Chapter 31
Wanting to get this over with quickly, Charlotte headed straight for the master bedroom.
As soon as she opened the door, Charlotte immediately noticed something was off.
The room clearly had more feminine items in it... makeup and skincare products on the vanity, jewelry, plus women's clothing and handbags casually left around.
These were Sabrina's things!
Just then, a voice came from the bathroom. "Alexander, is that you?"
It really was her!
When Charlotte didn't respond, Sabrina asked again, "Alexander, did you get the stuff?"
Charlotte still didn't make a sound.
The divorce wasn't even finalized yet, and Alexander had already brought Sabrina back here? How desperate could he be?
Charlotte kept quiet, and Sabrina finally sensed something was wrong.
The next moment, the bathroom door silently opened, and Sabrina appeared before Charlotte, dripping wet and wearing only a loose men's shirt.
After getting a clear look at the style of that shirt, Charlotte's pupils suddenly contracted.
This was the shirt she had personally designed last year and given to Alexander as a custom-made gift.
"Charlotte? You're back?"
Seeing Charlotte staring at her intently, Sabrina quickly tugged at the shirt she was wearing, putting on a flustered act. "Charlotte, please don't get the wrong idea, this isn't what you think..."
"Not what I think? Then what is it?" Charlotte's lips curved into a mocking smile.
Caught red-handed, and she still had the nerve to make excuses?
She had really underestimated Sabrina.
Hearing Charlotte's words, Sabrina simply dropped the act, her smile even showing a hint of provocation. "Charlotte, don't worry. As long as Alexander hasn't divorced you, I absolutely won't agree to sleep with him. After all, I would never repeat the mistakes my mom made. Of course, I also hope you're better than your mom..."
"Shut up!" Hearing Sabrina mention her mother, Charlotte finally lost her patience. "You don't deserve to mention my mom!"
Just then, there was suddenly a noise outside the room.
Sabrina heard it, and her heart stirred.
The next moment, she suddenly stepped forward two steps, pretending to fall. "Charlotte, it's all my fault, I'll apologize to you right now..."
Before Charlotte could react, the door suddenly opened.
"Sabrina, what are you doing? Get up." As soon as he entered and saw the scene before him, Alexander couldn't care about anything else and immediately reached out to help Sabrina up.
Sabrina insisted, "Charlotte, please forgive me, I didn't mean to."
"Stop pretending." Charlotte's voice was cold without a trace of emotion.
Looking at the increasingly unfamiliar Charlotte, a flash of hesitation crossed Alexander's eyes, and for the first time, he took the initiative to explain. "Charlotte, don't get the wrong idea, I just wanted Sabrina to recover quickly, so I asked her to move in temporarily..."
Charlotte calmly interrupted him, "Nice arrangement."
With that simple sentence, Charlotte choked back all of Alexander's remaining explanations.
Her reaction was really too strange.
If it were before, she would definitely have smashed all of Sabrina's things in the room, then tearfully questioned him whether he still had her in his heart at all.
Alexander looked at Charlotte with a strange expression. "You're really not angry?"
Angry?
Charlotte sneered inwardly.
By all rights, she should be angry, but now that things had developed to this point, her heart was completely calm, and she even felt like laughing.
Seeing that Charlotte had no intention of responding, Alexander felt inexplicably flustered.
So he quickly handed the things in his hands to Sabrina. "I got the clothes, go change quickly."
After Sabrina took the items and went back into the bathroom, Alexander continued what he hadn't finished saying, "Sabrina's pajamas got dirty, so she asked me to buy her something. Just now, she was probably in a hurry to change, so she grabbed my shirt..."
"That's your business; it has nothing to do with me."
A flash of impatience crossed Charlotte's eyes.
Given the current situation, she probably wouldn't have a chance to look for the design drafts. What bad luck.
At this moment, Sabrina had already changed and came back out.
When she walked up to Charlotte, she actually held out the men's shirt. "Charlotte, this is what you gave Alexander, right? No wonder the fabric is so nice."
Looking at the shirt in her hand, Charlotte suddenly felt disgusted.
So without a word, she turned and threw the shirt straight into the trash: "It's dirty. No matter how nice it is, it's useless now."
Watching this scene, Sabrina's body swayed slightly, and her eyes welled again. "Charlotte, I'm sorry, I did something wrong again. But don't worry, I'll leave right now, I won't make things difficult for you and Alexander."
With that, she wiped her tears and turned to leave.
"Sabrina! Wait."
Alexander grabbed her with one hand, then looked at Charlotte. "It's just a shirt, do you have to be so petty?"
"I'm petty?" Charlotte almost laughed.
"Aren't you?"
Seeing the mockery on Charlotte's face, Alexander finally lost his patience. "At the end of the day, Sabrina fell into the water because of you. I brought her home to take care of her, to make up for it on your behalf! But you? You throw a tantrum without even asking what happened. Charlotte, I'm really sick of you!"
"Sick of me?" Facing Alexander's repeated accusations, Charlotte remained calm as still water, even feeling a sense of relief. "Perfect, I'm sick of you too."
A flash of delight crossed Sabrina's eyes, and she quickly added fuel to the fire. "Charlotte, stop fighting, I'll leave, I'll leave right now."
As she expected, Alexander held her even tighter. "I'm the one who asked you to move in; no one has the right to make you leave."
Watching the two of them pulling at each other, Charlotte smiled slightly. "She doesn't need to leave, I'll leave. But before I go, please sign the divorce agreement first. That way, you can legitimately marry Sabrina and let her become your wife fair and square, then you two can live here forever."
But Alexander thought Charlotte was playing hard to get again, and his expression darkened further. "What are you talking about? What divorce agreement?"
Charlotte was stunned.
But she quickly realized. "The day I left, I asked Lisa to give it to you. You don't know about it?"
Alexander frowned and thought about it. He vaguely remembered that on the day Charlotte left home, Lisa did give him an envelope, but he didn't have time to look at it and just left it there.
As for what happened after that, he had no memory of it.
