Chapter Eighty-Nine

"Damien, have you been sitting there all night?" I asked, sitting up in the hospital bed, peering curiously as the man sitting next to me. He hadn't moved from where he was when I fell asleep, sitting on the bed with the babies who lay next to him, bundled in their cute little pink and blue blankets.

"Not all night, no. I got you coffee." He said with a smile, not looking up from the babies who were soundly asleep.

"Oh my god, I missed coffee so much!" I exclaimed as I took a sip of the coffee, then sat in his lap and caressed Ciarans cheek softly, still not believing that Damien and I made these two beautiful babies. "I'm so happy that I was able to give you children. You are meant to be a father, and I'm sorry it took over 250 years to have some."

"For something I accepted that I would never have, I'm ecstatic. I'm glad I didn't have children before, as I feel it may have lessened my pride and happiness during this moment. I love you, Bastet." He said with a soft chuckle before leaning forward to kiss me softly. Our kiss was cut short as Ciaran started to stir and fuss, wigging back and forth, as if he was purposely trying to wake up Azeneth. *'What, you think because you're awake that your sister needs to be awake too?'*

"The way you've been guarding the babies, I'm starting to think I gave birth to the two people you love more than me." I joked before grabbing my coffee again, then standing and crossing to the other side of the bed. I finished my coffee and threw the cup away before picking up Ciaran, and holding him as he latched on, and began drinking immediately.

"My God, man. You don't need to chug! Your mother isn't starving you!"

"Damien, he's a baby. And he's not chugging; he's just drinking." I giggled as I sat down on the bed, rubbing Ciaran's head softly, watching him as he drank. "Also, don't call our baby boy a man, it's weird."

"How so?"

"I don't know Damien, maybe because he was born yesterday?"

"If that is your argument, I am still not seeing the issue?" He said, a small smile peeking at the corner of his lip as he raised an eyebrow, waiting for my response. *'Why does he have to be so gorgeous when I am trying to act like I'm upset with him?'*

Before I could respond, Azeneth began waking and crying softly, bringing my attention back to Ciaran, who was still drinking happily, undisturbed by his sister crying. "Damien, can you-" I started to ask him to help me, but he'd already picked up Azeneth and began rocking her, using his free hand to give me the pump I hadn't noticed sitting there before. "When did this get here?" I asked as I attached the pump to my free nipple, making sure it wouldn't affect Ciaran at all.

"I told you I wasn't sitting here all night. I went and got the things we needed for the additions to our family, seeing as how we didn't buy it previously." He said, smiling down at the baby as he swayed from side to side softly, quickly muting her cries.

*'Somehow I know that he spent thousands of dollars getting baby things, so I'm not going to bother asking. I don't know why it surprises me anymore. He spends a lot of money, as it's not like he has any shortage of it. Wait a second...'* "Damien?"

"Yes, my love?"

"How do you still have a bottomless pit of money, and you haven't been to court in a long time or taken on any new cases?" I asked curiously, setting the baby down as he finally finished drinking, and was falling back to sleep.

"I own the company, my love. I haven't needed to work for centuries, if you're curious, but I did so to give myself something to do, until I met you, that is." He responded after setting Azeneth in my arms, chuckling as she happily latched on and began drinking.

"I guess I did know that just didn't think about it," I responded as I looked up to the doorway, where Sinclair was beginning to knock.

"Good morning, the doctors said after little Bastet's checkup that she can go home if you're ready." He said softly, looking up at the ceiling as if seeing the baby on my nipple would be too much for him to handle. *'Sometimes it's hard to believe you are the same man who toyed with my emotions to make me think I had feelings for you. Though, you've learned a lot since then, which I supposed could be attributed to that growth.'*

"Very well, thank you, Sinclair," Damien said with a nod, then picked up Ciaran, and walked to Sinclair, trying to let Sinclair hold the baby, but Sinclair shook his head and took a few steps back.

"I could hurt him, and I could never live with myself if I did such a thing. No." He said, shaking his head vigorously, his golden eyes wide in fear. *'Huh, so Sinclair does fear something. I didn't think that was possible.'*

"Stop it, recreant. I thought the same thing yesterday when it came time to hold my daughter, and you wouldn't allow me. You never got to meet your son, and you are the reason my son is possible. Do not be rude." Damien said, growling lowly, waiting for him to hold his arms out.

Sinclair nodded and let Damien put the baby in his arms, then looked down into Ciaran's face, his eyes going soft as the baby wiggled slightly, fussing as he didn't seem to happy that he was being moved back and forth. But after a moment of fussing, he relaxed in Sinclair's arms and went back to sleep.

"Hello, Ciaran, welcome to the world, little one," Sinclair said softly, as he sat down on the chair by the door, his eyes inspecting every inch of the babies' face like he didn't believe he was real.

Damien smiled and turned his attention back to me, smiling down at Azeneth as she'd finished eating and had fallen back asleep, her features relaxed and gentle. I put her in his arms as softly as I could, then disconnected the pump, and went into the bathroom to take a much-needed shower.

"Bast, is there anything I need to get before we take the babies home?" Damien asked me, rapping softly at the bathroom door.

"I don't think so. You said you got all of the baby stuff last night, right?"

"I believe I got everything, but I just want to make sure."

I giggled when he said this, shaking my head in amusement. *'The big bad king of vampires has been reduced to a worried wreck, as if a vampire can forget anything.'* "Babe, you're fine. I'm pretty sure that whatever you got is good."

"Alright. I'm going to get the paperwork done. Take as long as you need."

*'I love that man,'* I thought as I sighed in content as the hot water washed over me, but found I couldn't stand there too long, as I almost immedietly started missing my babies. *'Bast, it's been five minutes. Damien and Sinclair are watching over the babies, you can relax for a minute!'* I told myself, but to no avail as I quickly washed and got dressed in the pair of clothes Damien set on the counter for me. *'When did he put those there? Hmm. It must have been last night.'*

"I expected you would want to relax, and not rush immedietly out of the shower." Damien said as I came out of the bathroom, raising an eyebrow in confusion when he saw me.

"I tried, but I started missing my babies." I responded honestly as I stood next to Sinclair, smiling down at my perfect baby boy in his arms.

"You can take him, I don't think he'd mind." Sinclair offered as he started to stand, but stopped when I put my hand on his shoulder, shaking my head no.

"Oh, you got car seats, right?" I gasped, turning to look at Damien.

"Of course. Top of the line, and four extras." He said with a nod as he carefully dressed Azeneth in a cute little pink onsie.

"Six car seats, Damien? Six?" I gasped out, widening my eyes in shock, shaking my head in disbelief.
