao knew there was something Andreas wasn't telling him.
“Spill it!”, Luciano ordered.
Already having an inkling that Luciano might ask him a question, Andreas quickly came up with something.
“You have an invitation!”
“For what?!”, Luciano asked, grabbing the tablet to see the virtual invitation.
“A gala!”, Andreas replied as Luciano read the contents of the invitation.
It was an invitation to a gala after all, but he didn't feel like going.
“What's the chance we still get the deal if I don't go to this gala?!”, Luciano asked.
“Twenty percent!”, Andreas replied flatly.
“I need a tux!”, Luciano simply said as he sighed.
Standing up, he headed towards the wine cellar which was by the side of the lake house.
“I'll be back in an hour!”, Luciano said as he left the main house, the hoodie he had brought down the stairs in hand.
