Chapter Eighty-Seven

***Notice about the event at the end of this chapter!***

"Those threats seem entirely implausible," Sinclair mumbled from the orb. I could tell he didn't believe her, which didn't see the best course of action in his current situation, but he didn't seem to mind all too much about the imminent danger. *'There's no way Octavia would do it though, right?'* I thought as I looked at Octavia's face, trying to gauge her thoughts. Her aquamarine eyes were steely and unwavering, her lips pursed as she glared. *'She is not kidding, but that's her lune! Wow, she's scary.'*

"Damage another blade of grass, and I'll kill you both!" Octavia said as the orbs came crumbling down, leaving Kerr and Sinclair standing there, waiting for what she would do next.

"Remind me not to piss Bast off when she learns how to control her abilities," Sam said, making me giggle softly, then realizing I shouldn't have been able to hear that. *'Why is my hearing so strong? It's weird.'*

"Bast, are you alright? You look a little pale." Damien said as he wrapped his arms around my waist, turning me, so I was facing him. His electric blue orbs were looking down into mine, his eyes filled with worry.

"I'm okay, babe," I lied, standing on the tips of my toes to kiss him softly, before turning my attention back to Octavia. "You never said how you did this."

"Well, I used all four of my elements, which is how I practice and let off steam. Keeping that sun burning all the time helps too. It would be best if you could make a room like this, or had an enclosed space to practice. Damien, is there a room in your house that Bast could have specifically for this?"

"Yes, there is another room in the basement that Bast could use for something like this," Damien said with a nod, then raised his eyebrow when he looked down at me and saw the confusion on my face. "You still have yet to explore the entire house, my love. There are rooms there that you haven't seen." He said with a soft chuckle.

"You guys can chill out and do whatever you want, but Bast and I need to get to training," Octavia said, waving her hand at him dismissingly. I followed her lead as she sat on the grass, just in front of the riverbank. "Okay, channel the wind. But rather than channeling it through your body, channel it in the air around you. Try to make a slight breeze. I would say take it slow, but you learn incredibly fast." She said with a soft chuckle, then leaned back to watch me.

*'Okay, channel the air, kind of like what she did earlier to Sinclair. I still can't believe she did that! She just waved her hand, and Sinclair went fly-'* Before I could finish my thought, it got cut off as Sinclair yelled, just before being thrown into the river. "Did he jump in?" I asked curiously, looking at the group who were bent over in laughter.

"No!" Kerr yelled, falling to his knees as he held his stomach, gasping from pain, but unable to stop laughing.

"You did that?" Sinclair bellowed as he jumped out of the river and back onto the grass. He mumbled in a language that I couldn't understand as he walked to the wall by the entrance, grabbing a towel off of the shelf. "Consider yourself lucky that I owe you my life, little Bastet. Otherwise, I might have the temptation to seek vengeance for that." He grumbled unhappily, drying off his short brown hair as he glared at me. He looked down at his soaked shirt and growled, then took it off and threw it into the laundry bin that was set next to the shelf.

I couldn't help blinking a few times, as this was the first time I'd seen Sinclair shirtless. *'It's the first time I've seen Sinclair shirtless? Wow, that's weird. But also, he's got an amazing physique! Damien and Sam have six-packs, but Sinclair has an eight pack? I didn't know that was possible! How has he managed to hide a body like that?'* I thought as I found myself unable to look away from the man. I knew Sinclair was bulky, but what I saw was nowhere near what I'd imagined.

I looked at Octavia and Samantha who were both staring at Sinclair the same way I was. Mouth open, and eyes wide in utter disbelief.

"All three of you, seriously?" Kerr asked as he walked behind Octavia and covered her eyes, glaring at Sinclair. "For the love of-... Put a shirt on, man!" He growled at Sinclair who'd raised an eyebrow at me, his golden eyes bright with amusement.

"Stop it, Sinclair!" I exclaimed, putting my hands over my eyes, then turning where I thought Damien was, but couldn't tell as I refused to lower my hands until I was sure Sinclair was no longer shirtless.

"I've done nothing, little Bastet unless you consider me existing is doing something to irk you?" Sinclair responded.

"You're shirtless! Go put on a shirt!" Samantha yelled.

"Why does Sinclair's lack of shirt affect you, women, so?" Damien asked from right behind me, turning me so we were facing each other. I could see the hurt in his eyes as I pulled my hands down, then put them back up. *'He's so upset, but I didn't mean to.'*

"Here, recreant," Kerr said from what sounded like he was standing next to Sinclair. He must have left the room after I closed my eyes because he was just right behind Octavia, covering her eyes. "He's got a shirt on. You women can stop covering your eyes now." He growled softly, clearly just as upset as Damien was. I couldn't blame them for being upset, because after all, we were staring at another man.

I hesitantly opened my eyes again to find that Damien, Sam, and Kerr were standing by the riverbank again, watching us.

"I feel like I should feel bad right now, and Sam and I aren't even dating," Samantha said with a groan as she sat next to Octavia and me with a groan.

