Chapter 64: Twist and turns

" And why do you care?", she said in anger as she faced Liam. He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer still not letting go of the man. He looked at her and said,

" Because you are mine".

The drummer beating the drum of her heart was very fast and hard with it, she loved that, she loved it when he said she belonged to him but at the same time she was angry, that shouldn't be coming out from a man who treated her anyhow he wants but she allowed him dealt with the drunk man first.

Liam pushed him off and he groaned running away from them.

" Dammit! He wants to crush my fingers", he cursed as he walked away.

Amelia got out of his grip when she noticed the man was out of sight, she didn't know what exactly to say at the moment. They were both quiet not knowing what exactly to say.

" Have you been eating well?", they both asked each other at the same time.

" Of course, I've been eating well you are the one who looks pale",

"That's due to stress and lack of sleep. I have to go", he said and walked away.

' Again? he's going again? he's always walking away ', she fumed in her mind and went to grab him by the hand making him turn to her,

" Not again",

" What?",

" I'm walking away from you this time", she said and walked away but this didn't make Liam angry at all, rather it amused him.

He stood there still smiling when Sophia approached him with a tight hug which he wriggled out of.

" You didn't even inform me that you've arrived",

" I did not quite long", he said maintaining a straight face.

" I've been waiting for you",

" Sophia", he called and looked at her fully, his eyes staring right into hers with no smile on his face rather a coldness and a plea to not force him to do what was in his mind.

" You can still stop all these, I promise I wouldn't use it against you or change my ways towards you",

" Seriously Liam? am I that irritating to be with?",

" Not at all, you are one of the most beautiful women I've met in my life",

" then what's wrong",

" It's not by beauty",

" then by what?",

" by the heart".

She snorted, "I know you like her, I know it's all because of that dirty girl",

" I don't have any dirty girl around me so I don't know what you are talking about",

" of course, I know you'll say that, I'm talking about Amelia".

" She's not dirty she's the most beautiful woman I've met in my life", Liam defended, " and like I said earlier it's not by beauty",

" don't give me that bullshit story, I'm going to do what I want, this isn't my fault anyways it's the fault of your foolish father seeking power".

Liam eyes changed immediately she said that and she regretted it immediately. Liam's facial expression immediately turned stern and unforgiving, carrying the aura of authority and power that made him look totally distant exuding the aura of fear and intimidation he glared right into her eyes and said slowly,

" You have no single right to ever insult, or disrespect my father, do it again and you'll regret it all your life. This is your last warning", he said and walked out. Sophia felt so guilty and was scared at that moment his expression changed but it didn't last as it got replaced with anger.

" Not like I'm wrong, it's all his fault", she said and proceeded to make the announcement, telling everyone what this event was all about but as she was about to step on the podium, Liam beat her to it. He stood on the podium with a microphone in his right hand and a piece of paper in the other hand.

" what's he doing?".

He looked at the people in front of him with a questioning gaze but then he cleared his throat and began,

" Good afternoon everyone, I know you all have a question or even more about why you've all gathered here and in the next few seconds you'll have your answers but before that, I hope you all are well, thanks for coming here even though this event was impromptu but at the same time, it'll be a big surprise to some people".

" what exactly is he doing?", Sophia was totally confused, baffled, and even more scared, it seemed like he was going to tell them all that they were getting engaged but at the same time, Liam willingly doing that was too dangerous for her to be rejoicing just yet.

" This event is a surprise package from me to my workers".

"What?", everyone's confused.

" I arranged this event just for my employees and invited every other person to come and rejoice with us", he said leaving his employees in total shock and confusion but he continued his speech, " Good afternoon my beautiful and wonderful colleagues, It is of great pleasure and gratitude that I address you today on this special day of thanks. I know you are all confused and surprised but I couldn't look past your efforts and consistency. You have all worked tirelessly throughout the year, Your commitment to excellence and your dedication to our shared goals are truly inspiring, I know it has not been easy, and I know sometimes it can be frustrating and that's why I've dedicated today to honor and motivate you to do better, to never relent and to remind you that whatever you do, your effort, your consistency, your commitment is seen. Today, I would like to recognize and honor the following individuals for their exceptional contributions, they've gone above and beyond to make our company a success and without further ado, I would like to present the following awards".

Everyone exclaimed and gasped at that speech, the media didn't fail to capture at moment and his workers were astonished. They couldn't believe it at first, some of them even became emotional and torn up while some just admired and thanked Liam, no one knew he had this side in him.

" The Best Team Leader award goes to (he called the name of the recipient)".

They all clapped as he called the man who was so happy and emotional at the same time. He couldn't believe today would turn this great, he jogged to the podium to receive an award and a handshake from Liam of all people.

" The Most Valuable Player Award goes to(he called another name)", he proceeded,

"The Customer Service Award goes to (name of recipient), for their unwavering commitment to providing excellent customer service.

The Innovation Award goes to (name of recipient), for their groundbreaking ideas and solutions.

The Spirit Award goes to (name of recipient), for bringing enthusiasm and positivity to every task they undertake.

And a special award to his secretary.

These are just a few of the many people who deserve recognition today. I am proud to be part of such a hardworking and dedicated team and that's not all, you are all going to receive a salary increase".

The salary increase was the best part of it all, they all jumped and rejoice and the day was filled with happiness and smiling faces, even his friends couldn't believe this act, they all grinned and clapped for him as they got served with wine and desserts. The only fuming face at the event is Sophia's face. She was so angry that she felt she was going to burst.