"Wait, you and Sam?" Octavia asked, looking from Sam to Samantha, a smile peeking through her face as she tried to hide it.

"Well, not officially," Samantha said as she bit her lip and smiled, looking down at her feet.

"Let me let you in on a secret about men," Octavia said, motioning with her index finger to Samantha, telling her to lean closer. "Have you two had sex?" She asked, waiting for Samantha to nod, "Then you're together."

"Oh, really?" Samantha asked, furrowing her brows before looking back at Sam as he nodded, raising an eyebrow. "Sorry." She whispered, biting her lip as she looked back at Octavia and me.

"We need to get back to training, as something always seems to distract us, or get in our way," Octavia said with a sigh as she readjusted and looked at me, shaking her head softly. "Since you seem to be able to do what I do, just by thinking about it, try to create an orb, but try not to picture putting anyone in it. Alright?"

"Okay," I said with a nod, looking back to where Octavia had trapped Sinclair and Kerr into the orbs of dirt, then pictured making one, the same way she had. *'Octavia uses her hand to do these things, should I be trying to do that as well? No, I haven't had to use had motions so far, so I shouldn't try to do anything new yet. Okay, picture the orb, or would it be considered a sphere? That doesn't matter, Bast. Focus.'* I shook the thoughts out of my head, as they were less than helpful, and focused on creating an orb in my head. I shouldn't have been surprised, but when I saw the orb forming in the same spot that Octavia had made one before, I got excited, making the dirt crumble back to the ground.

"It's good that you're not closing your eyes anymore, but just try to keep your mind focused," Octavia said with an encouraging nod, telling me to try again.

"Okay," I said and pictured the orb again, willing myself not to freak out as it started to form. This time it worked, and in a matter of seconds, there was a massive round ball of dirt, sitting a few feet from us.

"Would one of you mind? Try to break through that." Octavia said to the men, then spoke to me again. "Next, try to focus on keeping it solid. After some practice, this will be second nature and you won't need to focus on it anymore. But try to make it stronger than the strength of a vampire, alright?"

I nodded and watched as Damien approached the sphere, then punched through it in one hit, making a large hole where his fist connected. I tried to focus on reinforcing it, but my sudden cramps were making it impossible to focus.

"Damien!" I gasped out, my breathing getting ragged as I tried to breathe through the waves going through my uterus, but found it nearly impossible to do so.

"Just try again, Bast." He said as he turned towards me, but the moment Damien saw me, his eyes went wide as he looked at me, gasping softly. "Hey, what's wrong?" He asked as he ran to my side, brushing my hair out of my face.

"I-Ah! I need to go to the hospital!" I gasped out, crying out as the contractions went through me again, each time seemed to get worse and harsher than the last.

"Your water hasn't broken, has it?" He asked as he picked me up and carried me out of the basement, jogging quickly up the stairs.

"I don't know," I mumbled, putting my hands to my stomach.

"It's okay; we'll take you to the hospital anyway. Even if it's a false alarm." Octavia said as she opened the back door to her car, sitting in the driver's seat while Damien got into the backseat with me, his electric eyes wide in fear as he watched my contractions, upset that he couldn't do anything to help me.

"Damien, my hearing has been like yours all day, do you think this is why?"

"You've had vampire hearing all day? Why didn't you tell me? What else have you been experiencing?"

"Um, my smell kept spiking, but I didn't think it was important!"

"Seemed like a sign that you were going to be giving birth, Bast. Your vampire abilities coming to the front without you wanting them to?" Octavia said as she drove to the hospital, seemingly hitting every curb and pothole on the way there.

"Who taught you how to drive, mimic?" Damien snapped as he tried helping me brace, trying to keep the bumps from affecting me so much.

"Let's leave the comments on my driving for when your girlfriend isn't going to give birth to demons in my backseat, yeah?" Octavia retorted as we pulled into the parking lot of the hospital. Rather than parking in a parking space, Octavia drove straight to the front doors, turning the car, so the backdoor opened right against the hospital doors.

*'Demons? How dare she call my babies demons? Though, I suppose demons isn't far from the- AH!'*

"Ow, fuck, these babies are coming now!" I screamed as Damien carried me into the hospital. One of the doctors tried to have Damien set me in a wheelchair, but he refused and continued to take me into the maternity ward where he set me down in the first free room he could find.

"Mr. Damien, I'm sorry, but you need to leave." one of the nurses said as a group of them entered the room.

"I will not!" Damien roared, his eyes turning blood red as he snarled at the woman and began to lunge at her, until Sinclair grabbed his shoulder and yanked him back, pulling him down the hallway and into the waiting room. "Those are my children, I have the right to be in there!"

"Those omegas are scared of their own shadow, and they don't need the vampire king to be in the room," Kerr responded, grunting as he helped Sinclair hold him back.

I couldn't hear what happened next as the next contraction made me cry out, my hands setting on fire as I gripped the bed handles, trying everything I could to stop it from happening.

"Bast, it's okay, I'm right here. I know you'd rather have Damien here, but I'm here. Okay?" Octavia said as she took my hand, completely unbothered by the fire.
